[RESOLVED] Gamex Arcade 16.28 not playing video snaps

Hi,

I installed GameEx Arcade Edition version 16.28 yesterday and downloaded the System pack for MAME as well.

Seems to all work fine, except for the video snaps which refuse to appear and play.

I downloaded and installed the LAV Codec pack, fiddled with the setting, reinstalled, etc all to no avail...

Any ideas?..  The videos will play in VLC Media player but nothing else.

Log file is attached - you can see it fails to load the videos.

I suspect your windows install is a bit messed up.  I've got nothing to suggest here other than a fresh install of windows. Sorry.

Ok - thanks Tom, I'll try it on another pc first and see if it works before facing a lengthy reinstall nightmare.

I'd suggest giving the DISM tools a chance to check and correct your Windows install.

Phewww... its working fine now, not on my desktop pc which seems to have a gremlin on the works, but great on the arcade box pc.

All videos displaying fine - love GameEX...

Glad to hear it's working on the PC that matters the most.  Those DISM tools have saved me a lot of work in the past, numerous times, but usually require mounting and iso on a flash to do the repair.   I always do the other steps, but it's rare that I can skip that iso method.

That didn't show up anything as errors when I ran it, but I ran Sherlock codec inspector that showed a possible issue with DirectX so I think that it might have been it.

...who knows, anyway at least its all running now
