When I select a game and start it, the screen goes blank, then I get a large spinning wheel like it's working, and then it goes right back to the game selection screen without running the actual game.  Log file and ini files are attached.

According to your log file you didn't select any game.
Only starting PinballX and closing it.
Are the tables working outside PinballX ? Or did yo install the example files from PinballX ?

I was selecting Big Game and Road Kings which I believe are the sample files.

When I double click a .VPT file, the editor launches and I see the table, backglass, and DMD.

The demo entries, doesn't do anything. You need to configure visual pinball and the table directory.

If you still got problems, reproduce your issue and post the log file. Log file will overwrite when pinballx is launching

I ran through the entire VP configuration when I installed everything originally a few days ago following the video that uses the Wiki.  Just now I downloaded and installed Attack from Mars table, rom and back glass files.

In the Tables folder in VP both the .exe and .vpt files are named the same

In VPimMAME>Rom folder, the .zip file is named correctly

When I select the game in PinballX, I get the large spinning wheel and then two errors appear:

Line: 1102 Object doesn't support this property or method; 'State'

Line: 149 Variable is undefined: 'StopShake'

Now that I think about it, does PinballX run VP 995 tables?  The pinballX settings are included below.

If you launch from the command line :

 D:\Visual Pinball\VPinball995.exe /play -"D:\Visual Pinball\Tables\SKRILLEX.vpt" is your table launcholaunching?

if not, make sure you make it work from the commandline.

i prefer to seperate the visual pinball 9 and 10 tables. (I also prefer visual 10 :) instead of visual pinball 9)

the error you get looks like from visual pinball

Once I get a table to launch and play, I'm most likely going to start from scratch with all VP10 tables.

Launching from the command line, even when running command as an admin doesn't seem to work even though the file paths exist.  Looks like I need to figure that out.  You can see the results I get below.  If anything stands out, feel free to let me know.

In your screenshot , you have a space in the directory name. Also use double quotes for exe in command line.

Like this

"D:\Visual Pinball\VPinball995.exe"

Confirm you can get the command line working as suggested.

Also in your log you have "D:\Visual Pinball\VPinballX.exe /play -"D:\Visual Pinball\Tables\AttackFromMars_FS_B2S.vpt", which indicates visual pinball 10 trying to launch a VP9 table. That's the probable cause of the error messages you saw.

Make sure the only tables you have listed under your System 2 - VPX database are VP10 tables (.vpx file extension).

Thanks for all of the input trying to help.  I wasn't able to get anything working so I deleted everything and found a source that provided a 3gb file that included everything pre configured.  Double clicked the PinballX exe file, and it launched correctly.  All I had to do was configure screens and buttons and I was off and going.

Per site policy I can't [post the source (sorry for the previous post as I thought it was OK to post tables but not ROMs).  Anyhow, if you visit YouTube, one of my go to channels has been RetroRalph.  He blocks out the process of where to get roms and tables etc., but his videos are pretty informative.
