StreetSamurai
I'm using GameEx (standard, not Evolution) on my arcade cabinet. I noticed a few games were missing from my list that I knew were present and working. Just to be sure, I verified the ROMs were present and that they worked in MAME Plus 0.137 outside of GameEx before continuing. I updated GameEx after not having updated it for quite a while and then did Update List for MAME in GameEx. Now no MAME games are found. I made no other changes on the system that might have contributed to the situation: no GameEx configuration changes, no directories or files moved/deleted, no software installed/updated, etc. Does GameEx require use of a minimum version of MAME now? Any suggestions to solve this would be appreciated.
Draco1962
I moved your post to the GameEx General forum since the does not relate to Evolution. Before we begin, we need for you to attach copies of your gameex.ini and log.txt files for review. Click on the GameEx How to ask for help link in my signature for instructions on how to locate the files. Thanks!

Only Tom can say for sure, but if you're on 0.137, it's so far removed from the current that it certainly isn't impossible. As I'm sure you're aware, there has been a multitude of advances over the years since 137; and so in keeping current, GameEx releases have almost certainly been subject to changes in order to stay up to date. cdbrown
I'd be going through the setup guide to ensure all the paths are correct - as tthurman said 0.137 is a long time ago and also many GameEx versions ago so the settings (and amount of settings) in all likelihood have probably changed. Tom Speirs
Officially, I try hard to ensure backwards compatibility with older MAME builds but only tend to test with the latest versions. So it is likely not a GameEx issue but may be.
RedDog
@Tom Speirs This sounds similar to a post I threw out a while back when trying to use GameEx with Mame 0.139. In that thread Frequency commented that there had been an XML change for the listinfo.dat file at some point and I thought that perhaps GameEx might be only checking for the new tag (that assumes I have any real knowledge of GameEx's inner workings, which of course, not so much...). You had said that you would try to look into it when you had time. I kind of set that project aside for awhile and forgot about it. I bet you may have too. Tom Speirs
Can you or the op please upload the MAME build you are using and I will check it out today?
RedDog
Mame0139b_32bit is attached. I pulled it from http://mamedev.org/oldrel.html just now, but it was one of the version I tested from the thread before. If you want me to retest it again before you take a look, I am willing to do so. Thanks. mame0139b.exe
Tom Speirs
Fixed in the latest release. Now available. Cheers. Tom.
StreetSamurai
Sorry I couldn't reply sooner, but I worked a 13 hour day yesterday. After applying the update, I have games in my MAME list again after doing Update List. That did return me to the situation I observed prior to the update, however. I observed that changing the Only working games/Allow imperfect games/Verify ROMs/Use game filter settings cause Galaga (Namco rev B ) [galaga.zip] to display or not. I'm testing now to determine what the best combination of options is. Thanks for the fast fix!
