Hi, firstly I must apologise for not knowing how forums work and that this topic may have been covered earlier but I can't find it. I have managed to finally download and play 24 tables in a set up before I finally put it all in a cabinet. The issue I have is where playing the tables through Pinballx 75% of the tables become unplayable due to ball.lag. The same tables when launched through visual pinball play 100% perfect. Please help before I give up on the project.....:(

You probably need to give us more to go on. Please submit copies of your log.txt and pinballx.ini files for starters. Click on the PinballX How to ask for help link in my sig for instructions on where to find them and attach them in reply to this thread.

Also, it might help to know the version(s) of visual pinball and the tables affected.

As Draco states we need a bit more detail.

Typically if it is playing fine in VP then it is a setting you have set in PBX.  Be patient you will find your way...PBX is a great frontend once everything is running as expected.

Hello. I'm new to PinballX and Visual Pinball in general. I've just set up a new rig for the purpose. I'm experiencing the same problem as the OP: The ball is jerky and the flippers feel laggy when I start my tables (Scared Stiff and Bram Stoker's Dracula) through PinballX. When started from VPX everything is smooth as silk. Any help appreciated. The PinballX seems fantastic frontend and I'd really like to get it up and running properly.

My PinballX.ini:

And a log.txt from a laggy session:

Anything more I can tell, just ask. Thanks.

1. Try running VPX using exclusive full screen setting.

2. Try running PinballX display as windowed, full screen

3. Do you run VPX using DOF?

4. Have you tried to see what happens if you played a non-VPM table (like an EM recreation)?

5. What NVidia settings do you use?

6. What AA settings do you use in VPX? In other words, even though you have a fancy new card, you still may not be able to get away with Brute force 4X AA on some of the larger tables and you will need to walk your AA settings back a bit.

Thanks for helping out. The point 2. was the key. Changing the config "Full screen windowed" from NO to YES and all the lagginess is gone. I also learned how to get FPS readings out. With this setting as NO the FPS drops in Scared Stiff from about 190 -> 40. 190 is also what I get when run without PinballX.
