It is not sufficient to disable all sounds in the setup wizard, i really have to deactivate the playback device. Tomorrow i will try with an external USB soundcard. Well, why didn't you tell us that!?!?!?!?! Just kidding. Troubleshooting is a process. At least you have been able to narrow down the issue somewhat. jukker
I just tried with an external USB soundcard, same problem. I give up now.
Draco1962
GameEx has been updated to 14.71. Can you download and install and report back if that resolves your issue? If not, please attach copies of your gameex.ini and log.txt files. Thanks!

Draco1962
My apologies, I thought that GameEx had been updated to 14.71 as well as the Arcade edition.
jukker
In the meantime i have tried several other frontends on this hardware and none of them had such problems. Hardware, drivers, codecs, ... cannot be the problem, it must be something with GameEx. So i decided to concentrate on various settings in GameEx and finally found a single setting, which is reproducable responsible for this problem: If "Seek Preview Videos" under "Tweaks / Performance" is set to No, everything is fine.
