Hey, I tried to install MAME 0.179, and in the game menu I get asked to update game lists or something. So I do pick this and every time I get to 25%, and that's it, after 6 hours of being patient.

I know how to set-up MAME so this is not on my end.

I am in the process of setting up my MAME folder again (delete all files reinstall MAME move massive rom folders) so I could not try to fix this until all files have been moved. But an Idea of what this is would be nice to hear.

MAME 0.179 64 bit binary - Windows 7 64 bit

I just thought this may be the version of MAME that's the problem. Moving around roms is a pain, but I think I will try 0.177.

I moved this thread from the Convert-It subforums. Please be aware of where you are posting. You run the risk of either not having the issue you are reporting receiving a prompt response or being deleted altogether.

As for the issue you are reporting, it would be good to have a look at your gameex.ini and log.txt files from when it was updating the list with the 0.179 MAME build. Click on the GameEx How to ask for help link in my signature for details on where to find these files and how to submit them for us to review.

This has been solved. I was using a 3 year old installer from my storage drive, while it did update it was not enough to help. I downloaded the latest installer from this site and the issue was resolved. I still got 55% for a long time on verify, but turning of verify roms fixed that as well.

If anyone has an older installer from 2-3 years ago it would be best to download the current version. There is probably no one who has had a 3 year old installer lying around on some drive or DVD but if so you know what to do.

I hope others will have more luck with GameEX than myself. It's a great frontend, It just take a lot more time too hook up properly.
