When I play MAME games with MAME32 my sound volume is fine. When I play the mame games through GameEx my volume level is maybe 10% of what it is when just using MAME32 alone. Anyone else have this problem, or a solution? I even tried changing from using mame32.exe in GameEx settings to mame.exe, but the volume problem still exists in GameEx. Other volume levels in GameEx are fine e.g.Karaoke, Jukebox, Radio, Sound FX etc.

I use digital output from my Audigy card if that matters.

Hi,

I had this problem a while back, too. When running Mame through GameEx, press Tilde to bring up the options, then press right to bring the volume up. As far as I remember, although GameEc runs Mame, it doesn't import the settings (something like that, anyway).

Once you set it once, its set for all games.

I have the same issue... full volume in mame directly... low volume when mame is launched from GameEx.... all games.... I can use the tilde and the right arrow to raise the volume as suggested above...... and it works from that mame32 session...... but it keeps resetting to -32 (very quiet) for the next game....

I can see a " -vol -32 " on the launched mame32 command line in the log file. I can add a " -vol -0 " but it still appends "another" " -vol -32 " after it. I can't find where the extra " -vol -32 " is coming from. My gameex version is not the most current. I could upgrade.

any other ideas group?

>> Update - Searching throught the forum I found another posting from JohnnyG and it fixed the problem. I'm not sure why... but it's fine now:

CLIP: The sound was set for Pause GameEx List Audio and run Mame with sound: I just changed it to Pause playlist audio and run Mame with sound and it's bang on now <endclip

Thanks Mate! -cupojoe

You have to remember that these roms are loading at their factory settings. For example, Mortal Kombat is usually VERY quite until you go into the dip settings and enable the editor, then manually adjust the volume. One thing you can try, though I don't remember exactly where it is, is to enable the option in MAME to have it auto adjust the volume. It's helped me a lot. If I find the setting, I'll reply post it.
