Hi Dazzle I have about 30 or so games for the Amstrad, so the grouping would be too much. Its easy enough to load the savestates (F5) so I think I'll just set that as a separate button. Like I said I'm only getting back into the emulation scene: some of the stuff for Amstrad is seriously old! Dont think anybody but me will be playing them anyway (the kids might have a go in MAME but I get really funny looks when I try to explain how great Get Dexter! was). Thanks for the info!

HI folks, Been quite a while but I'm getting back into the emulation scene again. I've gotten MAME, Daphne and Stella all working perfectly with Gameex, and I'm trying to sort out WinApe (an Amstrad 464 emulator) now. I have it working fine by itself and within Gameex, but I'm wondering is there any way to launch a savestate instead of the game disk through Gameex? Two big advantages to doing this: 1 Most of the game roms I have are cracked versions, so when loading they ask do you want infinite lives, etc. With a savestate, I have already selected my options so I don't need another keypress (which wouldn't be assigned anyway), the game will just launch. 2 Once I have configured the keys, I wont have to do it each time as they are already loaded in the savestate. Also, I don't have a joystick and am going to use my X-Arcade dual stick for the time being until I get to build a cabinet. Do I select joystick or keyboard? Or do I select joystick and remap keys (some games don't let you, and some use ESC, which I want to bind to quit the emulator back to Gameex)? Thanks in advance!

Lo peeps, long time no post! If anyone thought cars sucked all your money/spare time, try having kids.... I'm trying to get back into the scene after a couple of years. Anyway, I didn't download the video (got the worlds dodgiest wireless connection at the mo), but it looks like the intro that was used in the Bravo TV show Playr? Whatever happened to that show anyway? I'll be back soon with lots of annoying questions, hope everyone is still as helpful as before! Johnny

Hi, Sorry, just back from the weekend. The snaps play fine in Media player: i assumed that they would be like the video snaps for Mame in that when you select a game, the video runs in a window. I have the paths set up correctly for GX, but in Stella, if I navigate to the folder, it makes a buzzing noise if I select the video file (exactly like the old 2600 used to if you pulled a cart out!), but pressing escape stops it. Since my snaps in Mame run fine through GX, I thought it would be the same with Stella, but no joy. They're Circo's newest videos, btw. Thanks, Johnny

Hi all, Looking for some help, please. I have Stella working fine thru GX, mapped keys, launch and sound all perfect, but i can't get the video snaps I downloaded to work at all. This is n't a GX issue, I can't get it to work in Stella to begin with! Just hoping someone had the same problem and has a fix for me? Thanks, Johnny

Sorry Brian, my mistake: I meant Soul Calibur 2 (so I can play as Raphael!). I have a Gamecube nd the disc, just wondering had anyone tried it? Thanks, Johnny
-
Hi, The most played game on my Wii is the Gamecube Soul Calibur: many hours have been spent on that game! I know that the emulation isn't there for it (or at least is really poor), but has anyone put an old Gamecube in their cab and hooked up the buttons to use it that way? Is this even possibel? It would be nice to be able to play it in a cab, with proper controls. Thanks all! Johnny

Ooh, can't wait, never owned shares in anything before today! Hang on..... Johnny

Hi, I had exactly the same problem: I could run the video in WMP9 and it was fine, but stuttered when opening vid for GameEx. I never got to the root of the problem, but ran a registry cleaner and it sped up my AVI snap videos. I have since had to do a fresh install of XP (wireless networks, other crap, don't ask!) and lo and behold and it now works perfectly. All I can think is that I had a codec installed somewhere, and it was causing the glitch. I was using the FDDShow from the Utils as well, but I must have missed something. Sorry this isn't much use, but i feel your pain! Johnny

Hi Tempest, No, you were dead right: I had an old install on a backup disc: replaced the data file and I'm back in action again. Thanks, man! Johnny

HI guys, HK, I must have an old version of GameEx, that option doesn't show in the wizard. I tried manually in the Advanced Configuration option, but it doesn't appear there, either? Tom, yeah, they appear in statistics. I have been just jumping in and out of games, not really playing one in particular a lot: I'll try entering and exiting a few a couple of times, see if that does it. Tempest, i have zero use in Excel, although I have a previous install of GameEx, I might have a look through that and try it later. Thanks all! Johnny

Hi, Not personally, but have you tried uninstalling DirectX 10? Never tried it myself, but I imagine if you got to Add/Remove programs, tick show updates at the top, you should get an option to roll back. It was like that with Media PLayer 10, I remember, but I don't know about DirectX. Good luck! Johnny Just realized, this is already being addressed in another topic. http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=5068

Hi All, Been busy the last while setting up GameEx again after my steam powered PC died, nearly have it all set. I've even gotten used to setting up Daphne, which took me months last time, now I got it done in 10 minutes! Woohoo, go me! Two little things have cropped up, though: nothing big, but irritating. 1) My Most Played list doesn't update: according to it, I never played anything. I can assure you, that ain't true! 2)I have Bezels disabled: they don't come on in Mame, but they do come on in Screensaver. I want them off in both. Am I missing something really stupid (probably ) Thanks, Johnny

Wow, that's a brave man who'd even consider trading his wifes shoes.... I'd be looking for my meat and two veg if I tried that. "oh there they are, in your pocket, dear!" Johnny

Played, Rusty, that's a rock hard game! You can't continue on the last level, either, so you have to be good: well done! I like beating games: high scores are nice but the achievement is better, I think. I used to be able to finish Double Dragon (best thing was the head to head at end with a mate, no elbows was the only rule!), Thunder Cross and Thundercade 2 player (tough game!). Best of all was playing a game in the arcade, beating it, then walking away while the credits rolled, not even bothering to put your name in. The looks I would get from younger kids, made me feel like I was Clint Eastwood! Ahem. Johnny

Hi guys, No, I don't use the cheats, although I have been tempted! Closest I got was just adding more credits until I finished Metal Slug, but it loses it's appeal if you can do that, so I try to just play on one go, more like the original experience! I have a little guy, 4 years old now, and he's just starting to get into games: doesn't really understand them, but loves just being with Daddy and his toys, and Mom gets a break from the two of us for a while. Win-win: yay for games! Johnny
-
Hi all, Just to let you all know, I have just beaten Black Tiger for the first time. Ever. I'm exhausted and jubillant and feel like a kid in an arcade back in the 80s again, except back then I could never finish Black Tiger! THIS is why we do this: the clock just rolled back 20 years for me! Later, Johnny

Hi, Top of my head, allow imperfect ROMs should be on: this will display any that have "known problems" warnings No Clones (Unless better) You will still need to allow a few exceptions (like Pac Man, Double Dragon, R Type) to et the ones you need but I think this is pretty close to my setup: without Mahjongg or porn, I have over 3000 titles I think. Hope this helps, Johnny
-
Hi, You can set the entire background to run the video snap, that should be big enough! Johnny
-
Hi, I had a very similar problem for a long time, where the snaps would not play for about 5 seconds or so, then would play fine. In the end, I downloaded a free registry cleaner (I'm not sure which one it was) and ran that, and the video snaps run perfectly now. Is you system a bit old? I just had too much crap installed over the years and they were the problem. Hope this helps, Johnny

Hi, I found these in my files folder: came from Jakobud's site. Dunno what Rev version it is, or if they're any use to you, but give them a look over. Johnny lusid_jpg.zip

I think Jay is spot on there: I look at the BYOAC forums and GameEx forums most days, but rarely post at BYOAC. The few times I did, some people (though not all, by any means) seem to be of the "Noobie=Idiot" mentality. A lot of people there are really great and are more than willing to help noobs, but some (I'm sure you know who they are!) only want to show how witty they are. They're only half right. This forum is by far the friendliest one I've ever seen, anytime I asked a question I always had serious and helpful answers (and a few smart comments, but thats all part of the fun, isn't it?). Hasn't only one person been banned here since the boards started? Thats a seriously low asshole rating, and speaks volumes about the GameEx forum in itself. Delighted to be a member, and happy to help if I can. Keep up the good work, mods and peeps! Johnny BTW, ARMAGEDDON! ROFL!!!

Really sorry to hear it, Brian. Of course, thinking and praying for you and yours.

Hi, Not quite the same thing, but I had trouble with snap videos taking ages to start running, but Mame was ok. I downloaded a freeware registry cleaner and it made a huge difference. Might be worth a look? Hope this helps, Johnny

Sorry, I should have said the Tilde key, not Tab (one above it). Audio should be set for Pause playlist audio and run Mame with sound. Works for me anyhoo! Hope this helps, Johnny Just had a quick look: yep, start game in GameEx, press Tilde, if it says -32db, the volume is set to minimum. Press right arrow (you'll see the white line going accross) to 0db, press Tilde again and that should do it. If it's already all the way right (0db), it's something else!
