Muhammad Ali, 'The Greatest of All Time', Dead at 74

Sad news for those of us grew up watching a great man fight not only physically against another in sport, but against racial inequality as well.

I saw a news report this morning and after breaking the story, the reporter commented about his appearance during the torch lighting ceremony at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. She noted "that it was shocking to see how frail and weak he appeared." I didn't see weakness. I felt humbled, seeing a man with the strength many lack to be out in public despite the ravages of Parkinson's Disease. I cheered for the man for his courage and conviction.

Thank you for your example and rest in peace, Muhammad Ali, The Greatest of All Time.

“It's hard to be humble when you're as great as I am."

Obviously a boxing icon, but in my home town of Louisville, KY, this man was larger that life.  For years his mother lived right outside the apartment complex my aunt lived in at the time, and in very humble fashion.  She was friendly to all the children in the area, and a person held in high regard by my cousin.  For all his flamboyance, I'm sure he wasn't all that unlike his mother, and he is revered in Louisville still today as "The Greatest!"

I wish I was as fluent in words as you Draco.  You're dedication was spot on.  All I can say is "here here" and bang my glass to yours.  Muhammad Ali was awesome.  Such charisma and strength.  You'll be missed.
