hi tom i just wanted to let you know of some strange behavior that game has been giving in regards to simpsons bowling it seems that if i launch it through game ex it starts going wacky making it very hard to select a player or even play looks like it may be a framerate thing? ie..too fast but if i launch it from mame it plays fine.... not quite sure what would cause this any ideas??

thanks

I have noticed a similair bug when launchign through gameex where my IPAC4 reports certain keys constantly being pressed which leads to erratic game behaviour. When I drop out of Gameex and load up notepad there is nothing being typed. If I go to the service menu however and go to the section to test the controls, it will comstantly show my 2nd player joystick beiong tapped down and the 2nd player action button 2 being pressed. They are mapped to the keys O and K. This only happens when launching through gameex.

I believe Gammex presses OK when the ROM loads to get past the disclaimer screen. I would think it would be a one time thing though and that by thte time the rom is all the way loaded, the controls are released.

thats waht i figured was happening. I always have to move my joystick right and left anyways though. Maybe it is waiting too long to type the O and K, and it's kicking in during the game.

Anyone know if gameex does this, and if there is a way to disable it?

Confirmed. GameEx is indeed typing O K O K O K

(go and define a key after mame starts to see this.)

I think GameEx dumps this in the keyboardbuffer.

It was not always like this, my other cab with older version doesn't do this.

I think older GameEx sends --skipdisclaimer or similar..

It's not needed since i used buddamame.

Long story. I thought my new JPAC had a bug. I went over all cabling an hour long in my cab.. Then i read this. Swapped JPAC with older version seems to make a difference. Different buffer perhaps.

Yes, there is an option to enable/disable disclaimer(s) i think. Haven't tried it yet because it's late and i'm going to bed :)

Hi,

You can turn off the skip disclaimer, its one of the first settings under Advanced MAME settings in the config, but yes sounds like it might be GameEx sending OK over and over.
