PinballX as MAME Frontend Shiftkey How To ???

Hi all,

hope I'm right here ;-)

I'm using PinballX in my PinCab. It really works FANTASTIC! So I wonder'd if I can use it in my MAME Cocktail Cab also.

Just getting started with it, I've a Problem with the Keys ... MAME uses the 1P Button (Number "1" on the keyboard) as a "shift" key...is it possible to setup PinballX with this "2 Button shift funktion" ???

Or ... has anyone managed to run PinballX in a MAME Cab, if yes, how ??

Regards from good old Germany :-)

Thank you Tom,

I'll give it a try ...

The plan is to have 4 different kinds of games. 1 Player (only), 2 Player ( after another ), 2 Player (together), 2 Player (vs)

So I thought of pinballX ... with the "manufacturer list" it should be possible ... maybe ...

Hope I'll get it made.

I need the "shift" key for navigation in MAME ... (1P and 2P = ESC / 1P + Joy L = Enter / 1P + Joy Down = Pause / 1P + Joy R = Game Menue )

But maybe I can change the keys in MAME settings...

btw ... how did you manage it?

I just use the buttons that are already on my PinCab...

I let PinballX manage the exiting of MAME, so I don't need an extra button for that. Same button that exits PinballX, exits MAME as well.

I don't actually use the pause and game menu (what do you mean by this one, the TAB menu?) in MAME, but I suppose I could use the "Flyer" button for that.

I'll try and share my PinballX.ini file, so you can see how I've set it up...

Those shifted keycombo's are actually handled by MAME and not the PinballX frontend. The only thing that PinballX will do from the background is check whether the exit emulator key is pressed and then open the exit menu. Opening MAME's tab menu or pause functionality is entirely up to MAME.

If all else fails, you could set up an AutoHotkey script that monitors for the combinations you mentioned and then outputs a specific keystroke ("P" for instance).

EDIT: I did actually use shifted key combinations, but that was handled by my iPAC board...
