Scooby1
PinballX has started crashing every time I launch a VP table from PinballX. I don't have any issues running VP tables outside of PBX.Can someone please take a look and see what is wrong with my setup?Thank you in advance!Log21:05:15.3 9/22/2015: PinballX - Version 2.0221:05:15.3 9/22/2015: Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64-bit (6.9GB)21:05:15.3 9/22/2015: Loading Settings21:05:15.3 9/22/2015: Initialize Component21:05:15.4 9/22/2015: Initialize Display21:05:16.5 9/22/2015: Loading PlugIns21:05:16.5 9/22/2015: Loaded Plugin:"FutureDMD PinballX Stats" Version 1 By GauntletLover21:05:18.0 9/22/2015: PlugIn: "FutureDMD PinballX Stats" Initialized OK21:05:18.0 9/22/2015: Using Plugin System Version: 121:05:18.0 9/22/2015: Loaded Plugin:"LED Plugin" Version 1 By Tom Speirs21:05:18.0 9/22/2015: PlugIn Did not initialize. tthurman
Be sure "Gaming Evolved by Raptr" didn't accidentally sneak in on you during a recent driver update for your AMD based GPU.It's a known issue, and causes exactly this.If it is installed, just remove it under control panel.During future installations tick "custom", and uncheck it when prompted. Scooby1
For some reason, PinballX crashes and doesn't launch one table now, ACDC. Then there are about another 5 tables that launch from PBX, but then I get the "Visual Pinball 9.9.0 has stopped working" pop up each time I exit these 5 tables. The pop up box when exiting these tables goes away after a few seconds, then returns to the PBX menu. How can I get ACDC to launch from PBX and these other 5 tables to exit without getting the "VP stopped working" box? It's so strange, since I set these up the same way as all the other VP tables within PBX. They all launch and exit with no problems outside of PBX.As for removing "Gaming Evolved by Raptr", I have looked everywhere on my system and even though I have the AMD Catalyst software, I don't see "Gaming Evolved by Raptr" anywhere. I've looked in each option within the Catalyst software package and don't see it there either.Do you recommend uninstalling Catalyst completely? If so, would I need to reinstall Catalyst (custom this time) for my AMD system to work properly? Thanks!
Draco1962
Yes. Reinstall Catalyst and unchecked Raptr if shown as an option.
Scooby1
I have been trying to uninstall Catalyst and reinstall it, so I can make sure I select custom install and uncheck Gaming Evolved app.I can't seem to uninstall the software at all. The Catalyst install manager software does not show up anywhere on my system, which I don't understand since this is how the Catalyst software was originally installed.I've been searching and trying other suggestions I've found elswhere online, but none of them work for me.I checked for an update to my installed Catalyst software and downloaded the update. I then tried installing the update and everything looked good. I chose custom install and unchecked Gaming Evolved app, then continued the installation.Unfortunately, this did not work and I got the attached errors messages.I am still getting the Visual Pinball 9.9.0 has stopped pop ups when exiting tables from PinballX.Does anyone have another suggestion to how I can truly uninstall the Catalyst software (since I'm not able to do so using either Uninstall programs or the Microsoft Fix it software package.I'm really stuck here guys. My cab is close to being done, but these pop up error messages make the experience not so fun.Thanks.

shadow_shd
Hi,I have problems too since the last days with some VP tables launched from PBX (v2.0.4).For exemple "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" (JPSalas' version downloaded from VPU) makes VP crashing when launched from PBX, but runs fine when loaded and launched from VP.On Q-Bert's, when launched from PBX, I can't launch the ball, as if I changed the mech strength value of the plunger to a too low value. Runs fine when launched from VP.I don't have an AMD video card, but a nVidia one, so the trick of Raptr doesn't apply to me.I'm gonna try with the previous version of PBX, and will come back to tell if it's working better or not.I didn't made any hardware or software change.Edit : seems we cannot download previous version of PBX, I will take a look at the log file.++

The log.txt file should be right after the error occurs. Also, if this is happening with just a few tables, please provide table names and VP version. Keep in mind that the error you are encountering may not be the same as what was noted in the OP and may have to be addressed separately. Thank you. It's a good first step troubleshooting method, but seeing how this is for some reason narrowed down to specific tables, as opposed to everything, it seems unlikely that it's the solution. Scooby1
Thanks for the link! One item that has me a bit nervous, is after using this method and hopefully doing a clean uninstall of all Catalyst software and drivers, it says "All previous versions of AMD display and audio drivers as well as AMD software components will be removed". How will affect my ability to use Windows to re-download/install Catalyst cleanly? Will I have any trouble with my Windows 7 install and my VP, FP, PinballX setup that took me so long to get to this point? Will I just download the current Catalyst drivers and do a custom install without "Gaming Evolved app", and my system will run at least as smooth as before (hopefully a bit better)?I know my questions may seem rudimentary for some, but like everyone in this great community, I have spent countless hours setting up my system to get it to this point and would like to avoid needing to redo it all. Thanks in advance for your thoughts on my questions. tthurman
While it's always possible that things could go South on you, this should really have no impact on anything other than your GPU drivers, the audio drivers that allow sound to travel across the HDMI connection, and any other AMD specific software. If you're like me, then this is just the graphics card. What this is designed to do is uninstall all AMD drivers, and remove references to them in the OS. It's really just a clean sweep so you can start fresh without worrying about remnants from previous drivers.I'm not clear on backing up PBX entirely, although I would venture to guess it's just like GameEx, backup the entire folder. If this is something you wish to do before proceeding you wait for an expert on that subject to chime in.
shadow_shd
Hi,OK, my issue has nothing to do with PBX - I basically thought it was since v2.0.4 update, since I didn't encountered the issue before.VP 9.9.1 stops working with Ripley's if Cabinet Mode in VPM is enabled. If I uncheck Cabinet Mode, tables runs fine.Strange, Ripley's used to work fine till now with Cabinet Mode enabled Thank you anyway for this great front-end and keep the good work guys ++

Scooby1
Okay, I have uninstalled all AMD drivers and reinstalled the AMD Catalyst Install Manger and left "Gaming Evolved" unchecked. There is no "Gaming Evolved" or "Raptr" software on my system. I am still getting the same "Visual Pinball 9.9.0 has stopped working" error box when exiting a lot of tables from PinballX. I then installed the latest PBX version 2.04, but am still getting the same error.I then uninstalled all Shark codecs and installed the recommended LAV filters. PBX seems to flip through tables in the menu a bit smoother, but I'm still getting the same error when exiting a lot of tables.I'm including my latest PBX files, hoping you guys see something that might help.PBX Config:[Display]Monitor=0rotate=270Windowed=Falsewindowwidth=480windowheight=270windowx=592windowy=294PlayFieldBrightness=250WheelTextColor=ff506f00WheelTextOutlineColor=ff000000InfoTextColor=ffffffffInfoTextOutlineColor=ff000000FilterTextColor=ffffffffFilterTextOutlineColor=ff000000MenuColor=ffbbbb00WheelAutoCrop=FalseFullScreenWindowed=TrueShowExitImageFor=2[backGlass]monitor=1x=0y=0width=1360height=768UseB2S=False[DMD]Enabled=Truemonitor=2x=25y=230width=1320height=332AutoPositionPinMAME=FalseUsePinMAME=FalseHidePinMAME=False[FileSystem]EnableFileMatching=False[interface]DesktopModeEnabled=FalseEnableAdditionalDetail=TrueShowSystem=TrueShowRatings=FalseOneClickLaunch=TrueWheelOverlay=2[Audio]StreamVolume=40SampleVolume=40PlaySoundInVideos=True[startup]playsound=Falseplayvideo=FalseStartWithWindows=Yes[KeyCodes]quit=69left=160right=161select=13rotate=82pageleft=33pageright=34exitemulator=69ingame=80screenshot=121screenshotbackglass=120instructions=73volumedown=189volumeup=187[JoyCodes]quit=12left=9right=1select=8rotate=pageleft=4pageright=2exitemulator=12ingame=7instructions=[Text]Line1=Select Table with FlippersLine2=Press Start[FuturePinball]Enabled=TrueWorkingPath=D:\Future Pinball\BAMTablePath=D:\Future Pinball\TablesExecutable=FPLauncher.exeParameters=/STAYINRAM /open "[TABLEPATH]\[TABLEFILE]" /play /exitLaunchBeforeEnabled=TrueLaunchBeforeWorkingPath=D:\Future PinballLaunchBeforeExecutable=FutureDMD.exeLaunchBeforeHideWindow=TrueLaunchBeforeWaitForExit=FalseLaunchAfterEnabled=FalseLaunchAfterWorkingPath=LaunchAfterExecutable=notepad.exeLaunchAfterHideWindow=FalseLaunchAfterWaitForExit=TrueMouseClickFocus=TrueFPRAMPath=D:\Future Pinball\fpRAMLaunchBeforeParameters=table="[TABLEFILE]" close=1LaunchAfterParameters=[VisualPinball]Enabled=TrueWorkingPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Visual PinballTablePath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Visual Pinball\TablesExecutable=VPinball.exeParameters=/play -"[TABLEPATH]\[TABLEFILE]"LaunchBeforeEnabled=falseLaunchBeforeWorkingPath=LaunchBeforeExecutable=notepad.exeLaunchBeforeHideWindow=FalseLaunchBeforeWaitForExit=TrueLaunchAfterEnabled=FalseLaunchAfterWorkingPath=LaunchAfterExecutable=notepad.exeLaunchAfterHideWindow=FalseLaunchAfterWaitForExit=True[ExitScreen]Enabled=TrueEnableExit=TrueEnableShutdown=TrueConfirmExitGameTimer=False[startupProgram]Enabled=falseWorkingPath=Executable=notepad.exeParamaters=HideWindow=trueWaitForExit=false[ExitProgram]Enabled=falseWorkingPath=Executable=notepad.exeParamaters=HideWindow=FalseWaitForExit=[AttractMode]Enabled=TrueTimer=2ShowFor=30MuteAudio=False[system_1]Name=MAMEEnabled=FalseWorkingPath=C:\- EMULATORS -\- MAME -TablePath=C:\Executable=mamep64.exeParameters=[TABLEFILE]SystemType=0LaunchBeforeEnabled=FalseLaunchAfterEnabled=False[AutoExit]Enabled=TrueMinutes=45[Login]Enabled=False[PinballFX2]Enabled=FalseWorkingPath=D:\SteamExecutable=Steam.exeParameters=-applaunch 226980 "[TABLEFILE]" < parameter “Tablefile” will launch tables directly>Process=Pinball FX2WaitFor=-1LaunchBeforeEnabled=FalseLaunchBeforeWorkingPath=D:\PinballXLaunchBeforeExecutable=Pinball_FX2_Borderless_DMD.ahkLaunchBeforeWaitForExit=FalseLaunchAfterEnabled=TrueLaunchAfterWorkingPath=D:\PinballXLaunchAfterExecutable=KillPFX2.batLaunchAfterWaitForExit=False[internal]lastwheelcachematchsize=2666646lastselected=T2 Chrome PhysModT2 Chrome PhysModSystem_3filter_year=filter_company=filter_custom=filtername=Tableslastwheelcachematchsize2=0[setupWizard]EmuPath1=C:\EmulatorsAssetPath1=C:\AssetsRomPath1=C:\RomsDefaultPathPrompt=TrueDownloadDatabasePrompt=TrueDownloadEmulatorPrompt=TrueWizardMode=1CustomArray=SearchArray=SavePosition=FalseSectionIndex=20SearchText=EmulatorIndex=0EmulatorGroupIndex=0DaphneIndex=0HTMLAppsIndex=0ExternalAppsIndex=0RadioStationsIndex=0NewsFeedsIndex=0MappedDrivesIndex=0SystemIndex=2ShowPanel=TrueFontSize=1WindowState=0WindowSize=1092,739WindowLocation=73,4[GameListManager]onlinemode=false[Plugin_1]Enabled=TrueName=FutureDMDStats.dll[Plugin_2]Enabled=TrueName=PlugInLED.dll[Plugin_3]Enabled=FalseName=PlugInSpeech.dll[Plugin_4]Enabled=TrueName=QuickLaunch (PinballX Edition).dll[Plugin_5]Enabled=FalseName=Xpadder Plugin.dll[system_3]Name=Visual Pinball - Draco1962
On one or more of the affected tables, can you try unchecking cabinet mode as Shadow_shd noted in his post a few above and report back?
Scooby1
The only place I see to uncheck cabinet mode is globally within the VPinmame settings. I unchecked cabinet mode from there, but still no change. Is there somewhere else, maybe within PBX settings, to uncheck cabinet mode?

shadow_shd
Hi,Some news on my VP crashing with Ripley's.Here's what I did to fix it - it may be useful for other members, I do hope so :- I started by checking that "run as administrator" was checked on the three .exe file of B2S Server in my Tables folder. It wasn't the case, so I checked the options.- On the first start of VP + Ripley's, no crash. I exited and relaunched VP + Ripley's : crash.- I checked my backglass options, and tried to deactivate "Start this backglass in EXE mode", just in case : bingo !, VP doesn't crash anymore.- Tried a couple of times launching / exiting the table from PBX : no more crashes I don't really know the "start backglass in EXE mode" option makes when it's activated or not, but it works - it seems to work for now, I won't miss to feedback. So it was definitely not a PBX issue If I can give an advice, activate "run as administrator" option of each exe involved in your cab : VP.exe, PBX.exe and so on.It can save many hours of headache ++
Scooby1
I found a solution for PBX crashing when exiting from VP tables, but it was not a software issue. I believe I had a faulty wire from my Virtuapin control board harness. After exhausting software related troubleshooting, I started swapping wires between buttons and my control board. When I had wired my cab, everything worked great...not sure what happened. My cab exit button is now mapped to a different wire from the harness and I no longer have issues exiting tables from PBX (except for one, but that will be for a different thread). With so much troubleshooting involved to get all these programs to work together smoothly, I hadn't originally thought to retest my wires! Thanks for the help!
