jedah
Hi all,I posted last week about GameEx crashing on me quite regularly. I spoke to Tom and I thought I had fixed the problem, but I am getting a very high percentage of crashes with it again. Sometimes it does it whilst loading and other times whilst I am cycling through the lists. We thought it maybe a codec issue. So I uninstalled the latest Shark007 pack and grabbed the one from PinballX. I thought this had fixed the problem but it seems to be crashing an awful lot today. Does anyone have any idea how I may be able to track down the rogue codec or whatever else may be causing this issue? GameEx has always been rock solid for me in terms of reliability up until now.If any other info is needed then let me know. DazzleHP
Your log isn't showing much (actually not anything)...Have you done the usual checks? Such as drivers, updates etc?If so cleaning your registry can often have an impact, especially if not done in a while. Rogue registry entries can really mess things up Any third party software that could be conflicting? It's rare but it can happen. I run W7 64 Pro which isn't that different to Ultimate, but i use a relatively clean, minimalistic system and don't get any crashes.Come to think of it - running Ultimate, it might be something to do with WMC? just a thought...Sorry i can't be more specific jedah, but you seem to have a glitch that isn't common, so will likely need thorough investigation on both ends to narrow this down
Draco1962
To follow on Dazz's heels, you are probably going to do some sleuthing from the OS side. Run a system cleaner, such as CCleaner to weed out registry issues, check the Windows Event Viewer right after one of these crashes. Since this is not happening for everyone, it is likely that the issues you are experiencing are a conflict at the OS level. You may have to uninstall the .Net Frameworks via Control Panel (from newest to oldest versions, then install from oldest to newest and apply updates via Windows Updates).
tthurman
Now that they are fewer, and much further between releases, make sure you didn't pull down catalyst suite 15.7, and accidentally let it install "Gaming Evolved by Raptr". It's known to cause this exact problem.
jedah
Cheers for the suggestions chaps.I think I have a registry issue. I tried re-instaling .net and the windows update is failing on one update for it. I will try and fix it today.Failing that think I will have to do a re-installation
