Text in the menus is garbled and corrupt when running GameEx at 4k. See the attached image. This happens with any theme.

Any ideas?

You need to provide your gameex.ini for everyone to review, along with a log.

Additionally, what refresh rate are you running, and what interface on your GPU, DP?

Is it a fair assumption if you run the themes at their original designed resolution (i.e., 1920x1080) that you do not have these display artifacts in the font?

You may want to start by providing a copy of your gameex.ini and log.txt (Click here for additional information on how to find these files and others that may be required).

Any info you can provide in addition to these files, such as:

- Monitor or Display make/model?

- GPU Make/Model and driver version? Latest driver?

- Are you connecting to the display via HDMI or DisplayPort?

It is likely not as much of a GameEx issue as an environmental one due settings/limitations with the GPU and your display's scaling. There are quite a few sites on the web where users are having issues with mouse and text issues. As you might be aware, there are variables of the 4K standard and not all manufacturers adhere to recommended.

Thanks!

Ah sorry, attaching now (don't think the log will help though for font issues). Am running only at 30hz at the moment as I'm still having issues running my 290x at 60hz at 4k on my monitor :-(

Monitor is connected via DP 1.2.

I am running Windows 10 Insider Preview 10130, so obviously it could be an issue with that, but I'd be interested to see if anyone can replicate in a different environment.

Yeah, probably not, but better to have it and not need it right :)

What I'm seeing from doing some quick searching is that you need to be running at 60Hz for native display port, if you're at 30, I'm guessing that's your problem.

Also if you've got Raptr running as part of your AMD driver suite, disable it.

From your log

"Display is running in full screen compatibility mode"

hmmmm

check nullPointers post here, for suggestions on settings changes to resolve this.

Could well be, unfortunately I'm having issues running anything at 60Hz at the moment even after RMAing my 290X. Hoping RMAing my monitor will help.

When I can I'll re-test at 4k 60hz and update the thread,

If you look at the log.txt file, while it doesn't have any info that specifically speaks to the display issue you are reporting, it does have some good diagnostic info, such as OS, RAM, GPU type and resolution, refresh rate, etc. So, it does save us from having to ask a lot of basic questions. B)

Im not able to run 4k yet as I don't have the hardware so can't fix anything yet. I doubt this issue will be present with Evolution and I am guessing I will have a 4K TV in about 5 months but I am not buying one that does not support decent output from a PC. Last time I looked none of them did.

From what searching/reading I was able to do earlier, it doesn't look promising unless the scaling can be adjusted within the GPU and/or the display itself.

Yeah that's a weird one, someone else spotted that in one of my other threads. That setting is disabled so not sure why it says that :-(

Tom - If there is anything I can do to help you with testing at 4k whilst you don't have a screen I'd be happy to help. Otherwise I think I'll live with the text glitch for now (it's only minor anyway)

How does it appear when using the default (1920x1080p) settings for the theme?

1080p (and 1440p the other new common monitor res) is completely fine. It's just at 2160p that the issue happens.

Just noticed I had "Disable Display Scaling for High DPI displays" checked in compatibility options.... Unchecking fixes the issue... Sorry :(

Thanks for sharing your resolution for this issue! Glad you found the cause. I am sure someone else will run into this as the 4k displays find their way into more setups.
