Hoping someone can help.

Every time i launch the executable the Pinballx startup screen pops up for a second and then disappears.

Log file below shows theres a problem - I just dont know where.

I've renstalled PinballX, it launches fine after. As soon as i copy my media folder back though, it goes back to the same issue. I'm baffled

Hi JoeyH

In addition to your log it would also be helpful to take a look at your PinballX.ini. Here's some info on how to access your settings file if you're unfamiliar with how to do so. Just as a wild guess but this looks like something graphics related. Have you double checked that your monitor config is setup properly (i.e. each monitor is setup to display what it's supposed to (Playfield, Backglass, DMD, etc)? Along those lines have you updated your graphics drivers recently? Sometimes Windows Update can make updates to drivers without a lot of user intervention, so it would definitely be worth looking into.

Hi

Attached is my Pinballx.ini file.

It only happens when i copy my media folder back after a reinstall. Tested it 3 times now.

A default installation launches perfectly fine. With the media back it doesn't. Very odd. I havent changed anything at all. My cabinet is not connected to the internet so no windows updates/driver updates done. Was working perfectly yesterday....but not today. Very odd.

Could it be an access rights issue with the folder he is copying? Often times, when copying a folder from one location to another instead of just the contents, the parent folder permissions will not translate to the child folder.

Thats exactly what I thought.

Trying to narrow it down to the actual image thats causing the issue is a nightmare. I just wish i knew what image was causing it. Considering its during startup of PinballX, i'm thinking its probably one of those images.

Have taken ownership of the folder after copying it across. Same problem.

I'm no coder - but could there possibly be some glitch in the code? I found these articles - not sure if they're related

Doubtful or we would likely see a lot more of this kind of error. You noted it happens when you copy the media over. How about manually creating the folder, copying twenty images at a time, starting PinballX after each batch of 20 until you get a fail. Then, delete one image from the last batch and restarting PinballX each time. Yeah, it will be time consuming, but probably the only way you will be able to nail down the cause.

Update.

Finally finished copying media over - only copied media for tables I have. All seems fine now.

Seems there is an issue with an image or multiples images when loading - just wasn't able to narrow it down to which one/s exactly.
