[RESOLVED] Menu Navigation Scrolling lag

It always seems that just when I get my setup up and running perfect, an update will come up and I'll install it and it breaks my setup in some way or some kinda hardware failure occurs on my machine and I have to start all over again. This time, my Video snaps will take like 1-2 seconds to load from one game to the next (making GameEx feel incredibly sluggish) on any of my game lists, which never happened before. Yes I messed with the tweaks page but again this has never been a problem for me so idk why that would be an issue now, but what do I know. Halp! D:

Have done a system restart? I've noticed that many times, even if I'm just tweaking my config that my snaps stop working, a reboot instantly fixes it though.

I restarted my system and the problem is still there. Even for games that don't have videos it takes like 2 seconds to switch from the game before it goes to the one I chose. I got a video uploading of my problem so you can see it first hand. But for some reason my MAME list appears unaffected. But all my video snaps are the same format.

Alright, so if someone tells me its my video decoder, I may go insane lol. I had already installed the Shark codecs after a huge headache with my videos before and I've done nothing to it since installing it and I've not installed any new codecs either. But I have some games that have no videos and even those take time to be selected.

I dont have a delay and I don't use Shark anymore. Windows 8.1 codecs work fine for me. :)

Ahh I thought you were on 8, not sure why. My bad. :)

lol I was, then I had a hard drive failure and had to switch to a 100GB pos and put 7 on there because my 8 disc was bunk. So your memory serves you well. ;) Also I took the liberty of cleaning my system and defragging and optimizing my extHDD still no change. :(

Same problem here with Windows 8.1

The problem on my system is on latest GameEx version.

Any solution to solve it?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: The problem is only on list of games, i can select items perfect without delay on main list of emulators. It seems is a problem with video load.

So glad I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. That means it's something wrong with GameEx and not me. lol

I too noticed my video snaps for my console list (forget the specific name for them) don't lag but as soon as I enter any specific emulator game menu the lag begins.

Correct all, the lag is when loading videos. It makes you can't advance the list speedy.

If the games has an image instead a video it loads perfect.

When i'm on the main list (i have no videos for my systems) and load the images it's very speedy, you can browse the emulators list well. The problem is in my case inside all the emulators list, when a video load it lag.

Not so sure it rule-out your setup as culprit, mi amigo! :D 2 reports are not a trend out of the many that run GameEx without having the same issue to report. Also, what may fix yours may not fix another's issue if it is from a similar, but different causitive agent.

idk, usually if I person has an issue, chances are somebody else out there has an issue thats the same or similar. and if 2 people have the same or similar issue, chances are many will have issues at least statistically speaking. Doesn't mean every person is going to report the problem though. Maybe 14.04 isn't/hasn't been installed on a lot of peoples systems yet. My problems didn't arise until I updated. But either way I seriously doubt its my settings. Everything was peachy until the exact moment I updated. Just trying to logically deduct possibilities.

Might run faster if you shave your palms.. :P hopefully a solution will be found. You may want to see if maybe Event Viewer shows anything funky taking place from the OS side of things.

Naw man I only use conditioned pubes, makes the fingers slide around way easier on the keyboard ;) Otherwise the fingers get stuck. And idk what I'm even looking at in the event viewer. :s Its telling me something, but idk.

LOL thanks for the chuckle ^_^

I take it you guys have changed Snap/Video Delay (slower for lower spec systems, faster for better specs), and have changed "Snap Best Match" to No?

PS you can export Event Viewer log, something like Right-Click> export log, or File> Save Log as. It's been a while but you get my drift :P

Just say I just try again and this problem does not happen with the MAME videos. Only happens with the videos of my emulators. It is very rare.

As you can see in the video, step through the list of MAME games is very fluid. However, going through the list of emulators jumps some games and is not fluid.

That's exactly how my setup works now. MAME videos are fine, but everything else is messed up.

I recently took notice to this but on my setup it is like a slight stutter I am still not sure if it is GameEx or the codec update that caused it but it doesn't bug me that much so I haven't made any mention of it.

It could be how the video was recorded too. I just updated my codecs again last night will do some further testing.

All my videos have been the same and I didn't update my codecs. I had been using my GameEx immediately before updating to 14.04 (I forget what version I was on.) and I had zero issues, everything was running perfect. Then when I updated, my GameEx started behaving this way. And its not just games with video snaps that are affected. Games that don't have any snaps will load just as slow as a game with a video snap does.

You may not be having the problem Evilforces and I are having if you aren't experiencing these symptoms. Set your video snaps directory for a emulator to nowhere so the game list has no snaps and then run down the list to see if it stutters/lags. That would rule out the videos loading slow.
