HI All,

I built a stand up machine about 8 years ago. I have had GameEx running for that long. I believe the version was 8.17??? I managed to salvage my settings and harddrive content. I have a couple of questions.

  1. On the latest version of GameEx, can I install and keep my settings from the previous version or will it be a "from scratch setup"?
  2. I bought a full license back then, does that still apply for upgrades or will I need to buy it again.
  3. If the original license is still good, where is it's info and can I reregister the latest version with it?

Thank you in advance for the help.

1. I'll preface this with saying that there have been numerous upgrades and feature add on's along the way, and I haven't been using GameEx since 8.17, but I do not believe the basic configuration has changed enough to warrant a "from scratch setup". That said, you may want to wait around for some other responses before making any moves.

2. Your full license is good for current GameEx upgrades, it will not however carry over to the new version, "Evolution" when it's released. Explanation of Member Groups

Thank you very much for the reply. I will get the new box up and running with the version I saved, make up backup and then try the new version and see what happens. Thanks again for the response.

I've been using GameEx for around 4 years and i wouldn't trust a setup from when i started let alone 8(!) years ago. That's some mileage you've got there! :o If you liked it back then wait till you a get a load of it now :D So much has changed though in the time that i've been here that i would advise starting from scratch. Plus by doing so you'll be able to go through all those tasty new features you might be unaware of otherwise :)

Awesome..... Another question. I have the hard drive from the original box but it is failing. If I can get it booted is there somewhere I can look for my license? I think I remember Tom sending me a reg key for it but I'm not sure any of the email addresses I used back then are valid...assuming I can remember what I used

At present, you should use the Client Area and note the email address(s) you may have initially used and the current active email address you wish to use going forward. Check this post for contact info regarding registration information.
