Tom Speirs Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Just a heads up folks but I am going to end up charging a few bucks a year for the FTP, enhanced forum access and some other value added stuff. Current and future contributors along with Elites won't be affected by this. Again, its only going to be the cost of a couple of beers. As well as covering my costs it will be a great way to support but get something back and ensure PinballX is still actively worked on and supported. Cheers. Tom. 3
Tom Speirs Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 Just to follow on from this, the restrictions for Basic Members are now in place and the FTP changes will happen this week and Basic members will be restricted. I would like to encourage basic members to sign up for the online pass: http://www.gameex.info/forums/store/product/4-1-year-online-pass/ and support PinballX and me. Its only a few bucks to support PinballX and you will get full access to the FTP and enhanced forum access with a lot of upload space and more. I still plan to provide PinballX for free and continue to work on it and support it and this is my effort at making that sustainable. 2
Itchigo Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Where can I donate? It can't be too much but hopefully there's a cumulative effect. The truth is I don't really use the ftp, but I want to support Pinball X. Tom you saved us all from Hyperpin!
Tom Speirs Posted August 13, 2014 Author Posted August 13, 2014 Thanks. If people want to donate they should purchase the online pass.
randr Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I purchased the online-pass and honestly the least i could do 1
Tom Speirs Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 I purchased the online-pass and honestly the least i could doThanks buddy. I really appreciate it. Your the first!
Tom Speirs Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 These changes are live, please see the link at the top of the page for new FTP access details. Unfortunately with the software I have it was not possible to give a free allowance to basic members. I did try.
sigma415 Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Hello Tom,you should add the currency of the prices in the purchasing process for game-ex licenses: I have just seen, that it's in USD after entering the Paypal payment. In all steps before one sees only naked figures :-(And also in the payment received mail. Not all PBX fans live in US ....
Tom Speirs Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Yeah you are right. I use USD because that is the majority. I would actually prefer pounds as I am in the UK. I don't think I have an option to show it though.
sigma415 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Why not write it somewhere in the text ? Better than nothing ...I could imagine, that someone would like 38GBP more than 38USD
Draco1962 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Maybe add a link that goes to a currency conversion site so the registrant will know how much of their currency it will take to meet the current $US price? XE Currency Converter is one that comes to mind. There may even be some sort of widget that could be incorporated into the page itself without the customer leaving the page.
Tom Speirs Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 I'm not sure how to modify that page but I can add the $ symbol. It should be showing but it is not. I am waiting on support to answer.
Tom Speirs Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 I just wanted to say again if you have a contributor or elite status you are being rewarded already and have full access. I appreciate you supporting the cause of course but it is not required.
sigma415 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 PinballX is worth its price, also for a (former) contributor
Les73gtx Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 My next project is a Mame cabinet as the wife likes to play the old school DK and Ms Pacman ... always got to find a way to slip in the toys .... lol So I will become a lifetime member once I am ready for that ... a few months I would guess. I did the basic for now. Thanks Tom for all the hard work as PinballX rules the VP cabinet world IMO.
lolganked Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 I clicked on the link you provided and bought the basic package for $7. Didn't realize there was a Lifetime sub option so I went back and purchased that as well.Take that extra $7.00 and buy yourself a couple of beers on me.Suggestion: Change your link in this post to take people to the page where they can choose the subscription level they want instead of just to the basic level. Thanks for all the hard work you provide on PinballX. Don't think my life would be the same without it.
