GameEx Startup Video 2014

Hope this is the right section to post this in. I decided to do my own GameEx branded startup video for my HTPC and arcade cab. It's kind of "epic" in terms of length. Features a rockin' score from DKC: Tropical Freeze. It has kind of an "Evolution" vibe to it! I'll post it to the EmuMovies FTP if anyone wants the High Quality version. Enjoy!

Thanks nullPointer! I always wanted to do something creative for GameEx in terms of videos. It's a bit long, but it keeps the kids entertained and gives them something to look at when GE loads up. I might do a few more of these, but not quite as long!

That is worth it for the nostalgia kick alone! I played 90% of those games to death at some point in my life. And i agree with null it def makes you want to get your game on Streets of Rage! I shudder to think of the money i lost to that machine. Great soundtrack too! :thumbsup:

Thanks guys! I'm thinking of getting with Circo to redo/update all the system intro videos. I need to find out what's been done if any. How would you guys feel about "branded" system intros... like having a small system logo in the corner of each intro video like I did with the GameEx video above? I could always leave it out as I realize some ppl might not like this concept, but I think having the system logo branding each video makes certain themes within GameEx and other front-ends "POP"... (not that HyperSpin needs any more eye candy) just an idea.

@Draco1962 Didn't you do a set of 3D system logos? I'd like to use those if possible

I think it'd be more inclined to use intro vids if there was some type of logo that always shows the system as opposed to a bunch of random gameplay. FWIW.

Yerp - system watermark would be good. Use system vids in screensaver - and be good to ID the system playing....

Ok, this is kind of what I was going for... maybe I could find some foottage of some of the actual consoles or something like that to throw in the begining of these beforw the actual previews start. Most of the intro videos range from a minute and a half, to 3 minutes. I feel three minute videos are decent and allow enough time to showcase some gameplay. Here is one for SNES and I have also done one for Sega Genesis. I'll upload these to my folder on the Emumovies FTP and see what Circo thinks about branding the system intro videos with the system watermark.

Sorry, I just happen to see your post, I missed it earlier. Are you talking about a video that actually shows the console? I could probably throw in some system footage at the begining of the system intros provided i can find decent pieces of footage to use. Or maybe have the picture of the actual system display for a few seconds before going into the gameplay videos? This is an interesting idea and I'd like to run with it. It's a shame the older Nintendo and Sega comercials aren't in better quality. I could do some serious work with blending those in somehow if only the quality were better...

I think that's what I'm going to be shooting for with redoing all the system intro videos. L@@ks Sexy! There really isn't a "time standard" on some of the older intro videos. What do you guys think a decent length would be for the system intros? 2 minutes?

I'm in agreement with Adultery, the watermarked logo in the corner look's great.

I would think that 2 minutes would be sufficient for a system intro video showing 5 or 6 seconds of per game footage.

I like the system watermark much better and also think that 2 mins is plenty long enough. Maybe at the beginning you could have the system logo and system image for a few seconds then fade into the video start.

As for the 3D logos, I think it is KRC that put those together. A 3D logo with my previous suggestion would look sexy IMO.
