ClassicGMR Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 My interest in this one hasn't waned at all. I'm looking forward to it as much now as when I first saw it.Nice work. Quote
Draco1962 Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) After some further tinkering, I have decided to emphasize the PCB schematic just a touch and also will create the logos with a slight transparency. I think it pops a bit better and adds more depth. Edited August 26, 2013 by Draco1962 Added blue tint to "glare" layer on logo 2 Quote
ehuonder Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Looking good! I used to have a motherboard, with green overlay tinting and a lot of glow that I used to use (and still love). Your theme is bringing back fond images. I look forward to your completion! Quote
Draco1962 Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 Thanks, guys! I am still experimenting with the layers for the foreground/background images as well as with the logo images themselves. While I like the gloss/glare effect over the logos along with the slight transparency, I am considering re-working it to be more inline (slight bluish tint) with the rest of the theme. This will delay the release, but I want to get it as right as possible. I have a ways to go on the logos and will probably send out some requests for logos for some of the older PC systems and handhelds in the very near future. I still intend to release the logo packs at the same time I release the theme. Quote
Draco1962 Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 Alright, I modified the post here and added a second capture with the blue tinted "glare" layer- I think the blue tint makes for a marked improvement over the first and gels better with the theme. Your thoughts? Quote
Adultery Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Take my advice with a grain of salt but man that selector bar is just too distracting IMHO.I'ts just super loud and seems out of place./me runs, hides Quote
Draco1962 Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 OK, I get it, you and a few others are not fans of the bar. I have been considering some other ideas for it if that helps ease your mind a little! LOL!So what do you think about the changes to the logo and the background? Quote
Adultery Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I think it looks super elegant and professional. Design wise it really looks like Media Center. It's really sharp!Aside from that one thing... The bar just brings it down a tiny notch. Lol! Quote
Draco1962 Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 Alrighty then - now with a new selector bar. It has a slight flickering florescent bulb like effect as the gradient shifts up and down vertically. 1 Quote
KRC Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Just touching on the subject of the selector bar, I do like the way the orange bar looks, maybe you could include 2 or 3 selector bars to suit what the user likes. Quote
Tempest Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I like the blue tint. :-)Honestly I can't see a difference in the selector bar. My eyes are getting old. Quote

If the end-user likes it after it is released, then awesome! If not, they will move on to something else, or, even better yet, create something of their own! I like that idea even better. OK, gonna release a POS theme now just to encourage someone to do me one better! I like the blue tint. :-)Honestly I can't see a difference in the selector bar. My eyes are getting old.The difference is between the selector bar in the post with the two images for the white vs. blue tint in the logo file and the post following Adultery's response. Quote
ClassicGMR Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 The blue selector bar is more subtle but I also liked the red one. Maybe I'm just weird that way. As for creating my own theme - I haven't got one creative bone in my body. Mine would look like a DOS prompt! 1 Quote

Draco1962 Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 Have completed 90% of the core logos total and about 30% completion of Console logo conversion. Still quite a ways to go with Manufacturer, Handheld, and PC System logos. Here is a brief video of the theme in action with changes that include:- New selector bar- Logos featuring blue tinted gradient overlays and transparency- Updated some core images 5 Quote
hansolo77 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Nice, and the 8-bit sounds are cool too. Quote

nullPointer Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 This theme is looking really great Draco! Just like ClassicGMR I was a fan of the blue/orange selector bar, but the subtle version is definitely growing on me. Nice Work! Quote
Draco1962 Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 No pics, just a quick note that I am adding a few details along the way that I think will make the them very unique overall. Since I got into adding schematics to the background, I have decided, wherever I can, to change the schematic to one that relates to the systems referenced. So for Atari 2600, will have the diagram for the mainboard of that unit. If one is not to be found, I may choose to do a diagram of an notable accessory instead. 1 Quote
KRC Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Can't wait to see some snaps of the updates Mike. Quote
