My first Raiden hi-score submission for Team GameEx: points: 350,090 which scores Team GameEx a preliminary second place in that game (@GC: the score is in the spreadsheet but I noticed it takes a while for it to show up)

Had myself some good reflexes today. Even the annoying guy in the white boots didn't kill me every time he appeared. score - 618,550 I think that after you have reached like levels 11 or 12 it cools off a little in that it doesn't get much faster anymore. Of course this observation needs to be scientifically proven - I'm on it

Really like your artwork, you did a fantastic job so far. I think making a good artwork is the toughest but also most rewarding step toward finishing one's cabinet! (i know - been there ) I as well would stick with the xenomorph - but wondered if you thought about discarding the top image. I think the xenomorph is such a striking pic it doesn't need a second one. Also you wouldn't need to match colors and the like between the two pics which can get a bit hairy. You could put the Nostromo logo in the top spot, making it a bit bigger and maybe align it with the logo on the front (marquee). For the background in the upper part maybe you could use some kind of white dots to simulate a star filled universe or some planet (or part of) like in the opening scenes of the first movie. Again, great artwork already. All suggestions strictly based on personal preference.

Got a new one - 431,600 Near perfect run - it won't get any better for sure, at least not for me... had 0.01 secs on average on first round which resulted in a nice bonus, almost no unfair killings in the first few rounds and, most importantly, another extra life by spelling EXTRA. This is a fantastic game.

I'm lucky in that my father owned a copy of CorelDRAW X5 which was transferable in the family. Not sure what it costs but it was a blast working with once I got used to it. Other than commercial software I can recommend GIMP. As for vectorization: there are vectorization services on the internet, I used VectorMagic for my artwork. You have to subscribe, but they do the first 2 images for free. As long as you don't mind them having your images, I found the results way better than the inbuilt Corel vectorizer.

Yeah, me too! The game's that good! Given the rather simple principle (shoot baddies, spare town folks) it's surprisingly deep with all those different .. err... "customer" types I found it helpful to stay in a level as long as you can. Get 11 deposits as quickly as possible and then actively go for points at the populated windows until the timer gets red. Then get your last deposit and finish the level. Also, if you manage to shoot a baddie in precisely the moment he draws you get 5k points (and if you do it 5 times you get an extra live and 20k bonus - managed to do it once, actually).

Aw come on, you serious? I had a run specifically looking for said lady's behavior... hmmm... couldn't find anything. I just shoot the baddie appearing behind that lady. Nothing out of the ordinary. Sorry... could it be that for some very strange reason you shoot too quickly and _between_ lady and tramp?

That's a fun game... they don't make those anymore I found that in order to get higher scores it's better to start at round 1 and try to get those "fair" bonuses which can get really high. score: 109,200

Yeah thanks a lot guys. I tried building a Mame Hi Score Games submenu and it worked just fine with the snapper. I didn't know about custom Mame lists and really like that concept - so many possibilities (horizontal shmups, vertical shmups, childhood favorites, you name it). Thanks again for the quick help.
-
Thanks - but no luck with the MAME database. [in utter confession of total newbie-ness] What exactly do you mean with the MAME custom list method?

Finally found the time to set up the Hi Score Snapper - now this is a nice tool Adultery! Kudos!! I've experienced one minor hiccup though - perhaps one of you guys can point me in the right direction: All working like a charm when I start one of the hiscore games right from the MAME menu in GameEx. However, when I start the same game from the virtual "GameEx HiScore Competition" emulator list (which I set up as described here), no snap is taken and the snapper log says something about "<game name> is not a Hi-Score game!". Probably something with the configuration of the HiScore "emulator", so I enclosed the ini. Thanks and good hi-scoring!

Like it... it's so... Japanese! Gave it a few tries and had a pretty good run, beating the second boss for the first time! Didn't get the second LUCKY though, so future improvement is imminent (I hope ) SMA rules as per post #1 788,900

Never played this... when I was a kid I played mainly on my C64 and the Green Beret port was pretty awful. Plain unplayable. Gave it a try when I saw it here and I find it surprisingly good. So good in fact I spent the whole weekend with it So: initials SMA rules as per post #1 MAME 146 score 92,720 Will go for 100k and - of course - 4th place tomorrow
