  2. I have tried one of the other default themes and the errors did not occur. I'll try updating directx. EDIT: I did update DirectX. The second problem still happens with my theme. Not sure about the first problem, since it hasn't happened to me yet after the update. Here is the Theme folder. Tiki 1.rar
  3. I have two ways that GameEx has started crashing (both started after the last update). The first is kinda random when it happens. It happens after the loading screen, before the startup screen. The second one happens everytime I exit one of my fan games (not any emulators). Here are the logs. Edit: The crashes seem to be related to my custom theme. But I'm not sure why, my theme doesn't seem to be overly complicated. Startup Crash.txt Fan Game Crash.txt
  4. I have applied the fix suggested and it works. But if I am correct, GameEx has the ability to make the esc key close emulators (like it does with ZSNES). If I run it (ZSNES) outside of GameEx, esc just opens the menu, if I run it inside GameEx, esc closes it and brings me to the menu. So would this be a bug in GameEx?
  5. So once again I have a question that will most likely be answered by something simple but, I just can't figure it out. I have a fan game that is 2 (+) players. The controls are locked so I can't customize them in game. So my problem is, it seems that the Advanced Emulator Config only handles one controller, and I'm not sure how to program any of the other players in. Can the config handle more than one joystick or am I out of luck?
  6. Thanks. With a program this expansive, some of the smaller and simpler details get to be a bit tricky to find. I do appreciate all the help everyone is giving to this NOOB. I try to find my answers in older forums and in the tutorials section before I post a topic.
  7. It seems that, on my system, I cannot exit Nestopia with the esc key. This works with all other emulators and programs I have set up. I tried scouring the forums for an answer but no luck.
  8. In the menu editor, i can set up what menu option has what logo. So in the logos, I put all custom graphics and assigned them off to whatever section I wanted that particular graphic in. Here is the problem. It works will all of the items except for LAST PLAYED and MAME. The graphics simply do not show up. I switched the graphics with another menu item that worked. And same problem. LAST PLAYED and MAME would not display the graphic. So I know it is not the artwork so it must be Menu Editor itself.
  9. That was really simple. I spend the longest time not figuring out the simplest stuff.
  10. So I've got my controllers mapped to keyboard keys (so that my emulators dont ask to be reconfigured everytime i start up). Unfortunately I can't navigate gameex with those keys. I push my select button, and It will automatically move the list to the letter K and select that option. So I was wondering if there was a way to turn off the keyboard in GameEx. So the only time letters are being pushed is in game, not on the menu. I dont want to play Killer Instinct everytime I try to load a game in my SNES emulator. GameEx seems to read both the controller input and the keyboard letters assigned to those buttons.
  11. I've been here for almost a month and everyone has been very helpful to me for creating my theme. If there isn't an answer to your question, you would just have to work around it. And if there is no work around or solution, try making a request for that option. It might just get changed.
  12. Another suggestion. Can we disable the start screen bg and fg while the GameEx logo is animating? I like seeing my logo pop out over a black screen, then have the bg and fg images appear after.
  13. So the emulators that get downloaded and installed by GameEx are updated?
  14. You like robot dancing with your arcade?
  15. Build one. It is very rewarding.
  16. Wow that was fast. Thanks. Gonna need the Karaoke for a festival in a couple weeks!
  17. I just got the newest update and the Karaoke function no longer works. I get no messages, it just doesn't play anything.
  18. All your base......
  19. I've also had some problems with this. Except I didn't have the escape key in that combination. I set my key combo and it just doesn't work at all.
  20. So, I'm essentially trying to skin a theme to fit more of my style, but the theme I liked as a base has its backgrounds that shake and move around. How do I get this to stop? Edit: found my answer. Though now, I can't seem to find out how to alter 1 thing. When you start up GameEx, the GameEx logo pops out, and 6 symbols zoom out. I need those symbols to go away. I just can't find where that is done. I know I can change the GameEx logo. I know that other themes don't have those 6 symbols. So I just need to figure out how to remove those symbols.
  21. Ill check out the user feature and see if that does (essentially) what I was talking about. SUGGESTION For Karaoke mode, have the menu be able to be set to playing the jukebox instead of the karaoke audio samples, so while im selecting a song from the list I, my "patrons" wont listen to slivers of songs. Essentially the same as in a Karaoke bar. Between singers (while the dj selects the next track for the next person) regular jukebox music plays. Aslo have the Jukebox fade in and out between Karaoke songs. ANOTHER SUGGESTION I see how the 3d transition fades between the BGS. Can we have an option where the 2d BGS also fade, instead of the harsh jump cut between screens.
  22. That answers everything except for what features are disabled when I set it to simple mode. Also, how do I get rid of the album artwork from showing up on the start page?
  23. Some sort of administrator password feature for certain menu items. I would like a password promt to show up when I select the setup wizard though GameEx. That way, random people can't walk up to my machine and butcher the command lines, theme, and layout of the machine. (or exit GameEx) Also be able to disable it if someone doesn't want to use the feature.
  24. So I am trying to make my own custom theme. So far I have managed to change backgrounds. But now I'm getting to the point where I want to change some of the menu options and I'm having trouble figuring it all out. I've looked around the forums for a few hours trying to find my answers but with little luck. 1. What menu options are removed when I set it to "Simple" mode? 2. How do I remove certain options like "search" "more games and options" "multimedia" and "exit/shutdown?" My machine is designed to work in festival environments and I dont want random people being able to access features that use the internet and I also dont want them to be able to leave GameEx. I know I can set special key combinations that will enable only me or my crew to leave the program. 3. Can I move certain options to other menus? For example, I want to have the "Jukebox" and "Karaoke" functions in the main menu. 4. On that same note, can I make additional menus? I want to have the "Play Random Game" in its own menu so when I leave the machine on it, the only option that can be chosen is "Play Random Game," I also would like to know if I can link the back to that menu when I leave the random game I just played. 5. How do I disable the visualizer and album artwork that appears in the rest of the menus when I set the jukebox to play automatically. i dont want to see the song and squiggly lines. I just want to hear it. 6. How can I rename objects on the field? For example, I want the title for the start menu to read "Tiki's Artcade" instead of "Start.." Essentially I want my start menu to look like this Most Played Last Played Favorites Games Play Random Game (Linked to its own menu) Jukebox Karaoke
