Yeah, the file is there and I also have the download going for mapping. I can see the window populate right before gameex starts up. Edit: I am not at home now, but I am pretty sure there were three files in that location. The gameslist and settings were two, but I can't recall the third file. I made hot keys on my arcade controls to make the Player 1 button act as a shift key so I can both exit and pause by hitting and holding that P1 button and then pressing the next button to either exit or pause. Obviously, you cannot have a player pushbutton dedicated to pause or exit, so I made it a little bit more difficult to hit. I read about that on BYOAC, so you can hide your keyboard. I am wondering if by using my gameex/iPac mapped keys, that is making my shift key turn into the number 1 button, that corresponds with Player 1 on the iPac program. I think then I could just hit Player 1 and then home. Who knows.. I'll check when I get home. I feel like even when you dedicate a button, it still stays the same on the keyboard and has no affect there... Is there a print out or anything I can post that would make my rambling more understandable? hehe. For example, the log file.. I like the idea of a tablet. I am wondering if I don't just remove one of the Mario characters on the front and mount in a cheap LCD monitor. I believe you could then make it show the RSS feed as well as the controls for the games while playing, correct? OH MAN!!! I'm losing it. My wife is going to kill me if I start working on the cabinet again! hahahah It's a good hobby. Thanks for all the help so far!

I have the plugin and I changed the info by way of the manager. But for some reason, it won't take snapshots. I have an IPAC 4, but I'm using the keyboard to hit shift+home. I don't here the snap or see the file. Can I change the default snapshot keys in settings by way of notepad? I'm wondering if a key mapping is messing it up.
-
That may work. The speakers are there and I also have the ir sensor for my arcade guns mixed into the crazy bezel above the monitor. Thanks for the info
-
I may ask for ideas on a second monitor. Here's my cab, any ideas on where I could put a second monitor?
-
Yeah, I have the generic gameex theme with some tweaks. It looks like I have to do something special to have it running on screen. Is there a .exe program that I need to run on the hiscore snapper? I download your plugin downloader, but they snap won't work. I love the map file idea
-
I'm still working on getting the snap plugin working, but I got 79,500. I'll get there soon enough.
-
Well, I got the second emulator up and running. Now to attack the RSS feed option. It'll still work without a second monitor, correct?
-
Yeah, thanks to all you guys. I have free time on Monday. I think I'll tackle these things then and if I'm lucky I'll have some time to go after some hi scores!!

Unreal. The MAP file and the RSS feed. This is truly sweet. I can't wait to get a little free time and work on making my gameex experience that much greater. I may have to ask a few questions as some of it seems over my head. I think I'll be fine though. Thankfully you've added photos for the technologically inept! Haha. I will always miss the old arcades at the malls, pizza places, etc. But the more the hi scores get integrated the less I will miss placing a quarter down to get 'next.' If you went downstairs to my machine right now, you'd see a quarter leaning on the screen!!

Wow, all I can say is wow. Adultery! Your plugin's are sick! I haven't been on here in quite some time. I've been pretty busy (happily busy) with the new addition to our family. An amazing daughter. Once I start playing some arcade again (hoping my daughter will want to play too, specifically Mappy and Mario. Honestly, there are not that many kid friendly games out like there were in the past!!), I am going to really enjoy taking advantage of these new features you have created! I hope they will work with the new Evolution, which I am also excited for. Maybe they will integrate high scores for gameex users right into the front end! haha.

LEADERBOARD Hi-Score Competition
MNMax21 replied to GimmeClassics's topic in GameEx Hi-Score Competition
Ha! My wife and I had our first child recently and I have not been on here in forever! This is awesome! I am going to have to start trying to get some of these scores! Thanks for all the amazing work GimmeClassics. This is sweet! EDIT: Hansolo too! -
Sounds good to me. I'm just glad to see its up and running. I'll just have to play some more. Lord knows I've never been opposed to playing a video game! This'll be sweet!

Awesome, was out of town for work and came home to this. I can't believe it's all set up. I am looking forward to dropping some scores in the new threads. I'm happy to see we got forum. Thanks to the admins! Thanks Hans and GC for setting it up. This should be sweet!!!

A sub forum would be excellent. If we get enough traffic they may look into it. I'd say its not an issue until we get enough traffic to need it. I like Heiden of having more than one game though. It gets a bit eye buggy playing the same game over and over! Haha

[DEPRECATED] Hi-Score competition - Mario Bros.
MNMax21 replied to MNMax21's topic in GameEx Hi-Score Competition
I've been competing against a good friend for about 5 days in Mario Bros. it took awhile to get the score I have, too bad my buddy has over 114,000… -
Ok, I started another topic dedicated to Mario Bros. for high scores.
-
Well, if you have a smartphone just download the tapatalk app. I can take a pic to upload right in the app itself. Should we roll with Mario Bros. for a little while as a test run?
-
Not built in high scores, it has the ability to keep your high scores. It had the generic scores which were easy to beat. Thus the need for competition!!
-
Not sure on a screenshot option, but that'd be sweet. I'm not sure if you need the option with high scores even for MAME. If you just don't restart or exit out of the game, I think it would just stay until you close. I believe the add on for high scores just makes you be able to exit the game and return with the scores still there. I actually used a MAME build I found on the Internet that had built in high scores. That building MAME was a bit more than I wanted to tackle at the time.

I am able to run games through Zinc in the command prompt. I kept all the files separate, as in my game and bios files are in the roms directory for Zinc. I am wondering exactly how the transition works in GameEx. Do I need to have all the Zinc specified roms/bios in the MAME rom directory and GameEx will just automatically know it's a Zinc rom and use Zinc instead of MAME? Is this accomplished by just saying yes to Zinc in the menu or do I need to create a custom list? Thanks!

Well, I think it should be one credit/coin, seems the best way and the truest to the classics. I guess there really is now way to truly make sure this is 100% honest. I just think its a friendly competition and we can hope everyone would keep it honest. I think it's up for any game that people would want, just keep it one credit and no cheats. Again, relying on honesty of people involved. If someone posts a world record beating score, then we'd probably safely assume they're up to something... Haha
-
Is that the proper KISS phrase? I vote #2. Mainly because I don't even have wolfmame. Ha
-
I'm thinking keep it simple stupid… KISS. I think if it was for money or something more than street cred we may need to worry about cheating. I'm wondering if we can maybe have a specific forum section for this and then have 20 subsections with each dedicated to game with scoring posted. If not, we can go the one very month route. It might be nice to have a few to choose from though, rather than just playing one until your thumbs go numb every month.
