  1. Hello guys, for the first time today I used the Delete button (Canc in my laptop keyboard) both in the emulator game list and in the game info screen. It seems that it's not working since I have the (supposed) deleted games still in the list. Changing keyboard layout from Italian to USA doesn't change anything. I restarted GameEx some time, and checked the "ExcludedFiles" entry in GameEx.ini. The games aren't listed in the ini. Am I missing some option in the setup? Or what else? As usual I attach my ini file. Thank you for any advice you will give me. Alpha. GameEx.txt
  2. Thank you very much! Well, now let's do some compiling...
  3. Pardon, I'm a little off topic, but I think it's better requesting here than opening a new post for a dumb question. I just spent half an hour searching for that guide/post that explains step-by-step how to compile MameUI, but couldn't find it. I'm sure it exists, I red it some time ago. Could someone point this dumb head to the right link, please?
  4. I just wanna update this post to say thanks to Tempest. This program will help me to clean my list AND (most important) my roms folder a lot.
  5. I don't think you can with the emulator internal options. I use Vice and CCS regularly, and the joypad is configured once for all. The keyboard input is assigned to specific keys just because the original games require those keys on the keyboard. But if xpadder isn't your cup of tea you can try a very little and useful program like JoyToKey, which allows you to convert joypad into keyboard input. But you still have to configure each game accordingly, or at least, since C64 uses only one key for fire, you can assign all the remaining buttons to the most common used keys. I think this is the best solution. Regards, Alpha.
  6. Hi! In the end I choose to clean my list a bit and keep only one version per game, this way I'll have a clean list altogether. I prefer to avoid duplicate or multiple versions. But the "Merge Set" feature is great, I agree. You can consider this topic as resolved. Thank you very much for your support, guys! P.S.: Just to say that I didn't find "Use Database Name" in the Setup Wizard. I found it only in GameExConfig.exe. Cheers, Alpha
  7. Thanks, but this is exactly what I did, and couldn't find that option. I'll check better later. Speaking of the second suggestion, I think it's a very interesting approach and I'll give it a try, although I'm afraid it could not be the best solution for me since the great majority of my games aren't merged (I mean: 1 zip = 1 file = 1 game). It could be the ideal solution for those few games that can stay merged (i.e. those with english translations). Still wondering where to find "Use database name" option... Cheers, Alpha.
  8. Where I can find this option? I checked setup wizard and my ini file, and didn't find "Use database name". Thank you for your support! EDIT: the goal for me is to display the text between [ ] and hide the text between ( ). I dunno if it's a bug, but the NES system is actually right for me, due to the fact that [ ] are displayed and ( ) are excluded. This way I can distinguish between Game 1 and Game 1 [T-Eng]. SNES hides both [ ] and ( ) so this results in a duplicate entry in my game list.
  9. NES system roms: --------------------------- Game 1 (Japan) [T-Eng] is displayed as: Game 1 [T-Eng] but in SNES system roms: Game 1 (Japan) [T-Eng] is displayed as: Game 1 Both ( ) and [ ] brackets are excluded. In short, i've set "Remove text in brackets" to yes both in the SNES and NES system, but i notice an incongruence: NES still visualise the "[ ]" brackets and hides ( ), but snes Hides both "[ ]" and "( )".
  10. I'm a newbie in this matter, so please consider my attempt just as a try. I've noticed this line in your ini: I would suggest the following procedures: 1) delete all files with "cache" in their name and/or extension that are in GameEx\DATA directory. 1) make sure you have downloaded the databeses during GameEx installation. If you did, the entry above would suggest me to update the most recent ones.
  11. Yes! It works now! GameEx sees the music file. Now the issue is that the music sounds really weird... It plays slowly than normal and there is like a "bump" sound in the background. Don't know if this is a problem in my setup. Does GameEx play sid music using SiDPlay2, or it has its own internal player? Because I don't have this problem with mp3 files, and SIDPlay2 works just fine outside of GameEx. EDIT: After having searched a bit into GameEx folders, I saw that GameEx works with the SID plugin for Winamp. Well, but what could be the cause that produces a so disturbed sound? I could install Winamp and the SID plugin just for testing it outside of GameEx, but will avoid this, since I have already too much music players installed. No one else is running GameBase64, just to know if it's a problem related only on my setup (maybe an hardware issue)?
  12. Of course Tom. Here it is: Or if you prefer I've attached a txt file. Cheers. Paths.ini.txt
  13. I'm sorry to say that the problem still occurs even with the 11.59 version. My log file says only that gamebase system is enabled.
  14. Absolutely fantastic! New interesting features, bug corrections... I think I cannot wonder anything else today. Thanks Tom!
  15. Thanks! I and all the C64 fans will be grateful to you! Feel free to ask me if you need someone for testing.
  16. Excuse me Tom, I don't want to abuse of your patience, but this is a screen of the game info/launch for The Last Ninja (GameEx in English), which has a sid attached for sure, in fact I can launch it and listen to using the gamebase interface. Normally I can browse through the GameBase collection and view covers, maps, and all sorts of extras, but no trace of game music. In fact it seems like GameEx doesn't see the Music Path, but I can assure you that it is correctly set up - in fact there is no problem launching the sid file using the gamebase interface.
  17. Ok, good to know, but where can I see them? I think a coulple of screenshots will explain the matter better: This is what I see in the game menu: So, I can't see trace of music files.. although I can access all extra content in GameBase64. But, if I lanuch GameBase (runned a couple of secods after GameEx in this screenshots): ... I can hear the sound. So please, what i'm doing wrong? I've come so far with configuring GB, please do let me know what to do next... I'm sure there is something to do but I ignore what it is....
  18. Thanks, I love GB integration with GameEx too: my gamin' adventure began with the glorious Commodore 64 indeed. @Tom: Speaking of wich, I would like to see a new feature in GamEx: the ability to run sid files from the HVSC collection. Since GameEx is able to read database and directories from GB, I think it won't be an hassle to implement this functionality. Usually sid files are played using sidplayer2w, wich supports command lines. Please, consider this request. P.S. Not sure if I'm right having written my request here, the fact is that it ragards half GB, half GameEx at the same time... I will post my request in the (strictly speaking) right post if necessary.
  19. I'm not sure, but in GameEx\DATA directory there is a file called gamelist.txt. Try to change the name in this file but make a backup first, dunno if this will mess things up.

    Very useful! Thanks Stu!
  21. Whoa! For me the problem is solved... Thanks to Tom, Adultery and chrismcd, 'cause having been followed your advice I've been able to solve completely this issue. Just let me summarise a couple of things, to specify exactly what other users will (eventually) have to do in order to have GB up and working with the "aesthetic" name you want. 1) Make sure you have the latest 1.3 version of GameBase installed (it's 1.3 at the time I'm writing). GameEx needs to find gblauncher.exe in your specified GameBase directory (and you won't find gblauncher.exe in previous versions of GameBase.. so it's like to say you need to have 1.3 or, hopefully, higher versions of GameBase). 2) By default, GameBase needs (apparently) to have a subfolder called GBC_V07 with other essential files among with the main GBC_V07.mdb database. In order to have GB working with a custom name (which will be accepted by GameEx too), just make sure that your GBC_V07 folder and GBC_V07.mdb database match the same name. So, let's suppose you have this predefined scenario: C:\Program Files\GameBase\GBC_V07\ C:\Program Files\GameBase\GBC_V07\GBC_V07.mdb In this scenario, GameBase will display "GBC_V07" as corresponding entry for GB. Now, if you rename that "GBC_V07" in both the occurrences with something you prefer (i. e. GamaBase 64), then you'll have something like following: C:\Program Files\GameBase\GameBase 64\ C:\Program Files\GameBase\GBC_V07\GameBase 64.mdb For me, it works like a charm.... :)
  22. Hi! Problem solved after the upgrade to version 1.3. As stated in the log file: 02:00:31.6 16/02/2011: gamebase support enabled. 02:00:31.6 16/02/2011: ERROR: Could not find gamebase path or gblanucher.exe 02:00:31.6 16/02/2011: gamebase support disabled. GameEx searches for gamebase path or gblauncher.exe. Well, gblauncher.exe doesn't exist in the previous version of GameBase, so obviously GameEx couldn't enable GB support. Now GB seems to work very well in GameEx (in terms of functionality)... Only a little "aesthetic" issue... There is a way to change the gamebase name to something different from "GBC_v07"? This name appears under emulated games menu. It's related to the name of the GB database (and can't be changed). It would be better if we could change it into something more meaningful like "GameBase 64" or even "Commodore 64"...
  23. Ehm... you pointed me to the right spot Tom. Here is an extract from my log file: 02:00:31.6 16/02/2011: gamebase support enabled. 02:00:31.6 16/02/2011: ERROR: Could not find gamebase path or gblanucher.exe 02:00:31.6 16/02/2011: gamebase support disabled. It turns out that I'm using the old version of GameBase (v1.2). Now I'm going to update to version 1.3. I'll let you know. Thanks.
  24. Thanks from me, too!!! It's wonderful to see how GameEx grows week after week... Keep up your excellent work, Tom!!!
  25. How GameEx reads the GameBase databases? Maybe it checks something in the registry for GB installation directory? However, I set my gamebase directory in F:\GIOCHI\COMMODORE 64\DATA\GameBase, and therein there is GameBase.exe, with its subfolder named GB_v05, which contains the gamebase64 config files and database. As reported in my GameEx.ini: [GameBase] Enabled=True Path=F:\GIOCHI\COMMODORE 64\DATA\GameBase I can't understand what's wrong with this... Doesn't should be sufficient to set up the right directory? I can't see GameBase in my Emulated Games menu, I see my Commodore 64 games with snaps etc.. but they are a completely separate collection... nothing to do with gamebase.
