  1. I wanted to download the 3d cabinets but the link in the guide does not work. I've looked on this site but can't find them. --------------From the guide------------- 1) Go to the GameEx website and download the 3D arcade cabinet models zip file. http://www.gameex.com/Download/Addons,utilitiesandmedia.aspx -------------- Where can I download these? Thanks
  2. A few thoughts on GameEx and the themes for me. I've been working on my setup for a week and I'm getting there. GameEx has a lot of stuff and I'm pretty impressed. I found a theme called Default - Brokeh that I like. Its not flashy but it functions very well. There's a lot of cool little features in the themes that Mala doesn't have. I still can't customize as much as I'd like to but I probably could if I had more time and skill. Anyway, I'm a GameEx guy now and won't be going back to Mala as there is everything I'd ever need and much much more. I'm really looking for to the Evo release.
  3. I have an old set of Nebula roms so I tried that again and it worked this time. I had something wrong with my rom folder path in GameEX. I saw where someone said they pointed to the Mame rom path but that didn't work for me so I'm not sure how that is supposed to work. I'd like to do that in case these roms have been updated but not sure how to accomplish this. Also, I can't get a clean exit. I push the escape key and I go to a windowed mode just like model 2 so I'm missing how to set up an escape key to exit these 2 emulators. In my old Mala setup I used Closemul but I thought I read that Closemul isn't needed in GameEx and all of these special keystrokes can be setup. How do I setup these emu's to exit with just the escape key?
  4. I'm trying to setup Nebula v2.25b and had some questions. - Are all these games in v2.25b in Mame and running fast in Mame? Is there any advantage to using Nebula versus Mame? I used to play this a lot for the Metal Slug games when I had Mala setup. - When I launch a game from GameEx it looks like it launches but then it comes back to GameEx right away. Nebula runs fine standalone. - I tried using the rom path for Mame and I've tried also from Nebula's rom folder but the games don't play. Should this make a difference? Gameex.ini and log.ini are attached Thanks GameEx.ini log.txt
  5. That's a pretty cool feature for the gap. - Is there a way to name those before or after the game that they are last played and most played? - Nebula shows this also but it has 3 different lines there. What's the third one for? Thanks
  6. I'm using that latest Model 2 v1.1a also. - I changed my rom path to my Mame rom path. - I'm using the same database as yours. - I'm using the same map file as yours. The map file looks good with no gaps. This is an awesome feature of GameEx. - I changed the exiting to use the same as yours. I see in the advanced configurator that the game pad exit is enabled. I disabled this after it didn't work for me. I'm not using a gamepad so I just want Model2 to fully close with the Escape key only. I tried the Map Keys to Yes and No on the first page of the emulator setup to no effect. Model2 is still going to the window mode when I push the Escape key. I also still have that gap and redundancy in the game list. What else can I try? - I included my new gameex.ini file. Thanks GameEx.ini
  7. I've searched and can't find the answer. 1) I'm trying to do an exit out of model2 back into gameex. When I push escape the model2 window appears and I have to use my mouse to exit the window. I tried a lot of the emulator exit options but they aren't working for me. I also tried to setup something in the advanced config editor with a "alt-e then wait then an e" but that didn't work for me either. Since I don't see others asking about this I'm suspecting its something easy that I'm missing. 2) The model2 games list shows 2 games then a gap then the rest. How do I fix this? I've attached my gameex.ini and the model2.ini. Thanks GameEx.ini EMULATOR.INI
  8. I didn't see that other thread about this and it talks about just what I was looking for. http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/10822-gameex-not-displaying-all-mame-games/?p=84007 I would still like to be able to see these in my list and then be able to custom filter as needed. - I was going to use this to verify that GameEx has my whole set and that I'm not missing anything. - Haze or one of the others in the future might start making these somehow playable even without the mechanical gear. I don't know how but who knows. - Tom mentioned in that other thread that Slot Machines are included in the auto-filtering. I know that some Slot Machines do work in Mame so I'd definitely like them to show. I've got 2 in my basement so I do love the slots. Is there an ini file somewhere where I can make a quick change to get them all? Can I put in a request to be able to have the whole list and get more filtering? Thanks PS. the filter in the setup wizard for no casino games shows 'Gimme Casion' as an option.
  9. Here it is: go to the 2nd post down from Tom. http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/13879-resolved-reset-change-view-to-default/?p=114748
  10. I decided to give GameEx a good long hard try with my new cabinet so I went ahead with the lifetime version. I tried to work on a new Mala setup but ran into too many problems and got tired of trying to do crappy workarounds. I'm looking forward to the Evolution release but I'm also feeling pretty good about the version as it is now and what I want to do. I've got lots of questions but I just need to do more fiddling and researching on some things. Thanks
  11. I'm trying to get the All Mame Roms count to work. I've tried to enable everything in GameEx but I must be missing something simple I'm guessing. I have a complete v158 split, non-merged, set at 50.5 GB not including CHD's. In Mala, the game count is 29,873. In RomCenter, the game count is 29,909. In GameEx, the game count is 11,273. Attached is my gameex.ini. What am I missing in my setup where I'm not get the whole game count? Thanks GameEx.ini
  12. I tried and tried to get back to the normal views but could not no matter how many times I cycled through the views to find the right one. I found in another thread where there is a "DeleteAllViews.exe" file so I ran that and my views are all back to normal. Maybe I pushed something wrong in the Change Views or something else. I definitely don't understand it. It looks like others had this problem so maybe that's why there was an exe file made. I don't really know. Thanks
  13. How can the horizontal snap scroll game list view be changed to a view that puts the game names in a vertical text list instead? For example on the Carbon and Steel Theme when I go to the All Mame games and others they goes into this mode. It seems like the change view function is working strangely. I can't seem to get to the original view that I had for this theme and others also. What happened to the views or how do I get back to the original views as designed?
  14. Hmmm, I was really looking for a total theme/layout editor to do more than just move a few objects around. I already have the background so Gimp or Photoshop isn't going to help me. Yes, Mala and GameEx are different, but I'm surprised that there isn't more customization for the theme layout for this in GameEx after all these years. Will Evolution have a total theme customization editor? Thanks for your reply.
  15. Hi, I'm considering purchasing GameEx for my new Mame installation as my old computer is just about dead. I used Mala in that one which I really liked but I see that Mala is just about dead and is not supported anymore from Loadman. I see in the forums that there are compatibility problems with new versions of Mame and Mala also. I was excited to see GameEx showing up in various places on the web in advertising and it looks like its going strong. I've been testing GameEx and I like what I see except for I can't figure out the theme editor which is kind of a high priority for me and my setup which I would assume would be for most people. I was barely able to resurrect a couple screenshots from my old Mala layout editor setup although I couldn't get a live shot. Can GameEx make a theme like I've got from Mala? I tried and the only thing I could do in the theme editor was move some objects around, change font size, and resize stuff. Is there any customization at all available like Mala or am I missing something? Is it in the paid version? As you can see I like to add the game property texts and various images, marquees, snaps, control panels, flyers, etc. Thanks, Scott
