  1. Ok, so I found a few threads where people were launching Dolphin from XBMC using the Wiimote as the remote from within XBMC or some other type of front end. So far they're in the same boat you are. Well me, too I guess, but my computer doesn't have enough go-go juice to run a lot of the games. I would post a thread on there, but a few posters are just down right jerks and I don't feel like being called a n00belsaurus-rex by some socially inept 15 year old. Tonight when I get home I'll see if the steps to connect can be done via keystrokes. If so couldn't a script or something be written to automatically do it? I'm not really sure what I'm taking about, either. Just throwing ideas out there.
  2. I picked up a Bluetooth dongle last night to mess around with Dolphin and my Wiimotes. I'm wondering if there's a way to use the "Pair Up Real Wiimotes" function automatically once Dolphin fires up. I'm going to scour the Dolphin forums and see if I can find something.
  3. There's an alpha driver for it HERE with instructions HERE. It only works for wired controllers at this point. Microsoft has pretty much said they have no plans to support the chatpad on the PC. You'll still be lacking mouse functionality if you need that. celly, that's pretty god-awful. I'll stick with my overpriced DiNovo for now. And yes, the one I posted it pretty bad, too, but it replaces 2 or 3 peripherals.
  4. http://www.missingremote.com/news/2011-03-05/veho-mimi-wireless-gamepad-keyboard Kinda neat I guess if you're using a HTPC for gaming/emulation. I'm not sure I'll trade in my DiNovo Mini and Xbox360 controller any time soon, but if the DiNovo dies this might be a viable option.
  5. I actually thought about just making a base that I could hook up to the HTPC similar to this. If I put it on wheels that I can lock down that would be ideal as I'm sure my wife wouldn't be too keen on a gigantic box with sticks and buttons and trackballs chilling out in the living room. @mesk I remember reading about your PC10 on here before I actually joined. That's a nice find right there. I would have done the same thing as you.
  6. ...I'm working off of the Golden Tee Showcase cabinet. I know these aren't particularly new, but it's the first time I've seen one up close. It looks pretty swank with a 42" LCD hanging up there for a monitor. I read on a site that it can handle up to a 50" screen. Now all I have to do is gather up about $2K and get this project started.
  7. No, Draco. I have everything dialed in exactly how I like it. I switched to a v1 theme just to check out the new stuff. I also wanted to see how much I could do before I noticed a performs hit so I recorded two HD channels, streamed a movie to the Wii because nearly everything has to be transcoded to flash video before it's sent, then fired up GameEx with the v1 theme and it was a small performance hit. Under regular usage everything works great with no problems.
  8. @Adultery I do have dual channel enabled. Honesty, the ony time it slows down, and I'm only talking a 3 to 5 second hiccup, is if I'm recording more than 1 show in HD, streaming a video that needs to be transcoded on the fly (like an .AVI to .FLV to the Wii), and running GameEx all at the same time. That's writing 2GB of data an hour to one hard drive, reading either off of that hard drive or another, transcoding what's being read and sending it over the network, running GameEx off of the primary drive, and reading rom metadata off the 3rd drive. That's a lot going on. While I do like the popup descriptions, it doesn't serve a purpose for our setup at this time. If I were to drop another 2GB of ram the system would run a lot smoother, but if I spend any more money on this thing I would just assume buy a new mobo, proc, and ram. It's very rare that I'm doing all of those things at once.
  9. You could use the create snaps option in GameEx, or fire up Dolphin (which I assume youre using) and create snaps from within the emulator. That's all dependent on how many roms you have and the time you want to invest. It's on my todo list, but pretty far down the line. I'm hoping Circo gets to it before I do. EmuMovies snaps are always far and away better than the ones I make anyway.
  10. I'm running GameEx on a media center right now. Phenom X3 @ 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, ATI 5450 1GB DDR3 RAM. The drive GameEx runs off of spins at 5400 RPM. I have all the eye candy cranked up to 11, video snaps, transitions, and all that jazz. If only GameEx is running the popup descriptions are not a problem in addition to everything else. If I'm recording something, or serving up media in another room that needs to be transcoded before it reaches it's destination than GameEx slows down a bit. Not quite bothersome, but it's noticeable. My rig is pretty middle of the road, and probably closer to the bottom of the middle as far as most MC users. That being said, the popup descriptions are awesome, but we haven't used them for 2 reasons. 1: We're using Draco's Brokeh theme which is not compatable at this time, and 2: Generally we have a good idea of what games we're going to play going in. If we do fire up a random game, with the video snaps we have a fairly decent idea of what the game is about. Ok, I lost my train of thought. Keep up the good work, Tom. This is the "show stopper" program I use to end the tour of my HTPC. It always leaves them in awe.
  11. I'm running on a HTPC. Having one box for everything entertainment is pretty fantastic. The integration into WMC is practically seamless and way more than anyone could ask for. I posted a video in the off topic section, but i need to update it as I've switched to Win7 and cleaned up the UI a bit.
  12. So, I fired BS Zelda up in ZSNES for the heck of it. It seemed to run smoother until I got about half way through the 1st dungeon. The screen came up that said you can still shoot your sword even though you don't have full power. I cannot remember exactly what it said. It was 3AM when I finally got to sit down and play. Anyway, I couldn't get out of that text box at all. Bummer too, because it was playing very well up to that point. Just wanted to confirm even though everyone already knew it wouldn't work.
  13. Ah. No worries. I've used SNES9X in the past as well. I'll take the 10 minutes to download and setup to play these.
  14. Oh man, this is fantastic. I usually use ZSNES, so I'll report if that works or not.
  15. Awesome. I have a feeling I'm not getting much accomplished around the house this weekend. I'm going to find that BS FF game too if it exists. And here I thought I played them all.
  16. Shark007 includes both Gabest and FFDShow. This is a good guide if your stumbling block is getting FLVs to play and want to keep your installations down to a bare minimum. Much appreciated.

    Emu Extras

    Amazing. Thank you.
  18. Well I'm glad my question spawned into a creative conversation that may lead to a new feature. One way or the other would be nice, consistency with the downloader, or easier to implement. As it stands I just copied the contents of my static snaps into my video snaps folder. I have them separated so if, in the future, we can add multiple paths I can go that route.
  19. You can use the EmuMovies downloader that comes with GameEx. It's one of the sub-folders Unregistered users can download 250MB per day. Just point the downloader to your rom folder and it will find the appropriate artwork.

    ZInC

I'm hoping by the time I get to installing and setting up zinc the emulation in MAME will be on par with it so I won't have to deal with it. Just reading these forums the past few weeks is enough to, almost, scare me off.
  21. If you're using it as a dedicated cab Instant Sheller is probably going to be your best bet. http://www.gameex.net/Community/InstantSheller/tabid/73/Default.aspx I have no experience with it, but I'm sure several people on here have used it, and can help with any issues that may come up.
  22. Balls. I'll have to combine the two I guess. Well, at least I can delete the extra snaps and gain some space on my hard drive. Thanks, starbuck.
  23. So, I'm sitting at work day dreaming about getting my rig setup optimally, please forgive me as I cannot remember the settings exactly. For MAME there are two separate entries for game snaps, one static and one video. For other emulators there is one, video/game snaps. Can I add both directories to the emulator snaps entry and GameEx will use the video if available, and static if not? Kind of like how you can add multiple Rom directories in the MAME setup? Example for my NES emulator the snaps directory would be setup like this: E:\Assets\Nintendo NES\VSnaps, E:\Assets\Nintendo NES\Snaps. My other option, which would definitely work, but I want to keep the two types separated if possible, would be to combine the two into one directory. Thanks in advance for your help, KK
  24. Very true, Adultrey. I was pretty stoaked when I heard my buddy mutter "holy crap, dude" when I fired up GameEx at his house. He was fairly impressed with the TV and movie stuff (I'm running GE through media center on my box), but GameEx completely blew him away.
