  1. Interesting topic the mame hi-score, mine just worked im using mameuI32 v0.141.0 and hi-scores work in all but a few games, pacman is one that doesn't..also draco1962 whats this clearmamepro? as i have a load of roms that use niomi ( i think ??? ) which isnt supported by mame, will clearmamepro get rid of those? SM
  2. Thanks and noted
  3. Thanks guys for all the comments and it seems the best way is to use the add/ remove programs ( draco1962) and slim it down that way. things im not sure off i`ll do a system restore point take it away let it run a while and see if its ok, have taken out things i know im deffo not gonna use and its working ok, ive download the pdf file from ranzo to have a gander threw and taken silver x advise as to nlite ( vsilvalops ) ive never used or even heard of it but thanks for the tip. . Ive also downloaded from our friendly net a file that details all the things XP loads and what they do so im also working threw that too....i`ll report back. To be honest though loading speed is not the issue cos once booted it stays on, there is no problem of the cab overheating as ive fitted a back panel fan to keep it cool and the pc thats internally fitted is all out of the case and surface mounted to the inside of the cabinet so there is plenty of air flowing around lol,im just slimming it down for emulation / gfx speed but at the moment its running at a desent speed, daytona usa and sega rally on the sega model 2 emulator runs smoothly as does crash bandicoot warped on the psx emulator, lol, the n64 runs really nice but im have daphine problems works great on win 7 but not on xp , but i`ll soon sort that, probably a config error in GameEx ( knowing me, rememeber the snap/snaps ! lol ). Have a few keyboard errors on the emulators again only with XP not win 7 the i-pac is configured so its not that, everything works perfect on the win7 pc i might just dump the whole lot onto the cabinet and let it re-config the gfx and sound lol. Oh the joys of building and configuring your own cabinet... it started out just as mame but is growing to take all the other emulators i can get, figuring out the gameex config for all the emulators is that hardest part, and as i work full time and have kids i have limited time i can spend tinkering with it, usually when everyone has gone to sleep. Regards to all, SM
  4. Hi guys, im not really sure if i should be asking this here but as i know your all cool at answering gammex relayated things i thought id give it a go... I have a cab running windows xp does anybody know if its possible or available a mixi xp version that will load only the bare essential to run gameex/ enulators and maybe music? im thinking that a standard windows xp installs loads, a load of crap that isnt needed even on a basic systems, basically my cab runs gameEx and im trying to get all the other emulators i use to run threw that, which are daphne, psx, nes, snes n64, mame, amiga, cbm64, sega model 2 and zinc, now i know model 2 and zinc are processor and gfx hungry but the others should run on a slimeline xp install ?? Im asking as i dont really know where i would start i guess ?? any help , advice, pointers even what i can and cannot delete would help, i wanna use my cab for playing music when not playing games but dont need internet, email etc... Many Thanks in advance. SM
  5. I agree ccs is the best c64 emulator about at the moment. Just download, install download some roms unpack to say desktop then on ccs64 click the load and run works perfectly. Grab it here. http://www.computer-magazine-scans.org/emulators/CCS64%20V3.7%20Install.zip Ian.
  6. I will be here a lot more now i know its got a good lot of support for gameex, btw i found my dragons lair rom and im in the process of installing daphne and the dragons lair stuff onto the cab, hope i can get gameex configured correctly this time lol.
  7. yes sort off but it would not have worked if you hadnt mentioned the vista / xp codec pack.
  8. [ RESOLVED ] LOL Its resolved it was a mistake i made in the config i had asked gameex to look at snap in stead of snaps ! and now with the codec pack installed by IANO its all working... you guys rock . Now im going to sort the 32x32 icons out. Ian.
  9. Problem Partly solved Sorted on the windows7 test machine, snaps still not working on cab I downloaded mameUI32.0.141 moved the roms to a different hard drive partition did a rescan and now all roms are working , BUT im still having the original snaps error with the cab, i have downloaded the vista codec pack as recommended by IANO but they still down work the PNG snaps are shown fine and the videos included with gameex run fine, which is odd, I don't really wont to copy all 39.4 gig onto the cab only to find the one i have on there doesn't work but i may do even it it means a clean wipe and install windows 7 as on the other computer. But for now im most great full to all the help you've all given me in trying to sort this problem out,( DRACO1962, ADULTERY & IANO ) its the 1st time ive ever used a forum and im impressed, i will definitely be keeping a daily watch here and hope that i can help some people as ive been helped. If you still have any ideas im glad to take them on board, I will have a little tinker with the cab and see if I can not screw it up too much lol, and will immediately report back with what happens. After that im going to try and get DAPHYNE running as i used to love Space ace and Dragons Lair as a kid spend £100s on that and im sure i have the dragon lair and space ace roms that i bought for my pc about 5 years ago somewhere !!, so no doubt i`ll be back on here looking for help on that lol!... there is so much i can do with Gameex im expecting some VERY late nights. With respect, Ian.
  10. great thanks for the help, much appreciated , here is the log from the one in using to test everything once i get it work on on this one i will port it over to the cab because at the moment the cab is running all the games but just wont show the video snaps which i can live with for now, but would like to get all the functions running perfectly on this system and if need be will install windows 7 on the cab, my big issue with this one is that running mame on its own all the roms show up and work but threw game ex about a 10nth dont show and its all the ones i wanna play like defender, robotron, donkey kong etc...
  11. hi, yep, i did that several times to make sure i even copied the roms to a different location and re-scanned but still no good
  12. hi, yes i have the correct codes installed as the ones that came with gameex work fine, and updating the list took nearly 45 minutes but still no joy, if i run mame without using the gameex FE all roms work ok.
  13. Ive downloaded the video snaps from enumovies and copied them into the video folder in mame but they dont show up when gameex is scrolling threw the menu on my cab which is running windows xp but they work fine on my other pc running windows 7 any ideas. Also gameex has just downloaded an update no half my mame games dont work?? its the usual ones defender, donkey kong robotron etc... but ALL worked fine before the update. any help greatly appreciated.
