  1. I have all my PCs in the house on static IP addresses so I can port forward without issue(this one is 10.0.0.4 as an example). The router has GameEx set to port forward as well as uTorrent so I know that works. I turned off my Windows firewall completely and still nothing updates. I feel like I am missing something stupid(I work on computers for a living) but I'll be damned if I can find it. I also know that nothing works 100% when it comes to Micro$oft products. Could be one of these times.
  2. I ran the registration key again, rebooted, played AD&D Tarmin(Intellivision) and Punch-Out!! as well. I am posting from the emulation station so I'm online. Is there a GameEx setting I need to turn on or should it be automatic? I suppose my next step would be to try and uninstall/reinstall GameEx but I'd HATE to lose my settings. EDIT: I also removed all instances of GameEx from the Firewall exception list then added gameex.exe and gameextender.exe again with full permissions.
  3. Yes. I played Punch-Out!! and Mania Challenge a few games after signing up.
  4. Not to resurrect a dead topic but question regarding gamecards. Is the card updated immediately or is there an update lag? I have a registered version and I created the card an hour ago(as of this post). I played a few games in MAME but it still shows No Data. Anything I am missing?
  5. I actually had that problem on this update a few days ago. It kept going to the download screen then not download anything... it would time out and load into GameEx without installing anything then tell me there's an update again. I downloaded the executable directly from the website and manually updated. Worked fine first time.
  6. I admit I purchased this and didn't actually build it myself but when the person that built it wanted to sell it I jumped on it. NES PC: Intel Atom 1.3 GHz N330 dual-core ITX motherboard. 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM running in single channel mode (only 1 DIMM slot onboard). 80GB 2.5" SATA HDD running Windows XP (stripped down using nLite). GameEx Front End. Slimline DVD drive. All controlled by an XBOX 360 USB game pad. The only change I'll be making to it is upgrading the drive. Overall it looks great in my entertainment center. No one knows it's a PC at first. EDIT: Yeah at some point I will be putting one of these together myself. It's too much of a geek project for a PC repair guy like me to pass up trying. I get spare parts across my desk every day.
  7. Well there's Video, Title, Box, Cartridge and Manual. On most systems I am already using all 5 of these. Am I missing something? EDIT: Oh wait! I think I see it! On the Advanced Emulator Setup page I use the Custom Art Name and Path?
  8. I don't know if this has been brought up before but sometimes there's a need to be able to display more than one manual - example: ColecoVision game Fortune Builder has a manual AND a guide. There are a few Final Fantasy games that I have the map as well as manual. I have no idea how the code for GameEx is done but would it be an option to add a "Supplement" field or something similar? Not even sure if this would be an option that would be used by anyone else but me but just a thought I had.
  9. Soooo.... you finished my pinball machine I see? Bring it over!! That is fantastic. I would love to do something like this in the future once I am settled into a house. I have given it more than just a passing thought but I don't have room for a pinball table here as yet. One disappointment... I was hoping to see you show us Funhouse as you were hovering over it in the list(5:25). My favorite table.
  10. I'm going to check that out this weekend after my vacation. Thanks for the suggestion.
  11. (BTW I put the wrong keys in - it's 5678 not 4567 but still same results when fixed) No such luck. It still doesn't see the command. It also adds some funky text to that line in the setup program. See attached. I'm trying to avoid it but I might have to go with Joy2Key and map the buttons. I just hate running J2K... always seems to interfere with SOMETHING at SOME POINT and that bugs me. However since I'm running a PC in an NES case I can't have a keyboard attached. Just wouldn't look right. I'm weird I know. Just 2 points as an aside - * This community is great. Thank you for all the help I have gotten. Also your Space Invaders theme is like gold to me! * Every time I go into the GameEx settings I find something new I like. Yesterday I found that I can get away from the default logo for a system picture in the menu and show [Console], [Handheld] and [Logo] pictures. Much better seeing an actual pic of an Atari 2600 then just the Atari logo flash by. This program gets better and better for me every time I go looking. EDIT: Think I know what the problem is and I don't think I can fix it. Win7 controller setup shows it maps the four shoulder buttons as 5,6,7,8 but when I enter them in GameEx Setup it shows up as 4,5,6,7... I've manually entered them as 5,6,7,8 and 4,5,6,7 and neither work. Sounds like a communication problem with Win7. If anyone can think of something I might be missing let me know but I think J2K is my only solution.
  12. Well the funny thing is I have an XBox 360 wired controller. I downloaded the driver from Microsoft rather than letting it autodetect. It worked great also BUT it also wouldn't do a Global Exit... *shrug* OS is Windows 7 Home 64-bit btw.
  13. I'm trying to get my custom built NES-puter finalized now that my arcade is up. Got an issue I can't seem to fix: I am running 12.61. I am using a PS1 USB adapter with 2 gamepad ports and they work great in every emulator as Player 1 and 2. GameEx is configured to use pad 1 to go through the menus. Everything seems to work... ...except I can't get the Global Exit to work. I have repeatedly set it to Buttons 4|5|6|7 using the ... and pressing the controller buttons so they do program correctly. It should exit using all 4 shoulder buttons but I get no response at all. custominput.ini
  14. Oh my... I love your cabinet! Tron is a favorite and what you've done just looks awesome and inviting to me.
  15. I tried Shark007 and nothing changed. I still get video previews but GameEx won't actually play them. I'll just stick with launching VLC since that is working fine.
  16. Thanks. It runs perfectly. I have that and Gobliiins running through ScummVM directly. The rest run normally via the shortcuts. One last question that is kind of related... I have anime music videos I want to play via the GameEx Video option. Now they all play a preview but when I play them I only get the audio. I get a blank screen. I gave up and downloaded VLC media player and that works great. Just wondering what I may have missed. Possibly a CODEC pack someone could recommend? Aside from that I am 100% completed on my GameEx setup. I want to thank everyone for their help.
  17. The 7th Guest command line is actually a ScummVM line if I am reading the shortcut right: target="C:\Program Files\GOG.com\The 7th Guest\SCUMMVM\scummvm.ini" t7g <-- This loads a batch file. The batch file only consists of "@v !" which I assume are parameters for the v.exe file. Ooh! Just had a thought... Maybe I should just go through all the GOG games I have and run them directly through ScummVM. It would be annoying to set up but anyone else think that would be the best bet?
  18. My GameEx Arcade says "Hello Commander... computer reporting." on bootup. My laptop tells me "Goliath Online" when it's ready to go. Even my oldest PC is extremely polite to me.
  19. I hope you'll forgive me but I don't know exactly what to do with the coding above. I just ran through the Advanced setup and didn't see where I would set this. Do I add it to one of the config files manually? I put all the GOG shortcuts in C:\GOG to get ready. Got that much done. EDIT: Never mind. I got it. That is exactly what I needed thank you! EDIT #2: Do you have 7th Guest installed? Every time I try to run it I get the Trilobyte splash screen then it pops back to GameEx BUT it is still running in the background which is killing the mouse control. I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to close them both.
  20. I put it together myself in about an hour and a half. Of course that was for a whole cabinet which came in three boxes total. A cocktail table may take less time. It is very sturdy and fairly heavy once the Tankstick and monitor are installed in it. It is assembled with a combination of wooden dowels and hex screws. It has a nice glossy finish to it that looks very nice in the living room. There isn't anything on it that feels cheap. I have one alignment problem with the whole thing. The door is just slightly off. It sticks out on the hinge side maybe 1/8" if that but it is not flush. Hard to see but of course I see it every time. It's the way the door was predrilled. The magnets they use to hold the door and keyboard drawer closed are pretty strong. Not an issue with the door since it has a handle but the keyboard drawer is flush. I went to the store and bought a 12" black strap like you'd find on a backpack, doubled it up, added 2 plastic washers of different sizes and screwed that to the inside of the panel so I can open it without wrestling with it for 30 seconds and pinching my hand in the process. If you look at the last picture of the unit you can see the strap I added right in front of the power supply/keyboard. There's no actual back panel to the cabinet. This isn't so bad for most people but I have to have it up against the window AND directly under an overhead light. This causes light to always come in the back over the monitor. My solution was to take one of my old black, heavy curtains(matches very well actually) and hang it on a black bracelet-quality cord I mounted across the back using the top rear bolts to hold it in. From the front and sides you wouldn't even know it was there but blocks the light perfectly. I wasn't "dancing in the halls happy" with the shipping though. They put the cabinet parts in the box with bubble wrap around the edges but only those - not sure how to describe it - paper-thin cotton sheets(?) between the wood. I have at least 5 places showing nicks that I had to touch up with furniture marker. There's a few more but they are inside the cabinet and you cannot see them. They came UPS ground so there was plenty of time and bouncing opportunities during shipment. Now I have no basis of comparison as I wanted to use a real arcade machine but never got my hands on one. Arbitrarily rated I'd have to say 7.5/10 (including the nicks/shipping annoyances). It's a good cabinet but has enough minor flaws to be annoying to the builder. None of my friends even see the flaws though. I'll have to add it to my list. I used the rope light because I had it lying around the house from an old yard sale run a few years ago. I like it but I would LOVE it if they ran all the way around the monitor. I would also want them to move. These just are on. I'd like a set that I can change so it looks like it is rotating around the monitor.
  21. Fair warning - link and picture heavy. It's finally almost finished. There are a few changes I still want to make and I didn't exactly build it myself but I love it anyway. I really like the strand of rope light around the LCD. Great for flair and in the dark it just looks cool(to me anyway). The Envision LCD will be swapped for a widescreen LCD HDTV probably in the next month or two after my vacation. That way I can add my Playstation 3, Nintendo64 with Z64 and 3DO systems to the cabinet in the shelving below. 22. I didn't see anything in the FAQ and I tried searching the forums but didn't find anything - I apologize if it's been asked before. I want to use GameEx to run external programs. I've purchased quite a few GOG.com games and I'd love to put them in the emulation cabinet. I haven't seen a way to do this. Am I just missing it or can it even be done? Is this something that may be planned for a future release? 7th Guest still is awesome by the way.
