Thanks for that Draco1962, That is kinda getting on the right track of what I wish to accomplish. I can plug in MESS now directly under MAME, but can't seem to add my own items, which generates custom game lists like MAME has defaulted. (Atari, neo-geo, CPS, lightgun, etc.) More specifically, what I wish to accomplish is, once MESS is selected in GameEX I would like displayed the names of the XMLs taken from this page. http://git.redump.net/cgit.cgi/mess/tree/hash So If I selected MESS then aes it would show me a listing of those games just like what's already possible when you pick MAME and select neo-geo games. Even better would be if GameEX could read those XML files and already generate a listing of games in GameEX interface. If that isn't possible then I wouldn't even mind creating dat files of directories that GameEX could read to generate the lists. I can't figure out right now how it does it for MAME from the categories I have listed above and in other posts. I would really love too see this implemented in GameEX
-
The thing is though, it's not a separate emulator, so it's silly having to setup that way. A MESS selection directly under MAME would provide a clean and organized look. Giving the users the ability to create their own custom menu's (if possible) I would welcome and appreciate this very much and it could even be a registered feature only Even people using other emulators might find it fun and enjoy setting up custom game selections per system. Please Tom, if possible, please consider adding what I'm speaking of.
-
I suppose it's possible to do that but it would take eons and unecessary work. GameEX already has support for MAME because it has custom lists for Neo-Geo, Atari, CPS, lightgun & original games etc. (sub categories) If I can figure out how this works and is accomplished, I can create my own for MESS I'm hoping. I'm open to all ideas and suggestions.
-
If Tom could at least add support for cart systems to start off with, that would be really awesome. Actually now that I think more about it, this should be possible to implement because of the categories already possible with MAME. Already selectable when it comes to MAME is Neo-Geo, CPS, Atari, etc. Which I assume generates a listing of games for those systems by reading some XML or file they are listed in. So why couldn't the same be done with MESS systems, considering both projects share the same code? Is it possible for a user to set up their own sub categories that GameEX shows by changing some config and creating an XML? Or do these specifically have to be programmed/supported by Tom? If so, then I could just create my own MESS setup that I would like GameEX to show me in it's menu. Can someone please describe how this is accomplished and done if it's possible to do currently right now. When I use mess64 from command prompt all I have to do is type H:\MESS EMULATOR>mess64 snes -cart ctrigger And Chrono Trigger loads, so it shouldn't be all that complicated to add the support I just need to figure out how to make it possible.
-
I would like to add a near complete MESS setup to GameEX if possible. Is there a way currently to make this happen? Basically, once GameEX is launched, directly under MAME it would be nice to have a MESS selection. Then when MESS is selected it would show all the systems available, perhaps by reading the files in hash directory of MESS path. Or somehow the user would be able to control exactly which systems is displayed on this screen and set path to ROMs that GameEX can understand if reading paths in MESSUI.ini is not possible. Once a system is selected in GameEX then it would show all of the games say for example PCE pce_extra_software "H:\MESS EMULATOR\roms\pce" Is it possible to have a MESS setup like this in GameEX and is it supported as of right now or would it need to be programmed in?

Tutorial: Compile Mame Plus to remove Nag screens
B2K24 replied to chriss's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information

Be sure HD render is checked so it uses your GPU

See if this works and keep in mind Daemon is drive F in my windows. Command=SSF.EXE -NOGUI -CDROM F RomFilter=*.cue LaunchBefore=""C:\Program Files (x86)\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTLite.exe" -mount 0,"[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]"" LaunchAfter=cmd /c "C:\Program Files (x86)\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTLite.exe" -unmount 0

So I found a software called snapshot magician made by Tempest. I will assume GameEX uses this method from within the frontend for the create snaps function. I notice in this software is option that can be changed from using FRAPS to Irfan View. Is this change possible for GameEX create snaps function so it won't crash Visual Pinball? If so how might I execute it?
-
FRAPS is not compatible with visual pinball. If FRAPS is running when Visual Pinball is launched VP crashed and the stopped working window appears on screen.
-
I don't wish to download other sources, I would rather have GameEX create the snaps. There has to be a way to manually take the snap shot with a key press on keyboard the same way the create snaps option does so automatically. PLEASE TOM is this possible already? or can you add a manual capture snap feature controlled by user with a key press?
-
Has anyone managed to get the create snap option working correctly for visual Pinball? I always get the stop working windows message <APPCRASH> when trying this feature. Is it possible to hide this window in windows so the screenshots come out correctly? Otherwise gaming in GameEX and such works normally fine. Also I disabled the vpauto.exe and it didn't help for the create snaps operation. Is it possible to preform this create snap operation manually with a key press on keyboard? I like how convenient the .png matches the file name of game running at the time. A way to do this manually with user control would be GREAT!!!! Here is an example of my problem where 90% come out bad.
-
AWESOME!!!!!!! It works great with GameEX and VP9. You're a star Now I just need to figure out how to get a gamer tag sig that shows what I'm currently playing and I will be set. Thanks so much for your help.
-
The second tab does not let me use joystick imput I'm not sure why that is. I just wanna map 5 or 6 keyboard keys to my joypad for Visual pinball and I can't figure this out.
-
Please explain how to do this

I am wondering why in GameEX when browsing all the MAME roms, why are some games on the list capable of displaying a Flyer and a title, but this behavior is not consistent for every game highlighted on the list. Some games only display a marquee when I have a flyer and after I pick the game, I can view the flyer just fine, but it doesn't display when game is highlighted in a consistent manor. Is there any way or setting to make it always render a flyer or title, or flyer and snap when different games are highlighted scrolling in GameEX?
-
Yes I'm registered users and thank you for the reply Can you explain how I access this mapper and will it only take effect when launching VP from the GameEX menu? because that is what I'm interested in. *** after unzipping all the files in G:\Pinballs\Visual PinMAME (2008-08-24)\Tables I'm a bit overwhelmed. What is the best way to organize all the .jpg's and stuff so GameEX can make the most use of it? Thanks very much guys for your continued help and support. Very much appreciated sorry

Thanks rockyrocket, That fixed everything and tables work now Thank you so much for the fix. I love **** and have the same username over on that site Now to get all the Artwork sorted and possibly figuring out how to set keys to my joypad. Thanks guys so much for helping me get this fixed, I really appreciate it sorry

Thank you Adultery for posting. Could you please post your .ini because I have everything you mention except I think, but it doesn't work. Maybe you can spot problem in mine? GameEX will launch table and put my in the VP GUI, but always says loading error which allows me to click OK with mouse and then in the VP GUI I can manually open and load a table just fine Also, do you happen to know a way to make the keys for VP to a joypad? Thanks guys for the replys. I have latest VP9 with latest pinmame working manually and was wondering if GameEX can launch everything while all the files stay zipped. I am a registered user btw. Will do some testing now. OK FP works but cannot get VP or pinmame to launch tables correctly. I select a table in GameEX interface and it puts me back to the GameEX menu after choosing a table. However, running VPinball909.exe manually and opening a table then clicking play makes pinmame correctly

I could use some advice getting VP and tables working with GameEX. Would some kind soul please chime in and help me get started please

Tutorial: Compile Mame Plus to remove Nag screens
B2K24 replied to chriss's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
compiling your own MAMEUI can have many benefits, such as always staying updated with latest u builds and having the nag screen removed is very nice! This guide is for windows 7 users, but should work on older versions as well. I STRONGLY suggest not using C:\ drive and using a different drive, because windows 7 is VERY picky about activities on C:\ and even with UAC disabled directories have lock icon and compile was unsuccessful. In this guide I will use G:\ DOWNLOAD REQUIREMENTS mingw-mame-w64-20100102.exe <<<< ONLY IF YOU HAVE 64 BIT O/S X64 http://mamedev.org/downloader.php?file=too...64-20100102.exe mingw-mame-w32-20100102.exe <<<< IF YOU'RE 32 BIT O/S X86 THIS ONE http://mamedev.org/downloader.php?file=too...32-20100102.exe latest MAME source code, in this case it's MAME0141s.exe http://mamedev.org/downloader.php?file=rel...s/mame0141s.exe download latest MAMEUI source code http://www.mameui.info/ hiscore diff (with no nag/white box removal) http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=64298.0 1. Create 2 directories (New Folders) on root of G:\ name them mingw and mamesrc 2. Extract mingw-mame-w64-20100102.exe OR mingw-mame-w32-20100102.exe to mingw directory 3. Extract MAME source code.exe (in this case it's mame0141s.exe) to mamesrc directory 4 Make sure all diff files are in mamesrc directory 5. Extract MameUIs.exe to G:\mamesrc\src\osd 6. Copy file MameUI.mak in G:\mamesrc\src\osd\MameUIs paste to location G:\mamesrc 7. Copy directory winui located at G:\mamesrc\src\osd\MameUIs copy to location G:\mamesrc\src\osd 8. Rename hi_141u1.txt to hi_141u1.diff then place in G:\mamesrc 9. We will need to create 1 .bat file name it WhateverYouWant.bat contents of WhateverYouWant.bat set path=G:\mingw\mingw64-w64\bin patch -p0 -E < 0141u1.diff patch -p0 -E < hi_141u1.diff make -f mameui.mak (this operation can take 10 or MORE minutes depending how fast your PC is. Once completed you shiny new MAMEUI will be in mamesrc directory. Congrats you are all finished, easy eh -
Tutorial: Compile Mame Plus to remove Nag screens
B2K24 replied to chriss's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
OK just an update here This guide works for 0140 mamepui64.exe Can someone please chime in and describe how to remove the nag screen from mamepgui.exe please? This information would be very helpful too me. When I compile with make all command it does not produce a mamepgui.exe I only can create mamepui64.exe and mamep64.exe Any help or information will be very much appreciated Thank You. [EDIT] It appears if I don't use any existing .ini's from before and re-config everything from scratch the no nag is removed from both mamepgui.exe and mamepui64.exe The key is after compile when mamepgui.exe is opened you select the mamep64.exe and result is success More testing to come.
