I checked and Gamex was already an exception in my windows firewall. I turned it off also. I can remote into my machine with gamextender viewer and it works fine. It just doesnt seem to want to publish to the server. (turned viewer off as per the admin not above)

Is there something I can check in the log file that will point me to whats wrong?
  3. That doesn't look too bad. As Draco mentioned be sure and keep the heat in mind. Heat will do you in quickly. Good luck and it sounds like you are doing right in your research. If you built an arcade I bet you wont have any problems building your own PC. There are a ton of tutorials on the internet. It's really not that hard. Everything now is pretty modular and plug and play. Unless you press real hard it wont wont go in wrong

Tried turning off the Game Ex viewer. Is that what I need to do. I still have publish to server set to yes. Viewer start and exit to no. I still dont see my images posted. Not really a big deal but I thought the idea was pretty cool. What would really be cool if you add an option for the folks posting their screens to add a pic of their cabinet beside it.
  5. One thing about those fancy media center PC's that I have seen throughout the years. They do not last very long after the one year warranty. A neighbor brought me one the other day - a souped up AMD quad core, 8 gigs Bluray etc etc....it had to cost them about 1500 from Best Buy. It was 14 months old and the MB was out. Best Buy wanted to charge them $600 to repair. My thinking is that heat ends up getting them in the end. AMD runs hot to begin with. I stay away from AMD's - personal preference......
  6. I would build your own. I got an intel MB, 2 gigs of ram, and a Dual Core Processor 5200 I think from Amazon for around 200. I went with the green variety hoping that it would emit less heat. I work on PC's on the side and had an old HP case that I used that seemed to fit perfectly where the coin mechanism was. Here is a pic of mine. I still have a lot of tweaking to do (trim, cover holes etc...). I bought a used cab from a local arcade dealer for 50 rather than spend time building one. Painted the melamine sides (scuff it up, use oil based primer and cabinet paint). All together I have about 500 into this plus time. Another thing I read about and used was a smart power strip. You plug in one device to one of the outlets and when it detects power off it powers down all the other devices. It actually worked too. Now when I turn off the PC the monitor and stereo go off too. I would overbuild/overbuy your PC. They are super cheap now and more power is better than not enough. My Arcade

I recently set up Game Extender. I am able to http from another browser and see my desktop fine. I have setup the port forwarding etc....For some reason my image does not show up as a desktop in the game live section. How often does it publish to the server? What could I check to see if something is not working with the publish process. I figured the hard part would be getting the http portion working and it works great.
  8. Thanks. I think I figured it out. For some reason the run line in the emulator config did not include "Rompath\Rom" I added that and wala. THey work fine. Thanks for helping.
  9. Tried that. The error doesnt pop up but it just returns to Gamex. 10. Ive been playing with this for a number of hours. Loaded the config via adv config. When I try to play a table I get an error unable to load table and it sets at the editor screen of Vpinball. All tables play fine outside of Gameex. It seems to load Vpinball becuase it is at the editor screen. Is tehre something the way the table is named that is causing it to error out? Here is that portion of the log. Any advise is appreciated. 08:01:06.2 21/04/2010: Restoring Emulator Database From Cache 08:01:06.3 21/04/2010: Restoring Emulator from Cache 08:01:06.3 21/04/2010: Restoring Emulator Database From Cache 08:01:09.2 21/04/2010: Running: cmd.exe /c C: vpinball_903.exe -play -"Addams Family, The TV version (Bob5453) (2009) (1.0) [VP8].vpt" 08:01:09.4 21/04/2010: Also Launching: "C:\Program Files\GameEx\vpauto.exe" 08:01:23.7 21/04/2010: Writing Stats 08:01:23.7 21/04/2010: Plugin: Game Exit 08:01:23.7 21/04/2010: Plugin: Process Commands 08:01:23.7 21/04/2010: Refreshing Keyboard 08:01:23.8 21/04/2010: Initialising Audio 08:01:23.9 21/04/2010: Relaunching HideOS 08:01:24.1 21/04/2010: Restoring Window 08:01:24.1 21/04/2010: Reinitializing Graphics System 08:01:24.7 21/04/2010: Reloading Game Info Page 08:01:24.7 21/04/2010: Returning to GameEx 08:01:27.7 21/04/2010: Exiting GameEx! 08:01:27.7 21/04/2010: Saving Settings 08:01:36.1 21/04/2010: Disposing Plugins 08:01:36.1 21/04/2010: Closing database connection 08:01:36.2 21/04/2010: Checking for applications to Launch On Exit
  11. Is there a program that I can use to bulk delete roms that Mameui identifies as being bad? I can see them in the list of non working roms but no way to delete them. I keep running into roms that wont play and just as well get them off my menu. Any suggestions? TIA
  12. Thanks I will try it. WMP really sucks at managing large collections. Not a knock on GameEx. Basically it just offers list mode looks like explorer and not real arcade looking...IMO of course
  13. Was curious. I am new to GameEx so I am in the exploring stage. I selected WMP as my player but it really sucks. I have a ton of music (1000's) and the interface is basically useless. I was interested to know if there are better options. Ideally I think it would be really cool if the jukebox looked like a jukebox with song selections etc. I understand I couldn't have 1000's of selections - I would populate with certain songs. Are any of you using something besides WMP? I just finished my arcade cabinet and WMP immediately destroys the look and feel.
