  1. Hi, so i have just shelled a cab that is now running win 7 64 bit. All is well i have hidden everything, got rid of all branding and loading text ect, but have noticed as have many people i see that the old trick of starting explorer.exe on exit of gameex does not have the same effect. In my cab (that runs xp)the full windows gui loads and i also load mousefighter that replaces my invisable cursor with its own and then can be controlled via the joystick. In 7 only the file browser window opens and i know its no bother to open taskmng and start explorer as a new process but this cab is for someone not so savvy as to want to do this. So i am really just thinking out load here but is it possible to create a script that would do this and in turn be launched at exit of gameex?. I am thinking it would need to do something like open a cmd window then taskmanager and then new process- explorer.exe but with the correct syntax is this correct?. Also whilst i am rambling, now that more is known about shelling win 7 and more things can now be hid or changed ( i can find some links tomorrow)since the last update of instantsheller can i ask if any plans are afoot to update it tom?. Thanks paul
  2. Hi, So i know a lot of you visit byoac and will of seen this but for those of you who have not check this out... http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=110148.0 Its one hell of an entertaining read, and i am just hoping to save anyone here thinking of placing an order from a loss. It seems that after many years trading ram may be still taking new orders and not fulfilling the old ones. This is a real shame as i was going to buy a sw yoke this year, lets hope one pops up on ebay!.
  3. Can i suggest if you are ripping your cab apart that you add a sliding mobo tray!. I did this and its such an improvment.
  4. As an update the launcher i mentioned earlier is on this page.. http://urbaninteractive.wordpress.com/2009/05/ I have this set as an emulator in gameex and seems to work best in xp! Enjoy.
  5. Did someone say starwars? Have you seen the return of the jedi project that urbaninteractive is working on?... Also check out his 3d starstrike available here.. http://www.urbaninteractive.net/ Aswell as the project blog on this site if you go back through the pages he has made a damn good starwars cab. Also buried deep in the blog is the custom front end he made to launch sw, empire strikes back and eventually rotj i have this on my cab just for kicks, enjoy.
  6. Yep I am a big fan of slamt1lts tables, the man is abit of a character though!. Any way chect out his relaunced youtube channel to see some more of his work some available some not... http://www.youtube.com/user/VirtuaPinball

  8. Hi, have a look at this... http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=9152 it may help with the dmd problem.
  9. I like to use RDP when on my lan, but am a big fan of teamviewer when away from home or helping others with problems remotely its just so easy to use.
  10. Hi, Future pinball can use two screens native without the use of the hyperpin frontend. You need to create a shortcut then edit the command to have an" /arcaderender" switch at the end then launch it. Then when you open the future pinball editor an option to turn on arcade render will be available, and you can then choose to use a second monitor as a backbox. Both screens will then need to be resizeed by hitting scroll lock. I have used arcaderender in my mame cab to have a pincab like view from above but found tables looked too small on my 20 inch 4:3 monitor but its a fun experiment anyway. I do also have a pincab and have had to move the score animation that sits at the side of the screen on some tables (they are all different) but then sits on the playfield when in arcaderender mode. This is done again in fp editor you need to select the backbox view find the object to be moved (may need to find what layer its on) right click unlock it and then drag off backbox above line. As each table is different i dont know if you are able to reverse this i have never tried, may have a look. Please have a google as this is all done from memory so may be a bit inacurate
  11. Hi, so as the title says vp9.1.2 is out and for my systems was a big increase in performance from both 9.09 and 9.11. For all you guys with varying graphic card needs it has more video options than before and hd render mode is now not either on or off for all tables globally. Any way its to be found here.. http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?automodule=downloads&cmd=viewcat&cat_id=5
  12. Hi, have a look on ****** as someone has just posted two ****** that only contain the latest version of vp9 and fp tables. Both are about 6gigs each!.
  13. Have you had a try with hd render turned off? Does it complain about being unable to create offscreen z surface?. Also vp9.12 is now out and has some other options built into the editor that gave me a notable performance increase in both my mame cab and also my hyperpin cab. Have try with the new exe and play with the settings. Hope you can sort it out.
  14. Hi, if you go into advanced config, then enable - disable features and change disable escape key to YES then one press will exit the emulator but two presses will do nothing.
  15. Hi, i also had focus problems as mentioned in this thread http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=8487&st=0&p=62241&hl=+future%20+pinball&fromsearch=1entry62241 But i am happy to say this went away with the latest future pinball release ( ver 1.9.1.20101231). I made no changes to my set up other than updating the expired exe, maybe using something like revo uninstaller to strip out fp then reinstalling may help?. Sorry i had no magic cure for you.
  16. Yep they work fine for me! Some are slower to load than others though.
  17. So as the title says just check out what slamt1lt can do! http://www.youtube.com/user/RUSSELLSPEAK#p/u/13/zJCaKL7ykMk A tool is also available over at gopinball that aloew some customisation of the gameroom, enjoy.
  18. Yeah it (the loader) seems to need everything in one spot the tables folder in my case to work. If you have vp set up the traditional gameex way ie a different path for roms(tables)thenn one for the working directory ect it fails, no matter how you change the paths in advance config. So to sum up have all vp in the same directory and point adv config to the tables folder for both rom path and working path.
  19. Hi, I also had a hell of a time with tempests loader. Following the directions worked first time in win7 64bit, but no matter what i tried to emulate those succesfull steps on a xp 32bit box it just would not work. However in desperation i put a copy of my VPinball.exe (needs that exact spelling) and the loader and its png image then the supplied i_view32.exe and its ini file into my tables folder. Then for some reason it then works! before the loader would display the image then hang trying to find the vp executable. Hope this helps anyone else baffled by this. Also heres a nice image if you fancy swapping out the included one for anouther more colourfull one http://www.ipdb.org/images/4446/image-17.jpg Oh and thanks for the loader tempest.
  20. No probs, there is also an app that was created to aid pinball cabinet makers using two or three screens, who want to set the dmd position to the same spot (usually on a small third monitor)on all their tables at once. Anyway i have not tested this myself but here is a link.. http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9580 Hope it is ok to link to that other site.
  21. Hi, What i am thinking is a standalone player that will play a loading screen then shut down out of the way. Just been talking this over with someone more knowledgable than myself who suggests a giff launched from a script, or vlc can apparantly be run from the commandline then would just need the right switches. He seems to think a colleague could throw together something and package it as an EXE but we will see. Anyway i resolve to learn Autohotkey this year!.
  22. Hi, This may already be possible, but is there a way to play a now loading or an intro avi or such at specific times? What i mean is for example as visual pinball loads playing a 5 second clip then going back to the emu. The also launch option from advanced config may be the way to go but it would have to grab focus and then shutdown to return to the loading game. So anyone know how to launch an avi and then get the player to close down? I suppose this should be possilbe with ahk Shouldn't it? Also is it possible to play an intro vid for each emulator or just the main start up movie?. Thanks.
  23. Hi, This is prolly a bit late on this but heres a quick cut and paste from the setup section from vpforums, worked for me. â?¢ VPM score display (DMD) is hidden behind playfield If in VPM tables the VPM display is hidden behind the table, do the following: - right-click each VP application in your VP folder and access 'Preferences' - from there click Compatibility, check 'Compatibility Mode' and choose 'Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5)' - confirm and exit This setting is especially recommended when you use a front end (VP-Man or else).
  24. Hi my ini is the same and works except.. Command=VPinball909.exe -play -"[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" instead of Command=VPinball909.exe -play -"[ROMFILE]" Hope this sorts it for you. Ps save yourself some time and get all the roms and tables in one go from ***, and use the pleasure extractor to um well extract your tables!
  25. You should be able to do this with your keyboard encoder. Or try something like keytweak (google it) that has a simple gui
