Who here doesn't use a cabinet? I don't. I feel kind of left out actually, because I get the impression that most people involved with front-ends use them for their cabs... I use my GameEx setup on my PC... (I've got PC controllers hooked up to it) and I was wondering if anybody else does it that way. I have no space in my little one bedroom apartment for a cabinet, plus I wouldn't know where to start with making one... plus there's money involved that I just don't have! I love emulation and I love frontends though... so am I the only one here not using a sweet, custom-made MAME cabinet? (What's more is I think I prefer the PC controllers I have setup as opposed to using arcade control sticks for everything. THe only thing I WISH I had was a lightgun.)

It's only one zone, with 3 acts, but man this is a quality fan game. I can't wait for more to be finished on it, I'm really looking forward to the finished product!

The Youtube feature is fantastic, and so unexpected! I'm also gonna thank you again for the fixes to the Zinc and Model2 command lines, saving me a huge headache. This is a great update! Thank you Tom!
-
Tom it's perfect, every single game is now configurable in Zinc, even within GameEx! I'm so glad all that work paid off. Thank you so much! I can finally put Zinc behind me and move on.

Actually Noddy, that helped quite a bit. That frontend's version of controller.cfg actually does allow more games to work. Not all of them, but a few more than what I had, thanks to it's setup! So now I have a few more games working in GameEx than I did... even though it doesn't give me complete control over the Zinc romset... it's better than what I had... so thanks!

I can confirm it is definitly not. If it could, that would solve my problem with the greatest of ease! (At least, I'm hoping it could.)

Thanks for the reply Tom, but I'm sorry I can't get anything like that to work. Maybe my placement of quotes is screwed up or something, or maybe it's just not allowed... I have no idea. I've tried the following... --use-controller-cfg-file=O:\Emulators\Zinc\pcfg\[ROM]cp.cfg (No quotes) --use-controller-cfg-file=O:\Emulators\Zinc\pcfg\"[ROM]"cp.cfg (Quotes around just ROM) --use-controller-cfg-file="O:\Emulators\Zinc\pcfg\[ROM]cp.cfg" (Quotes around whole path) None of them work. Runitgame.bat gives me the following error each time... ERROR: renderer config file [O:\Emulators\Zinc\pcfg\[ROM]cp.cfg] not found (or something along those lines with various quoteation marks) Interesting... the RENDERER can't be found? I'm not looking for that, I'm looking for the controller.cfg file... darn it's just one thing after another with this. The renderer is not the problem here... the command line locates renderer.cfg just fine everytime. One more thing, if I point to an actual cfg file, like defaultZN1cp.cfg... it loads the games perfectly... it's just... THAT config file only works with certain games, so that's not what I want. There's GOTTA be a way... there's just GOTTA!

I've spent way too much time on this, so I'm just about giving up, asking here is my final option so I hope somebody has something that can point me in the right direction, cuz I'm lost! I'm using ZinC's integrated features in GameEx, which I like very much and I don't want to have to set Zinc up as a seperate emulator. Every Zinc game can use it's own controller.cfg file which allows you to customize the controls. (Otherwise there really is no universal control scheme that works in Zinc, at least one that I can see.) ZincGUI.exe is a frontend that allows you to create these controller.cfg files, it puts them in a folder called "pcfg" and names them [Rom]cp.cfg (E.G. rvschoolcp.cfg) My problem is I can't use these files in GameEx. Period. I can only use one controller.cfg file for every game in the Zinc list, and that makes SOME of the zinc games impossible to play. You can only specify controller.cfg file using the --use-controller-cfg-file=<value> parameter... so if I could use something like --use-controller-cfg-file=[Rom]cp.cfg or something like that... I'd be in business, but that doesn't work. Is there ANYTHING I can do? I spent alot of time setting up each controller config hoping I could get each Zinc game to be playable in GameEx, but the way it is now, I'm using a setup thats good for only a few games, while the rest are either screwed up or do nothing. PLEASE help me, I see alot of people asking for help about Zinc, but never about the controls, so it must be something I'M missing!

I've actually had similar problems like this using the delete key method. I've found that by not removing too many games at once, you can keep the program behaving itself. Remove a game, exit the menu, exit gameex if you have to, restart it up... and everything should be fine. If you remove 3 or 4, glitches and problems start happening for sure.

I actually kind of like the summeriazed GameEx history, while the rest of it is availible via CPWizard. It does, however, seem that there is a lot of information that GameEx doesn't use at all... like cheats, history, tips/tricks and who knows what else. Leaving that stuff in CPWizard's menu isn't a bad idea but maybe Tom can think of something to do to make this information more accessable from the start.

I updated the list, but nothing changed. The file still only contained about 20 or so games, when I've got ALOT more than that, it should list the whole thing. I tried deleting the file and updating the list again, it stops in the same spot. I'm trying to use this database for my NeoGeo console list, it worked before... why won't it work now, I don't get it. The MAME game list updates just fine, with database entries in tact. Isn't that strange? EDIT: I solved this issue by copying the database file from an old version of GameEx I had on a laptop, renaming it, and using it for NeoGeo. Unorthadox, but I got what I wanted... so problem solved kinda.
-
Oh I see... so something must have went wrong when updating the list... no wonder... I did not know that. OK Thanks I'll update the list again and see if that fixes my problem.
-
For some reason this database file, which I use for my WinKawaks setup, got messed up and I can't find it anywhere. It's not in the Themes-Databases.7z pack, and I tried reinstalling gameEx... I have no idea why, but it only contains a few games in it then it ends. Can somebody upload it? Does anybody know why it would suddenly be missing?

(Off Topic Kinda) 3 sided cocktail table W.I.P

No kidding man, that is really cool looking! -
Another excellent addition, GameEx just keeps getting better and better! I'm sure alot of people are going to find this feature useful for their cabs. Tom, you are the man.

I Love it! I'd say keep it as QWERTY too... it's easy. Thanks for the update Tom, as always!

Ah thank you for that. It's just one button to exit Daphne now, but no big deal... at least I can exit using the joystick. I didn't notice that earlier. As for the titles... I figured out what to do, I just copied the actual title screens into the cached thumbnails folder and renamed em. Sort of unorthadox but it worked. So I'm done nitpicking. thanks a bunch.

finally got around to adding what few Daphne games I have to my GameEx setup and they run just fine, but I have a few nitpicks I need to ask about. First of all, I use the Joystick exit option on every emulator I've got. This is usually found in "Advanced Config" and then "Joypad exit". However Daphne doesn't have an advanced config. No matter, Mame doesn't either and I got it to exit mame using the same combination... wait, how did I do that again? I don't remember... well, whatever, the fact is when I try to use the gamepad exit combination I have setup for everything else, GameEx freezes, BAD. I might return to GameEx, but I'll have no control over it what-so-ever and will be forced to Ctrl+alt+del. The only way to exit a Daphne game is with the legitimate ESC button on the keyboard... how can I use my joypad exit feature? And another thing... I have Daphne title screens and avi movies set up just like every other emulator. I would love it if the title screens were used as the thumbnails on my list, like every other emulator, but instead I get these screens that must have been taken out of the avi. No matter what I do, I can't get GameEx to use the title screen as the thumbnail.. what's going on? It knows the title screen is there all the paths are correct... filenames are correct... like I said in the topic, it's just nitpicking

I had those sets too, with the working motors! Though I think I had a cheap knock-off called "Steel Force" or something. I remember the sets used allen wrenches.
-
Now the topic title and my original post have nothing to do with each other, and I find it hilarious! I'm glad things turned out like that. It looks like I'm a little insane.

User Submitted Themes & Media (Uploads)

That's looking very nice Draco, I like it! -
Wipeout was the game I was trying to get to work too. I'm going to try my hand at dumping games myself, I've never done it before. I don't have any .ccd files, just .cue and .bin. I'm going to try mounting the .cue files which seems to solve the problem! Just need to figure out a working command line for GameEx.
-
Alright, my bad. I'll take any questions to the general forum, I just wasn't sure because sometimes I have a question that has nothing to do with GameEx in particular.
-
I got it. I'll bring any emulator questions here in the general forum. In any case, I still can't get the cd audio to work. I tried using a program that converts them to .bin files which is what was suggested, but it still doesn't work. I tried using an audio program to convert them to .wavs and that doesn't work... there's GOT to be a way to get this emulator to recognize these tracks.
