  1. Hey Guys, With Tom's new UltraDMD/XDMD installer I noticed that now the XDMX files are located within the UltraDMD folder that is created. Can I safely delete the XDMD folder that seems to have the same files? The new UltraDMD folder was created in my C: directory while the old XDMD folder is in my C:VisualPinball folder. Seems to be a duplication of files after the new installer was used, probably because I previously installed XDMD in my Visual Pinball folder while I let Tom's new installer create it's folder in the C drive dirctory.
  2. I've got a new issue with my 4.44 version that I am using I am seeing the following. When advancing the wheel the tables and backglass videos advance correctly. However, the table description does not advance all the time. It will hang up on a table and that description will remain every time I press the right flipper. If I press the left flipper the description will show correctly on the next table to the left and subsequent tables. It will then work correctly with the right flipper for about four tables and then start hanging up again. Always a left flipper press gets it working for a few more tables. I downloaded 4.44 again and reinstalled hoping that would correct the issue, no such luck. log.txt
  3. For my own education, what does "selecting a ROM" in game manager do for PinballX? I've never used that feature but I see you guys are using it when you post screen shots of Game Manager.
  4. I wish magnasave buttons jumped wheel to next letter in alphabet. A,B,C,D,E..... Holding flipper button for scroll is a guessing game ! Edit: Thanks Mike_da_Spike. I didn't realize that magnasave would page up and down a letter (as i run to the cab to give it a try)! I set up PinVol today so I was switching some graphics settings around in PinballX and going from fullscreen to windowed. Also had to switch some button assignments so PinVol didn't conflict with anything when a shifted button is pressed.
  5. Please add SEGA and Data East to game list! I created a custom list which is working fine but it sure would be great if SEGA/Data East was preinstalled like STERN, Williams and Bally are. Thanks for all you guys do!
  6. Please add SEGA to manufacturer's listing in front end! I added SEGA as a custom list but it now shows SEGA as a separate system in Game Manager. Everything is working fine as I set it up but it sure would be easier if SEGA was already a list as STERN and Williams etc. are.
  7. Thanks for the database manager program you guys created. I'll give it a go. Lane
  8. I just removed Iron Maiden and reinstalled in Tables folder with new name, b2s new name and all PinballX Iron Maiden assets reloaded with new name after initially removing all traces of it from Game Manager . It seems to be loading correctly now in PinballX. Maybe it will keep behaving. Sure is a great table.
  9. There you go. Looking at this file it says last selected "Laser War" even though it was Iron Maiden. I ran another ini with Laser War launched and it launched successfully and ini said "last launched Laser War". So it looks like PinballX thinks both Iron maiden and Laser War are being launched whenever either is selected on the wheel. Game Manager shows Iron Maiden as pointing to "iron maiden.vpx". There must be something under the hood at PinballX that really tags the ROM and pairs it with the wheel selection. Both of these games use the same ROM. One file is from first launch with Laser War and next is from second launch with Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden resulted in a PinballX crash. PinballX.ini PinballX.ini
  10. Will you guys please try loading https://vpinball.com/VPBdownloads/iron-maiden-virtual-time-v1-0-1-2020/ and see if it works OK in your PinballX front end. When I select it I get a crash. It shows loading and all the front end media is working (PinballX recorder table.B2S.DMD and topper). After about thirty seconds I just get three black screens. If I hit ALT TAB I can see three black PinballX labeled screens with no VPX table or VPX editor showing as active. Task Manager does not show VPX as open. The PinballX log shows it is trying to load Iron Maiden and then nothing after that. I tried renaming the table, deleting and reloading in PinballX, deleting the registry file, removing Laser War (the other table that uses same ROM) and other techniques to no avail. I timed the loading of Iron Maiden Virtual Time outside of PinballX and it takes 26 seconds. As a comparison ACDC takes 21 seconds. I was thinking maybe PinballX is timing out and running into a dead end while trying to load. PinballX Recorder worked fine when recording media videos of table so I know PinballX recognizes the required file. It's a little "different" table in that it used Laser War Rom and highly modifies the callouts and scoring of the ROM. Great table by the way! I appreciate if you guys could see if your version of PinballX loads the table. I have 4.13. As an aside PinballX is working great since I disabled Windows Update and got rid of that pesky update that was tormenting me a couple of weeks ago. Lane log.txt
  11. I installed the player select plugin last night and it is working great! Took dumb me a few minutes to figure out which github file I needed. Once I had the right file is was easy cheesy. I think this will make me more likely to suggest FX3 tables when friends come over. I never liked breaking out the keyboard to manipulate the FX3 menu. It effectively "broke the illusion"!
  12. I turned the updater back on and let it install the updates. I removed them one by one with the uninstaller, testing after each uninstall. It is Update for Microsoft Windows KB4486153 that is causing the problems. As soon it is removed everything reverts to normal operations. Along with the DOF plugin issue it seems to cause PinballX to give a black screen while loading table. Not the entire time of loading but it is delaying the loading video and loading GIF a few seconds. You think PinballX is going to crash and then the loading video starts playing. Not the normal smooth transition. Sorry this analysis took a few days. Most of my previous posts were from the Beach and not near the cabinet. I worked on the cabinet until early early Saturday morning and then we headed to the beach for the weekend. Stayed up until 1 this morning getting the info to help you guys diagnose. I'm good now that I know where the problem is. In the above picture it looks like the computer that the image came off of has not downloaded update KB4486153. So maybe Microsoft meters the updates like Apple does. That could explain why not everyone is being affected as of today.
  13. Windows 10 update issue Issue explained in above topic
  14. Facebook forums this morning reporting Windows update 1909 is causing PinballX to behave erratically. Caution everyone!
  15. Yes......I just added a topic. After three days of troubleshooting I can positively reproduce Windows recent update/updates causing operational issues with PinballX. I worry new users in future will not be able to get PinballX functioning cleanly. Please see Windows update topic I posted for complete description.
  16. Good morning I want to bring the communities attention to an issue that may pop up. Some of you are aware my PinballX quit cooperating with DOFLinx/DOF this week. I’ve spent an ungodly amount of time getting it working again. Here is what I have discovered. Let me preface the description by admitting I should have had Windows update turned OFF! The symptoms are no feedback devices working in PinballX but they do work perfectly when tables launched outside of PinballX or when launched with another front end. Positive confirmation is the PinballX log stating “Swiss Lizard DOFLinx plugin failed to initialize - plugin stopped” I tried many repairs up to moving PinballX off the computer and performing a new install. I grabbed fresh plug in dlls. I tried running earlier versions of PinballX etc..... If I restored my hard drive to a January 9 restore point everything works great. I discovered 5 Windows updates between January 9 and present day. 2 are systems updates and 3 are security updates. I let Windows reinstall the updates and PinballX had the previous issue. I did a manual uninstall of the five updates and PinballX reverted to working great. My concern is that this issue will affect others. Especially users who install PinballX going forward and get frustrated without knowing why. I suppose everyone on the forum is smarter than myself and already turned off updates but new users may come along with new computers that have the update and are prone to same error. I wish I could tell you guys which of the five updates is the culprit but now that it is working and updates are turned off I hate to open the can of worms. I checked for blocked files and could find no obvious ones but somehow one of those updates is screwing things up with the plug in for DOFLinx/DOF. The plugin tester will still find DOFLinx framework and say everything is OK.
  17. Man, looking at his log I see his PinballX DOF plugin is "not initializing" just like mine was doing the last two days. Lane
  18. Whew! After a solid day of work I have it all working. After discovering that as late as January 9th Pinball X was using DOF, I just restored my computer from the January 9th restore point. I had made a restore point and a hard drive backup on January 9th. Lucky for me! After the restore PinballX is using DOF and addressable light strips as it should. Tables are opening with DOF and addressable lights perfectly. This all began with the "project of the week" which was installing speaker lights which were my first RGB's in the cab. I think when I installed the Teensy software I must of screwed something up with PinballX or created a conflict. Once I restored back to the 9th I would up with a flashed Teensy and no Teensy software on the C drive so there are no C drive files to conflict with anything in regards to the Teensy setup. Just a guess but it is the only significant changes I can think of since January 9th. This twelve hours of troubleshooting gave me a sore back and the opportunity to see how PinballY works. I think they are too similar to warrant moving away from PinballX. I really like this front end, I am comfortable with it and the support is great. I have it tweaked just right with toppers and color DMD videos, loading GIF's etc. Thanks for trying to help me today. I'm taking a break from innovating and going to play some pinball after a nap! Lane
  19. I found a Pinballx backup from 1/9/2020. Its log shows that the PinballX DOF plug in initialized correctly. I traded the PinballX files with that backup (4.03) and it still did not initialize the plug in so the problem is not with the PinballX revision. It is I suspect with the plug in target. What exactly is the plug in doing when PinballX launches? Does it just point to the dll in the DOF folder?
  20. When I test the plug in using the PinballX P;ugIn Mangager it say everyhing is OK. I'm not sure what you mean by Pinball X DOF settings. I have the file GlobalConfig_PinballX in the DOF config folder and I have the PinballX PlugIndll in the DOF config folder and the Pinball X folder. I am sure it is something simple as it has worked before and the log is plainly saying 12:43:32.00 2/13/2020: Loaded Plugin:"DirectOutput PinballX Plugin" Version 1 By Swisslizard 12:43:32.15 2/13/2020: PlugIn Did not initialize. Disabling PlugIn Maybe you have an idea. Im open to suggestions. PinballY is working. I just installed it today to see if it would use DOF. However, it really jacked up the media import and I like PinballX better. I just got to get the DOF working or else my lights don't work when I launch from PinballX
  21. Good morning I am having trouble getting PinballX to work with my DOF/addressable LED's. I had DOF working in PinballX and then over the last few weeks it became intermittent and now doesn't work. You can see from the logs that it is not initializing and it is aborting. I stayed up all night trying different things. I have replaced the dll for the Direct Output PinballX . I have cleared the registry etc. and yet I can not get it to initialize. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am at wits end. log.txt [SETTINGS].log DirectOutput.log
  22. Thanks for the AC DC GIF. It is great!!!
  23. Thanks so much! I just got home from a work trip and look forward to setting this up. Lane
  24. Yes! I didn’t see the AC DC theme in the GIF thread. That’s probably my favorite table and Angus cracks me up in his uniform!
  25. Yes, once I selected “all tables” PinballX remembers to show all tables on launch. Previous described bug is really no bug at all, just the way PinballX works.
