If the emulator has an option to do so, it could be passed at the command line via emulator configuration. If the emulator does not, I don't see how GameEx would be able to alleviate that limitation.
  2. The rough concensus seems to be a Core2Duo E8400/E8500 overclocked as far as it will go; potentially 4Ghz on air. I recently upgraded from a Pentium 4 Dual-Core 3.0Ghz to an E8400, which is also 3Ghz, and the speed difference is enormous. This is just my normal desktop, which I won't overclock as I'm not a big fan of doing so. But for an arcade cab where CPU is critical, it can make sense.
  3. Beautiful work. Looking forward to seeing more progress.
  4. Well, you won't like my answer, but I'd use this as an opportunity to reinstall Windows. Partition the 1TB drive with 40GB or so for the OS and the rest for emulators. You should be able to move virtually all your emulation stuff from the old drive to the new just with a straight copy. GameEx requires a reinstall, but most of the emulators don't touch the registry and therefore are easy to relocate. Option #2 would be to ditch the wireless and hardware the network connection. Wireless is really not ideal for a PC that doesn't move, unless there are no other options. Endaar
  5. Does the ROM audit properly? (That could go for either of you.)
  6. About the only thing that gets updated more than MAME is GameEx. Tempest is right though - there's no need to keep updating unless a new release adds or fixes something important to you. What you should do however, either if you keep updating or just to sort out your Magical Drop issue, is download and learn to use clrmamepro. It's a pain to get started with, but it will help you validate your ROMs and figure out what will and will not work. Endaar
  7. Wow. Between the emulator mapping and custom menus, you've added a TON of functionality and customization in just a few weeks. Amazing. Keep up the great work.
  8. No problems here with a standard MameUI 130u2 build.
  9. Great - I appreciate the clarification. Thanks again.
  10. Well, I don't know what to say other than I'm sorry for the waste of time. I guess I put them in there by accident when I was trying to have them NOT be filtered. As with most things, it's user error. Oh well, lol. It does raise the question though: what is the order of precedence between "Do not filter these ROMs," "Excluded ROMs" and the various items in mameemumap.ini which read as if they should override everything else? Anyway, I think I ought to go clear out all of my various filters and start fresh. Thanks again for the help and patience. Endaar
  11. Unfortunately, none of those steps helped. EDIT: Gamelist attached. This is after all three steps above. gamelist.zip
  12. OK, sorry I didn't think of that prior to posting. Would have been easier, lol. GameExINI.zip

deano7, were you ever able to get the playlists (via WMP) to work? I'm having the exact same problem. Thanks.
  14. Sorry if there's some better way I should have posted the INI. Guess I could have ZIPed it; just thought of that now. Anyway, when I search, I get two results - one from MAME and one from the separate M2 setup. See attached. Thanks again for your help.
  15. Double-checking everything on my end... * M2 is disabled in Advanced Configuration. * With the exception of "srallyp," every ROM supported by M2 0.9 is part of the model2.c driver in MAME. * MAME does not appear to support "srallyp," however all other ROM names match between the two emulators. * ROMs are in the MAME ROM directory. My M2 config points to its own ROM directory, but the ROMs are there as well. * All the ROMs test OK with clrmamepro. * The following games play in M2, the ROMs are present, but are missing from my MAME list: - daytonagtx - desert - dynabb - motoraid - skytargt - topskatr - vcop - waverunr * I also looked directly in gamelist.txt; all of the above are listed there except for daytonagtx. * OK, this gets stranger (or I get denser, lol) - If I search for the missing games, they turn up in the search results and work just fine in the M2 emulator as they should. So it looks like these just aren't displaying on my MAME list for some odd reason. Now I'm totally lost, heh. 16. Hi All, I'm using the mameemumap.ini file, and I'm either having a problem or am just confused as to how it works. Previously, I had both Zinc and M2 emulators enabled in Advanced MAME config. There were always a few M2 games missing that I never really spent the time to figure out. With the new feature, I thought it was about time I did. I'm running MAME 130u2 and M2 0.9, and have done list updates after each change in settings below. All ROMS pass clrmamepro audits both for MAME and for M2. With Zinc, I disabled it in the Advanced config, and added the specific games that should still launch with Zinc under the [MAPROMS] section. That works fine. All the Zinc games show up in the MAME list, and all but the few I specified launch within MAME itself. Since MAME doesn't run any of the M2 games, I initially left M2 support enabled and tried to add just the games that were missing from the main list to [MAPROMS]. The missing games would not display. The way I read the comments under [MAPROMS], anything listed there should display on the list regardless, which in this case is not happening. Then I tried disabling M2 support and adding the line "Driver=model2.c" to the INI file. That looks like it should list all ROMS supported by model2.c even if you don't have them: "such as when you dont have the MAME rom." It did stop filtering the model2 ROMS to some extent, in that I had five Daytonas listed for example, but the same games are still missing. Looking at one ROM for example: "waverunr" (This same set of circumstances applies to other ROMs that are missing.) * I have the ROM present in the MAME directory and it passes an audit in MAME. * M2 Emulator loads and plays this ROM just fine. * The ROM name is in the "do not filter" section of GameEx's configuration. * Initially I had "waverunr=28" under [MAPROMS]; Emulator 28 is my M2 setup * After that didn't work, I added "Driver=model2.c" to the [GENERAL] section of the INI file, along with "model2=28" in the [MAPDRIVER] section. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for any help. Endaar
  17. From another thread: IMO...Right now, when you move the mouse, it moves the highlight. The arrow keys move the highlight and will scroll the list when you reach the end. What I think a trackball should do is scroll the list without moving the highlight. This is exactly how the scroll-wheel on my mouse works and it's my preferred method of browsing. I think this could be as simple as adding a switch which changes between the list being static or the highlight being static, and that would then work for anything connected as a mouse. Hopefully that makes sense. Endaar
  18. This seems to have cleared itself up for me. I guess there's a minimum number of plays that have to take place before a game shows on the list.
  19. Yeah, I should have pointed that out. I added (er, hacked together) a few entries to the MAME database (hence the "edited" moniker) in order to resolve the rom names issue above. Actually didn't realize this is something map files could be used for, but at this point it's working so I'm inclined to leave well enough alone. Endaar

  21. That's probably the easiest way as Windows should automatically attempt to use the existing credentials when accessing the remote machine. A lot will depend on the NAS though...this should work with a NAS running an embedded version of Windows but I'm not sure what would happen with a Linux based one. Endaar
  22. Haven't tried this yet but it seems like a great feature that should dramatically simplfy a lot of the CD-ROM system setups.
  23. I think the biggest problem is that to do this properly you really need to adjust the transparency of various parts of the marquee. It's a lot of work.
  24. What list? I must just be missing something here.
  25. Can someone please explain how GameEx determines what M2 games should show under the MAME list? Daytona USA for example does not work in MAME but shows up when M2 is integrated. However, other M2 games like Wave Runner and Desert Tank, which likewise do not work in MAME, are not showing up in my MAME list. I have M2 setup as a separate emulator as well as integrated, so it's not really a big deal, but I'd like to understand how things work. Thanks. This is GameEx 9.82 FYI.
