  1. Sorry mate. I thought you knew the answer but were letting me figure it out for myself because i have a very bad tendency of arriving to class without my homework done Cheers, ian.
  2. @ HK Anibak=false I get the message (Teach a man to fish....)
  3. Hi HK. Check out Adultery's site http://www.hfc-essentials.net/gameex/ . Scroll down the page, you'll see it under latest theme uploads (Media Centre Theme).
  4. Hi Folks. Just wondering - I've been using the Default - Media Centre theme for quite a while and was wondering if there's a way to get AVI backgrounds working with them. My display is running at 640x480 (i'm using an arcade monitor). The theme works fine at this resolution (minus the avi backgrounds) and i don't know if it's the fact that it's a V3 theme or that maybe i'm running at a lower resolution than the theme was designed for. The AVI backgrounds work fine with the Default-BlueEX-Arcade640x480 and Default-Custom V2 Default 640x480. I really like this theme and don't want to abandon it just to have an AVI background running. Is there a way to tweak the theme.ini or is it a no-go at the present time ? Cheers, iano.
  5. Hi. No Circo is the creator of Emumovies.com . But i think he has hosted Kenclop's video snap collection. A worthy addition !!
  6. Hi. Don't thank me, thank Kenclops ! I noticed the same problem myself but i just thought it was my crap internet connection !
  7. EDIT: I think i may be having something along similar lines although i'm not entirely sure.
  8. Cheers mate.
  9. Yes... The Aybss looks class. I think it would look well with the Media Centre Theme i'm using.

    Game ex error...

In the command line version of MAME you have to type 'create config' i think or something along those lines. Don't know what the story is with MAME32 though. No the config thing has to do with MAME (not GameEX).

    Game ex error...

It would be (i think) in your mame.ini or mame.cfg file in your mame directory.
  12. Hi Nologic. I don't know. I'm using XP Pro SP2. But i have to admit these looped avi backgrounds are a great idea. I have to get this working. They're very impressive and would give your theme a face lift !

    Game ex error...

Hi. I'm using the command line version of MAME and i always get that message (in a windows command line box) but it has never caused any problems and i don't think it's the reason for the roms not playing in GameEX. Maybe check your Basic MAME & Advanced MAME settings. No doubt someone on the forum will be able to help you.

    ActiveMovie bug?

I got a similar active movie error on exiting GameEX when i used a different build of ffdshow. Now i've went back to the recommended build of ffdshow - everything seemed to be fine until i try to use those nice avi backgrounds - i get a .net broadcast error with an exception happening (index was outside the bounds of the array). It only happened when i enabled the 'Advanced Graphics' option in the setup wizard. Tom said he thinks my problem is a codec issue but i'm using the recommended build of ffdshow and have no other codecs installed. GameEX_Logs.zip
  15. There is a demo video (vob) from Digital Leisure you could dl and convert it to an avi. But it is just a intro and has no gameplay but it's better than nothing i suppose.
  16. Yes Tom. They play in WMP11 fine on same machine. Funny thing is my mame lightning intro (before gameex menu appears) and my music videos / mame avi previews play fine (as far as i know - will have to turn off 'Advanced Graphics' to check for sure though). Thanks, iano. EDIT: I'm using the suggested build of ffdshow and no other codecs.
  17. Now I've really done it ! I get a .net broadcast event window with an exception error happening (index was outside the bounds of the array). From my previous post have i put the avis in the right place ? I'm using the Default - Media Centre theme (i think it's a V3 - not sure) and i'm running 640x480. Cheers, ian.
  18. Any ideas to why i can't get them working folks ? I must be doing something stupid. I've read Kenclop's post a few times, searched the forum, downloaded Lingpanda's tutorial on using avi backgrounds but i'm absolutely stumped (i've spent an hour trying to get these cool backgrounds to work to no avail). Cheers, iano.
  19. Have you tried Circo's site Emumovies ? If you can't find it there it might be worth sending him a pm - he may have what you're looking for.
  20. Have you checked this ? http://techsmith.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/tech...amp;p_topview=1
  21. Hi Katuuuz. Have you tried using fraps to capture your avi ? It's very good and seems easy enough to use.
  22. Thanks Kenclops. These are cool (keep them coming) ! Hope like HK suggested that Tom will host them. I've followed your instructions but GameEX is still using the pngs . Is there something else i have to enabled (Setup Wizard?) or should GameEX just use the avi backgrounds as a preference over png backgrounds ? I have the avi backgrounds in the same folder (theme) as the png backgrounds and have them named accordingly. Maybe it's the theme i'm using (Default - Media Centre) or perhaps i should have certain lines in my theme.ini ? Cheers, ian.
  23. If you could find out whether this skipping happens outside GameEX (just running thru mame32 say) someone may be able to help you better. I'm sure it's one of the first questions you'll be asked. Do you have the triplebuffer option enabled in mame32 or in the gameex command line for mame ?
  24. Glad to see you got it fixed. I had a similar issue myself but it only used to happen when i exited a particular pc game. When GameEX regained focus the screen was scrambled - it puzzled me for days on end !
  25. Cheers HK.
