    VP9

After cleaning some old files and registries, what ever was causing the problem has been eliminated. Not sure what or where the problem was hiding, but who cares as long as it is good to go. Thanks anyway. DuB

    VP9

I normally can figure out, or find an answer to most problems I have here, but this one I need the great wisdom of the forums to help me. Everything works great but my pinball. What is happening is I will start a table,(loads fine)and be able to play it, but then VP will crash randomly on every table in my list. Sometimes it will happen on the first ball or even more aggravating is when it happens on the last ball on A rare good game, Grrr I have tried VP9.2 , 9.8, 9.9 with same results. I have played several tables multiple times outside of GameEX without any crashes. Yes these are VP9 tables. (I knew you would ask, beat ya to it.) Where should I look and what am I missing that would cause this. Please help. Thanks.

    Game crashes

I got it figured out. What I did was delete the NVRAM and Diff files of these games and they now work. I do remember having a problem before, and it was due to updating MAME and ROMS sets and leaving these the old files in place. Thanks for the help, and sorry for the dumb questions before I actually thought about the problem. Thanks again. DUB

    Game crashes

Okay here is what you asked for. I am only running one version of MAME, I have just tested with different versions of it and got same results. Just weird that these 2 that I have tried playing crash and all others work fine.

    Game crashes

I had a friend over that wanted to play some games and we found that 2 games always crash. I have only noticed this problem (so far) when we tried playing 1941 and Mortal Kombat, all other games we have played worked perfect. I have windows completely hidden using the instant sheller. (Windows home on an old Dell) I have tried 2 versions of MAME with same result (Mame32 and MAME) Both my ROM sets and MAME are up to date sets.(0.139) Both of these games run fine outside of GameEX on same machine. Is anyone else having an issue with these, and is there a way to correct? Thanks
  6. Krakerman If you are running vp9 and are getting a out of memory error, I have read on VP forums that if you start VP, load the table, go to options,un-click HD and save table this should resolve this issue. I have done this and it works, but on my lower res monitor not all tables will look like they should without HD. On my HD monitor they all work no problem with HD on. Hope this helps. On another note. after getting most of my tables set up with no HD setting. I started Game Ex, and the DMD on the pinball tables do not show up unless I hit F3 to restart the table. Then it shows. Does any one know what I am missing? The tables with a DMD score board work outside of Game EX without issue. But when I launch a table in Game EX,no DMD until I hit F3 for restart of table. Weird?
  7. Open the advance configuration and go to Enable/Disable features. on the last page make sure that you don't have the delete games disabled.
  8. This could be a resolution problem in VP. Do you have the same issue out side GameEx? I can only suggest to check this. Open the VPinball.exe At the top, click on preferences. In the list, click on video options. Here make sure that you screens resolution is set correctly. Then load the game from here and see if moving the score window will save after exit. I know some of the pinball games have a default where this screen is. I am not sure if you can change them with out messing up the table. If you try, Make a back up of the table first and use that to mess around with. Good luck.

    Game EX on PS3

Has anyone tried or was able to get GameEX to work on a PS3 system? Was wondering if I partitioned the PS3 installed Linux and Had Linux boot GameEX if this was possible to work? If so what version of Linux was used.
  10. Yes I have the same issue. All videos work as well as mame preview videos and intros. But when the screen saver activates I get a black screen with the arcade ambient sound playing. I also can not get out of the saver as it locks up at that point.
  11. I am sorry for my stupidity, This is working correctly. I just realized that I had the wrong ffdshow installed. Even after getting the most recent ffdshow, I installed an old beta version I never got rid of. That will teach me to watch what the hell I am doing Hey. Great Job Tom and everyone on making this THE BEST front end I have used. Thanks
  12. I have updated gameex to this newest build and now none of the AVI videos will play. So I have installed the newest version of FFDSHOW and nothing, I have even tried the Vista Pak. and no luck. The intro, game vids, movie vids. all do not work. Please can someone help me figure out what to do to get things working again. Thanks.
  13. Look in your mame folder and see if there is a artworkgameex folder in there. If there is delete this folder or move it out of the mame folder. Also in the advanced config. in the mame settings, change the use bezels to a blank setting. I have read that this is automatically set to use bezels as default and does not need to be set. At least this worked for me.
  14. Look Here And Here Or just look it up in the search topic. There is already a lot of help out there on this that helped me on this same issue.

    Direct X Problem

Sorry to say but this did not help my situation. I was not using the instant shell program, I shelled this manually before. Then I tried this program, It will work as long as I have checked the; "Hide Startup,Login,Stutdown Screens and Set Auto Login" This would be fine if I was using this as the arcade machine only. I need the login screen for a normal windows entry and a shelled arcade entry. See I have kids that come over that like to play games and I do not them having access to windows. They messed up shit last time. So I have the windows login to need a password and the arcade does not. If I had the space I would just build another machine but I do not. I am in a small condo and would love to have another machine, but the wife won't have it. I am taking to much space now in her minds eye. Damn, why did I get married? Rotten cheep Tequila.

    Has anyone had any luck?

    Direct X Problem

I have notice this problem starting after Game Ex update 9.66
  18. Okay I have tested my settings and was able to get a blank screen. Hopefully this is the problem. In the pinball config. change your working path to only where the vpinball exe. is WorkingPath=Z:\Visual Pinball not WorkingPath=Z:\Visual Pinball\Table LNKs
  19. I had something like this happen to me, look and see in the advanced config. under your pinball set up and find the show desktop. This should be YES. At least this was the problem I had.
  20. To put the game back, open the advanced config. and go to advanced mame settings. click next to the end and look for the rom name in the excluded roms and delete just the one you want back. The screen saver stay in the config and open attract/screen saver. at the end of this one is a setting to turn off bezels. Hope this helps
  21. Not sure if this will help but my rom filter is *.vpt Command line is VPinball.exe -play -"[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]"

    Direct X Problem

I have been playing with this and now found that if I don't use the welcome screen the front end loads. The thing that sucks, It is so much easier for the kids to just go turn on the PC, click on the arcade icon and play from the welcome screen. I still don't see why this is not working like I had it. Any help to get this to start from the welcome screen will be greatly appreciated.

    Direct X Problem

That made no difference changing either one from admin to the other. As a matter of fact, It would not even start unless it had Admin privileges. But when I took out the intro vid it works. ? Is there something wrong with the vid? Only ask because eventually I will building a PC to run just the games and would like to have this working on it.

    Direct X Problem

Yes Both are set up as Admin. I will try this out and get back with results.

    Direct X Problem

I posted this in the wrong place so here I go again. (I'll get this yet. ) This is a machine that I have GameEx shelled on and this error only happens at start up. If I enter in the explorer and manually start it, it works fine. Okay I have the PC set with 2 login users and 1 is set up with this as the shell. I do this so when the kids come over and want to play games they can only log on as the Arcade and can't mess nothing up on the PC. I am sure some one was down that road before. I did have this working last year but had to rebuild and now getting towards the holidays, we are going to have a house full once again. If you know what I mean. But I can not figure out why this time is different. Please help. Thanks R-DuB
