  1. Thanks again for your help. Iâ??ll fiddle with the settings some more. If anyone has any more ideas feel free to post them. Sometimes I feel like I spend more time fixing my computers than enjoying them.
  2. So does this mean it's most likely a Vista or graphics driver issue? I can try to set all graphics and preferences to default if we think it would help. GameEx continues to set resolution to 1280 x 720 even though the display is at 1920 x 1080. Like I said I did recently change displays, and I think the old display was set to 1280 x 720. But I ran GameEx for several weeks without any issues after the switch, and I've completely reinstalled GameEx since then.
  3. Thank you for offering your time. I've attached the ziped GameEx.ini file. Just for reference there was also a custominput.ini, gameex.default.ini, and a GameEx.UpgradeBackup file in there. GameEx.zip
  4. Thanks for your help. I uninstalled GameEx again and this time deleted the GameEx folder in Program Files. I am still getting the same result. I tried to get a screen shot to show you what it's doing but the only thing that pasted was what is displaying in the upper left corner (GameEx). I only have one display hooked up to this computer and I have the resolution set to the displays default settings (1920 x 1080). I went through the Nvidia control panel and Vista's Personalize settings but I didn't see anyting out of the ordinary. Of course I'm not very tech savy (I had to go onto the internet to find instructions on how to take a screenshot). Thanks again for all your help and please let me know if there's aything else you would like me to try.
  5. I uninstalled GameEx and installed it fresh. I did no configuration, left everything default and I'm still getting the same problem. Am I missing something? I don't have much else installed on this machine (it's a HTPC) but I haven't noticed any other program not utilizing the full screen.
  6. I reinstalled my video drivers with no luck. I also went through and fiddled with display options and tried a few more themes (first time to try a V3 theme; I really like them). I'm going to uninstall and reinstall GameEx unless someone has a better idea. Is there a file I can keep to save my settings? Thanks, Sty151
  7. I tried a few things last night. In GameEx config I changed display settings from don't change resolution 1920 x 1080 to keep below 1920 x 1080. This helped a little, now the splash video still starts windowed in the upper left corner but it expands to fill the screen except that the task bar and Vista gadgets are flickering through. Any mouse click and GameEx is minimized. When selected from the task bar it expands to fill the screen and all is fine, runs as it should. I also thought I had found it once by changing from a Vista "dream screen" to just a single color background but this only fixed it once after that I still had the same problems. I'll try reinstalling my video drivers tonight. Any other suggestions? Thanks again for the help.
  8. I'm sorry I should have provided more info. GameEx is only occupying the upper left of my screen and the rest is almost a double image of GameEx and my desktop flickering. There is no option to maximize the screen so I windowed GameEx and then maximized it with it still going to the top left 1/4 of the screen. I also tried a new theme but with the same results. I did recently change my monitor from a 4:3 display to widescreen display. But it worked for a couple of weeks after I changed displays. Any specific theme or anything else I can try to narrow the problem?
  9. Hello, GameEx is running windowed. I'm not sure what I did to make it do this but it was running fine and then suddenly I'm having this problem. I checked the configuration settings and I don't have it set to run windowed and told it not to change resolutions. Any help would be appreciated. I'm attaching my log file. Thanks, Sty151 log.txt
  10. No I haven't tried it. I'll investigate it and try it out. Thanks for the advice.
  11. Thank you iano. That fixed it. I had downloaded the latest stable version; not the one from 2005 on the GameEx other download page. Viewer works great now. I'm also looking into having videos of the games play as well. I'm still using snaps. Anyone got any suggestions on features to try now that I've upgraded my cabs computer? sty151
  12. Hello, I just upgraded the computer in my cabinet and thought I would try out the video preview of multimedia files. I haven't tried this and a few other features because of the age of my old computer (I'm not going to say how old it was but when it was purchased that annoying guy was saying "You're getting a Dell, Dude"). Video preview won't show the video and would not stop playing the audio of whichever movie I pointed to first. I would have to exit GameEx to stop it (playing a different movie wouldn't help, I would just hear two different audio streams). I upgraded to a dual core 2.0 GHz, with 2 GB of Memory and an older AGP video card. Is this not enough computer to take advantage of this function? Additionally most of my movies are MP4's and I'm using a splitter and FFDShow to play. They play fine once I turned this feature off. Your help is appreciated. Sty151
  13. I was having a very similar problem (my post was entitled: Error Log When Exiting A Video). My minimization problem had to do with video settings/software. Nothing I did to GameEx seem to help. I eventually updated windows, codecs, players, drivers, anything to do with audio or video. I think the fix was when I updated some Nero software or the Widows updates (happened at the same time). Cleaning up my codecs helped but did not remove the problem. Sorry I can't give you an easy fix. Hope this helps.
  14. Well, knock on wood, the minimizing issue seems to have stopped. Unfortunately I can't pinpoint any one thing to help others with. The last thing I did was to completely reinstall anything that had to do with video (codecs, players, drivers, etc.) and let my cabinet download all the Window's update's it wanted. Thanks to all who helped. Sty151
  15. Okay, an update on my minimizing issues. The CCCP codex did not fix the error log issue. It's just didn't happen a few times. It's back now and the minimization at start is also still happening. Along with the other things I mentioned I have disabled my plugins, changed themes, and because if I move the joystick around while it's starting up it will only minimize once before taking me to the start page I turned off my custom inputs. None of this helped. I even hooked my cab up to the internet (dial-up) to let windows update in case that was the issue. 24 hours later without a phone and I still have the same problems. Anyone got any ideas what I'm doing wrong or haven't checked? Thanks again for all of your help, Sty151
  16. Thanks, the CCCP codec pack fixed the error log and minimization after playing a video. But I'm still having the minimization problem when GameEx starts up. Anyone got any ideas about that one?
  17. Thanks for your help. I tried disabling the attract mode and a fresh install of my graphics drivers but this didn't help. I don't think I'm using the official divx codec. I'm using the ffdshow from the GameEx link. To describe in more detail, GameEx's loading screen comes up then GameEx minimizes; I click on it from the system tray it goes to start page and if I don't use the navigation controller quick enough it will minimize again. It always minimizes after playing a video (avi and mp4) and now exits and gives me the error log. GameEx is running on a dedicated cabinet. It's pretty old (slow), it isn't connected to the internet and I don't update most things on it. I've been using the same custom theme for over a year and have been noticing the minimization problem for 3-4 months. The error report is relatively new. My son would appreciate any help you can give (heâ??s the one that watches movies on it). Otherwise it plays games fine. Sty151
  18. Hello, I am getting the attached error log when I exit a video in GameEx. I have also had trouble when GameEx starts (and before this when exiting from a video) of GameEx minimizing to the toolbar. I found someone else who had a similar problem and they solved it by removing Nvidia's desktop software. I did this and it didn't seem to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Sty151 log.txt

    Plugin Problem

I was also able to get the plugins to show. Several look like quite a bit of fun. Thanks for all of your help.

    Plugin Problem

I tried the newest plugin manager and got the same result (just like the screenshot I attached earlier). It's like it can't find the plugins. I checked, I have a folder called plugins in the GameEx file. It has files in it and I let GameEx install to the default location. Just to make sure I'm doing everything right. I'm just uncompressing the executable file to my desktop and running it. Let me know if I need to put the .exe file somewhere else, etc. Thanks again for you help.

    Plugin Problem

I used the supplied plugin manager and still got the same blank screen. No errors. The only difference I noticed was that using the debug version it loaded much faster but again just showed me a configure screen with no plugins to configure. Anything else I can do? Thanks.

    Plugin Problem

Here's a screen shot of what the Plug In Manager is showing. It's not giving me any errors and GameEx is running fine. I'm sorry the only way I could get it here was paste it in a Word doc. Should I run the attached debug program? Thanks. New_Microsoft_Word_Document.doc

    Plugin Problem

Howdy, I uninstalled .net framework 1.1 and still can not get the plugins to show up in Configure Plugins. I've attached my updated log. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do. Thanks again. log.txt

    Plugin Problem

Hello, I'm having trouble with the plugins included with GameEx. When I open up configure plugins it opens but I don't see anything written. There is a button to configure and exit but no plugins to choose from. I found them in the appropriate folder under GameEx but can't get them so show up. I have tried this with version 7.09 and 7.54. Is there something I need to turn on or configure somewhere else? I'll attach my log file but there is no problem running GameEx. Thanks in advance for any help. Sty151 log.txt
  25. No problem. I can't really say enough about the new Setup Wizard and GameEx its self. Your work is appreciated.
