  1. Hello, I used the GameEx Setup Wizard and added the Intellevision Emulator, Nostalgia. I think the emulator configuration supplied with GameEx may have a problem. It wouldn't run until I changed the command line from "nostalgia.exe "[ROMPath][RomFile]"" to "nostalgia.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]"". The change is the addition of a backslash (\). I'm no wiz at this stuff so that may not be a problem but I wanted to let someone know. I also wanted to thank everyone whoâ??s worked on the Setup Wizard. Even though I've been using GameEx for over a year I still found, and now, understand a few more features better because of it and the new user guide. Thanks, Sty151

    Advance Config

Thanks, I'll try joytokey and appreciate your directing me to some additional help setting it up. I'll let you know if I have any problems. Thanks again, Sty151

    Advance Config

I'm sorry; I guess I don't understand your reply. If youâ??re saying that 10 buttons should be enough then, yes 10 buttons would probably be enough for any system. But, I was hoping that I could (easily) add some buttons and get the most from my Logitech gamepad. I already tried to just add some lines of text to the .ini file located in the \CONFIG\EMULATORS\ folders but that didn't seem to change it. I've included some of the .ini file here to make sure we are talking about the same thing. [JOYMAPPING] # For mapping a GamePad to keys # Specify a virtual key code to send when the specific joystick control is pressed. Look at vkcodes.htm for codes. JoymappingEnabled=FALSE Left=37 up=38 Right=39 Down=40 Button1=17 Button2=18 Button3=32 Button4=53 Button5=54 Button6=49

    Advance Config

Hello, I just started using the advance config function for emulators that don't let you choose a keyboard press and joystick button for the same action and love it. But I have a question. My joystick has 12 buttons and the advance configs only go to 10. I tried to add buttons to the text file but that didn't help. I'm not very technically savvy so I'm sure it's something simple but I have no clue. Your advice is appreciated, sty151
  5. Thanks guys that did the trick. Base 16 numbering systems rock. I'm going to convert everything in my life to hex. Well maybe not, but I'm glad I got another great feature for this great front end working. Thanks again, Sty151
  6. Thanks 812MANY Skimming the list I don't think "t" is used. But any code for any keyboard key that's not used by MAME would work. I plan on mapping it to a shift-key combo on my IPAC. Whatever's easier for you? I hate that you have to do this for me but I appreciate the help. Sty151
  7. Hello, I also have a 4-player cab and had to disable the panel viewer becasue it would come up when using the 3rd player (the default is L which is player 3 right). I don't understand why 76 doesn't equal the F7 key by the virtual key codes list you attached. How do you convert to hex value? I think I'm missing something there. Thanks in advance.
  8. Hello, I have a couple of requests: 1. The ability to show more than one image for videos/movies. I like the fact that I can show a snap of the video but for movies/TV shows/etc it would be nice to show other images like a scan of the movie box or poster. COMPLETE 2. Similarly, the ability to show either text or scanned (.pdf) instructions for each game if available (mostly useful for console and PC games). I have seen some online for some of the more popular consoles; and most PC games come with an electronic copy of the playerâ??s manual. 3. And/or the ability to add our own viewable images categories on a per emulator basis. For example the Intellivision came with (and scanned images can be found on the net) cards that slipped onto the controls. I'm sure other systems had unique per game images that would add to the experience. If we could add/name them in the configuration setup, per emulator, you wouldnâ??t have to include them for every emulator. I hope these requests make sense. I scanned the other posts hoping I wouldn't duplicate something. You've done a great job making everything seamless and elegant so I donâ??t know if you can show a pdf or txt file and keep the whole thing as slick as you have. Thanks in advance for your time. I really enjoy your frontend. Thanks, Sty151
  9. Hello, Thanks GotMame and WTB for your help. I finally figured out that GameEx and WMP could play all the movie/video files I had but they were just not showing up in the lists. I changed the file extensions from .mp4 (Nero's finished product) to .avi. And now they show up and play. This may have changed with GameEx version 5.17 since it sounds like it relies less on WMP but I haven't updated yet. I haven't taken advantage of many of GameEx's features yet. There are so many now it may be time to update its documentation. I hope this helps someone else with their video problems. Thanks, Sty151
  10. Thank you WTB. Your right, WMP 10 does not see the files and I never even though about making my own theme. That's what I will do. To expand on the video issue; I was playing the files on the Nero player and codices (whatâ??s the plural of codec? oh well) that came with my DVD-RW drive. In the config of GameEx I had a choice of three Nero codices but none ever worked. I downloaded some additional codec packages and they still did not open in WMP 10. The package did include a FFDshow and Media Player Classic. I don't know what FFDShow is and I don't know if Media Player Classic is compatible with GameEx. I will continue to look for a codec that is compatible with WMP 10 and my files but if someone knows of one please let me know. Thanks again for your help. Update: WMP 10 does not see the files if you explore from within WMP. But if I just click on the file and say play with WMP 10 it does play it, just fine. Still no luck getting these .mp4 (or anything except .avi) files to play in GameEx.
  11. Hello, First, let me tell you how great I think GameEx is. I tried several other frontends before finding GameEx and it's the best looking and most usefull of them all. Second, I want to say that this is my first post on an internet forum (so be gentle). But if I break any unwritten rules, please feel free to let me know. And, Third, after useing GameEx for several months successfully I have a couple of questions that I could not find the answers to in your documentation, here or by trial and error: 1. I want to put some of my DVD collection on my arcade machine but compress them to save drive space. The only videos/movies I can get to play are .avi videos. I have not been able to play movies I ripped from, my personal, DVDs (as VIDEO_TS files in a folder) or converted to MPEG-4 format by Nero (with the supplied codex). I even tried a program (ratDVD) that packages a DVD in one file like the Nero Digatel that was designed to be used by Windows but that didn't work either. Are these formats supported the GameEx media player or do I need to find another plug-in or codex? 2. I also wanted to know how to change the pictures/artwork for Daphne and Mame. I can direct GameEx to look for a certain graphic for the consoles, like a picture of the 2600 console but couldn't find that for Daphne or the Mame screens. For Daphne I have been putting a new graphic in the media folder but this gets changed back everytime I update GameEx. Is there a way to change this in the configuration menus? I probably just missed it. Let me know if I need to send anything about my system or setup. Thanks in advance for your help.
