  1. Thanks for the update. I'm having this problem on my dedicated arcade machine so videos are not its primary function. Let me know if I can test something or other way to help.
  2. Yes I am still getting the same result after I updated to 11.08. I also installed a fresh version of GameEx on another hard drive (same computer) and got the same result. Additionally, I installed it on a different machine and video worked. I'm pretty sure I'm using default - media center theme but it looked slightly different on each install. Anything else I can try? Thanks again for all your help, Eric
  3. I'm using Windows XP (fresh install a couple of weeks back because I was having a different problem). It's SP3. I have auto updates on. I checked and all critical updates were installed and I even installed the optional software as well. I'm using an old PCI video card (Geforece4 MX 440) because my AGP slot does not seem to support direct3D. Video drivers are 93.71 (most recent). I use Haali Media Splitter and FFDShow (Ver 3476) to decode videos. They play along with DVDs in WMP. I have a short video that plays at startup without any crashes. I played the same video from within GameEx and it crashed. I've included my GameEx.ini and I am using the default - media center theme. Let me know if I can provide anything else. GameEx.zip
  4. The issue is still present when I turn off VMR 9 and it does not crash when I run GameEx windowed. I also updated to 11.07 still same problems. Can I try anything else?
  5. I am no longer getting the net framework error at start of movie files, they play, but when I exit out of them GameEx crashes. Here's my log. Playing physical DVDs is almost the same but I don't get a picture or sound and when I exit I get the same crash. Let me know if I can try something else. And thanks for the help. log.txt
  6. I'm having the same problems with videos and playing DVDs as Rixx and almond. Would you like me send any of my info or do you think you have it figured out?
  7. You are correct Tom it's not GameEx. I ran dxdiag and it showed everything as working. Tried reinstalling DirectX, I tried another AGP video card and it's drivers without luck. I even went as far as a fresh install of Windows and GameEx (because I noticed a Sega emulator doing the same thing that worked on another computer) and still no video. I finally got it to work when I put in an old PCI (not express) video card. So it's got to be something to do with the AGP slot on my motherboard. I either need to change a setting or the slot has gone bad. The odd thing is everything else still works through the AGP slot, just not video using Direct3D. Has anyone else had this happen or heard of this before? I'd like to think it's something I can fix in the bios or a setting I'm missing in hardware management. I know this probably isn't the best place to ask for help for this but I appreciate any help you can give. I'm at my wits end.
  8. Thank you for looking into this for me. Here's my GameEx.ini. There were several ini files in the CONFIG folder but it was the only one named GameEx. I can also put in an older video card and drivers if you'd like me to try that. Just let me know what I can do. GameEx.zip
  9. I found that setting, it was set to the highest. I can see the screen during the auto update and when the screensaver starts and plays a game.
  10. I'm sorry I can't find compatibility under display settings in GameEx or in my display driver. Is this a setting in GameEx? The desktop is running 32 bit.
  11. It's an older card - Nvidia GeForce FX5500 Forceware 175.19 - the last update for this card. I checked in the video card settings and GameEx and it looks like everything is 32bit color. Not sure if it has hardware acceleration. Can I do anything else?
  12. Hello All, I auto updated from 10.80 and now GameEx does not show anything. It's a black screen but I can hear my startup video play and all other sound. When I exit GameEx my desktop is viewable again. I went to the config and tried a different theme but got the same result. I've attached my log. My thanks in advance. log.txt
  13. I tried the Shark007 codec pack and am still getting the same results. I can play DVDs in WMP and with a Nero Player but no matter what codec I choose in GameEx's setup I can't get DVDs to play in it. I start the DVD and almost instantly it makes a ping noise and is back to Play DVD in Multimedia. Anything else I can try?
  14. I had it set on ffdshow for DVD playback in the Multimedia section. But I also tried several Nero codecs listed as well with no sucess. Should I try a different codec?
  15. Hello, I can't get physical DVDs to play in GameEx anymore. It could at one point. It's an option I use pretty infrequently so I'm not sure what I did to break it. I've included my log file. It doesn't mean anything to me but I'm sure someone can tell me what I'm missing. I'm running XP and FFDShow (updated less than a week ago). But I've also tried a Nero Codec that's on my Arcade. It does play in WMP. Thanks in advance. log.txt
  16. Yup, that fixed it. Found the backup, renamed it and let it update. Thanks for thinking ahead and putting that backup feature in. All's well that ends well.
  17. Hello, I just started GameEx this morning and everything looked different and just about everything was missing. So I went to configure GameEx and all my settings are gone. Everything was blank, MAME, Daphne, Multimedia, etc. I auto updated last night but after the update everything was fine. Is there a backup of my settings somewhere. It's like it went back to a new clean install of GameEx. Any help would be appreciated; there's no way I can remember everything I've setup over the years. Thanks, Sty151
  18. Wow, thanks Tom. This really makes GameEx a one stop multimedia program. I don't know if you've talked this up much in the features section but streaming is supposed to be the next big thing. I also wanted to mention that when adding streaming sites to the HTML section in the configuration I was limited to a small number of sites. It's not a problem now but as the number of sites rise it may become one.
  19. Thank you for adding that to the HTML function. But I'm still having trouble with the screensaver coming on and playing over the streaming video. I went through the configuration and could see the option to hide the GameEx toolbar. After putting "yes" in there and trying it again the tool bar was gone but it went to the screensaver as usual. I didn't see any other option. Am I missing something? Thanks to everyone who helped with suggestions. I think it will be awesome to be able to stream Air Wolf episodes to my arcade cabinet without leaving GameEx.
  20. Hello, I added my Netflix "watch it now" webpage to GameEx as an HTML application. Two problems arose: 1- the home and exit buttons flickered the entire time a movie was playing and 2- the screensaver kicked in and took over after we were watching for awhile. Is there a way to watch streaming media in GameEx without disabling the navigation buttons and screensaver for everything in GameEx? I would like to set up several streaming media sites Hula, TV.com, Youtube, etc. and never have to leave GameEx. Thanks, Sty151
  21. Thanks again for all the help everyone. Feel free to laugh at me, but I did copy the entire line with the %'s and all and put it in the command line section. After the fix it all works now. I can Hibernate via an external application and wake my cabinet by wiggling a joystick. It wakes back to GameEx without the need to re-enter any passwords. All the controls work too (mouse, IPAC interface, joysticks). I did check and there is a request to add Hibernate in the request section (page 20 something). Sleep would be a good idea for Vista as well if it helps when that request's turn comes up.
  22. I tried adding an external application with that comand line. It didn't show up in GameEx. Do I need to designate a file path or do something else in GameEx configuration to make it work? Additionally, my NAS isn't Windows based. I was too cheap to pay the windows tax. But I'll try playing around with passwords and creating accounts. Thanks again for everyone's help.
  23. Papazark, I wasn't aware of a function like that. If I could get that to work it would resolve my issues. A little more detail though. All my computers are setup without passwords. So the cabinet was set to boot straight into GameEx. The files were located on a different computer and as long as the computer with the files was on, the arcade cabinet would go straight into GameEx. I just bought a network attached storage device and it requires password the first time after a reboot even with mapped folders (but not after hibernate). Does XP have an auto remember and input password feature? If so I'll try it. Bkenobi, I'm not very computer literate but I assume you want me to copy that command line to GameEx as an external application? I've never played with that feature in GameEx before but I'll try it tonight and let you guys know if anything wonky happens.
  24. Hello, I would like to hibernate my cabinet from GameEx. This would allow my 6 yr old son to start the cabinet with only the push of a button or move of a joystick and not have to enter passwords to get to the media server. When I navigate to the GameEx Exit page it gives me the options of logging off, restarting, exiting GameEx, turning the system off and standby (but this doesn't turn off the fans, lights, etc.). If I exit GameEx and go to the Windows (XP) shutdown I have all those options plus Hibernate. I wanted to see if it's a Windows option I need to set or if it's even possible for GameEx before making a feature request. Thanks in advance
  25. Wow, I don't know how I missed your post Wahoo but I just figured the same thing out (without the "Use Windows XP style DPI scaling" solution). Ignore the internet for a few days to get some work done and pay the consequences. I was having issues with a PC game overfilling the screen and figured the problem with GameEx was a Windows Vista issue. So I started setting everything back to defaults and when I switched the font in Windows back to the default everything fit the screen again. Thanks for your help. It is hard to read the text in Windows from more than a few feet away even with a 50" display. Hopefully I can find a custom DPI that works and allows me to keep my vision. Thanks again for everyone's help, Sty151
