  1. Sorry for the delayed reply, real life interfering with my arcade time again! I have the newest CPWiz installed if it's auto installed with each GameEx update, otherwise no. I'll have to double check the version number as I'm still having the same issue.
  2. Hi Headkaze. I haven't checked in on CPWizard in awhile and noticed you've gone through some rev's. Did anyone ever figure out what was causing the arcade monitors / AVGA card problem? As a reminder, what happens is every other time I bring up cpwiz it crops out 3/4 of image so in the upper left I can see the cp image but the other 4 quadrants of the screen are black. This happens consistently every other time I bring up cpwiz, one time it will display perfectly, the next it crops out 3/4 of the screen. It's very odd.
  3. Just an FYI for when you get the new one. I run mine with Vista and don't have any problems so it's definitely compatible.
  4. Thought I'd post this for the general info of the GameEx community in case anyone else uses AlbumPlayer for a touchscreen juke or is interested in licensing AAC's etc. Don't think there's any conflict here as AP isn't really a competitor of GameEx and has been discussed on this forum before. The AP dev's comments below. -Shaun Thank you for looking into it in first place. I know all these links and that is what is holding me from including AAC. There are fees required, and even worse you have to keep an administration for it. Then I have the AP demo, which might also give a difficulty. Should I pay for it or not. As mentioned before, it gives a lot of worries and trouble. The AP doesn't work wth codecs so the quicktime solution won't work. Because AP runs on BASS audio library I have to use the BASS_AAC plugin, besides patent stuff also a nero license is needed. This is the full list of contacts and links I have to go through to use BASS_AAC. For commercial use of BASS_AAC, please contact Nero AG at: [email protected] For information regarding patent licensing for AAC, please see Via Licensing's website: http://www.vialicensing.com/products/mpeg4...o/standard.html For information regarding patent licensing for aacPlus, please see Coding Technologies' website: http://www.codingtechnologies.com/licensing/aacplus.htm For all other formats, which are equal or better, I do not run is this kind of difficulties at all.
  5. Thanks for the info kenobi, I'll pass it along. -Shaun
  6. Wondering if any of the developer's here might know what's involved in licensing the AAC format. I use touchscreen juke software that I really like that unfortunately doesn't support AAC. The developer is unsure of how to include it and looking for suggestions. If anyone has any development experience with AAC I'd appreciate any info. Thanks, Shaun
  7. Here's a list of top MP3 Tagging contenders someone on the AlbumPlayer site shared with me: Six Best MP3 Tagging Tools http://lifehacker.com/5266613/six-best-mp3-tagging-tools
  8. Thanks for all of the responses and info everyone, very helpful. Wobbly, I've registered AlbumPlayer (upon your suggestion, thanks) and agree it is great software, especially for a touchscreen Jukebox. I guess I didn't know it could deal with the tagging as well as other apps. Can it automatically pull info from freedb and Amazon? I'll have to check it out more. That still leaves me with comparing multiple folders of overlapping music where I would like to merge them into a single folder with the best bitrate and compression scheme, basically have it choose the best file of the ones I have and axe the rest. Any ideas? Some generic diff tool or is there a music specific one floating around somewhere?
  9. Thanks kenobi! Below are the others I've run across in my search for the benefit of other. Media Monkey seems to be the top contender. If anyone wants to weigh in on those below if they've used them I'd appreciate it. 10. I am starting to import and update my music collection for a touch screen jukebox and was wondering if anyone here in the GameEx community has some good suggestions for good software to organize digital music files. Looking for solutions for tag editing, folder comparison, de-duping and/or selecting the best file from dupes. For the tag editing I'm looking for the usual. Something that can correct mislabeled music, add the album name if it isn't known, add missing tag info like the genre automatically by looking at freedb or Amazon. I think I'm going to have to use at least 2 products, one is probably better for tagging and one for the music quality selection but am eager to know what your 'best practice' solution is for organizing your digital music. Will probably need a good comparison tool for comparing 2 folders of music with overlap to find the best file as well. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  11. Was wondering where the old skins were. Thanks again.
  12. Is Vista completely shell-able like XP yet? I was able to do a custom boot screen with Vista but never completely hide the os and auto-launch GameEx on startup.
  13. I can't remember, are the GameEx plugins downloaded and updated with each release? Wondering if I need to manually download the newer versions of them or if I was covered with my auto-updates. Specifically the LED and CPWizard plugins.
  14. Good to know, now I can try both skins! I see they're working on an Antique style one as well. Thanks Wobbly. Have either of you tried any customization or making your own skins for Albumplayer?
  15. Hey zx, I just watched your YouTube video and it looks like you're using an older version of Albumplayer. Any particular reason?
  16. Thanks for the feedback. After downloading demos and testing several, I agree that Albumplayer seems to be the way to go.
  17. Hello again GameEx community. I've been gone for awhile, I bought a house back in Oct. and am finally finding some time for my arcade projects again after all of the moving and home improvement. This is off topic but one of my new projects is a touchscreen jukebox. I've bought the touchscreen already (an Elo Intellitouch 1739L) and am now debating software. I'm thinking of using TouchTone which I chose this mainly because I saw it on KnievalKustoms.com. I'm also perusing the byoac forums for tips but I was wondering if anyone here has built a touchscreen jukebox and has any recommendations, tips, suggestions? Thanks, Shaun
  18. I have a pair of Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 controllers that I use for my emulated console games and really like them. Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2

    [OT] GOG.com

Haven't been around in awhile so maybe this was already circlulated. If you haven't checked it out yet visit gog.com. Some great older pc games you can download for 6 bucks and they're all DRM free.
  20. I have some suggestions for you. Don't forget you need a P1 AND P2 coin button. You'll want at least one Pause button. 2 is even better, one on the left and one on the right, so each player can pause. For the action buttons some people like 7 for neo-geo fighting games. These games use 4 buttons in a straight line so you add a button to the lower left of your normal 6 and when playing those games just use the bottom 4. Sample 4 button layout here In addition to a select and back button you'll need an alpha paging button. When you hold in this button you can cycle through your game list alphabetically or page by page depending on whether you press up/down or right/left on the joystick. These don't have to be separate buttons necessarily, you could use any of your normal action buttons. For mine I use the top 3 action buttons as Select|Back|Alpha Paging. You'll probably also want an exit button to get back to the desktop. Consider a trackball and spinner. The trackball, in addition to playing games like Marble Madness can double as a mouse. It's going to be tough to completely go without a keyboard. There's so many things you're constantly tweaking and setting up as you get more and more into adding emulators etc. Even once you have GameEx config'd you'll still need to change setting within individual emulators, button assignments in MAME etc. I'd try to hide the keyboard rather than abandon it completely. Good luck!
  21. As suggested in a previous post I've heard to use the Vista Codecs to play vids better. I think I'm using the FFDSHOW codecs but... how can I tell which codec I'm using and how do I obtain and install the Vista codecs if I want to give them a go?
  22. Thanks for the updates Tom! I have a couple minor problems. The last couple versions I've noticed GameEx waiting to launch until my video previews are done playing, this was a problem in previous versions and then fixed for awhile and now back. Also, when I go from my main Mame list to an individual game I get the 'Please Wait' dialog popup where it was always instantaneous before. I'm running Vista home.
  23. They are but there are cases when you'd want to add/remove them individually. In this case, I was troubleshooting and didn't have internet access and didn't want to do the full Gx upgrade. I thought the individual plugin would be easier to find or add/remove than it was. In the end I found what I needed, just had to dig back through the forums. You might want to pull down or update the User Created Plugins sticky as it's outdated and certain plugins (like Oggalz U360 plugin) don't fully work. Just out of curiosity, why aren't plugins handled through the GameEx setup wizard custom options? Seems like it would be better to have it as a similar option to adding/downloading/removing emulators. And I'm sure you have nothing better to spend your dev time on right?
  24. I was curious if there's an easy way to add plugins 1 by 1. I just updated a friends machine and had to dig through the forums for hk's UltraStikPlugin post. The stickied user plugins topic doesn't seem to be up to date.
