  1. Well, mainly the option to exclude the -artwork parameter for now. But If the screensaver could have bezels turned on, while off in the main Mame settings, when you play the games, that would be pretty cool.
  2. Although of course the bezels are turned on always now, which makes some of my favorite games, like Donkey Kong, only utilize about 14" of my 29" screen. :/ It's a difficult choice, but I think I'm going to stick with fullscreen games instead of the screensaver, for now. I hope Tom finds some time to fix it, or make it possible to change the screensaver parameters. Maybe add a "ScreensaverCommandline=" in GameEx.ini if that's possible? That would be awesome.
  3. That did the trick.
  4. Thanks. I'll try that later tonight.
  5. I know this is kind of an old topic to bring back to life, but it fits exactly into what I'm experiencing with the Attract Mode. I've decided to do a major makeover to my GameEx setup, and the next priority on my list is getting Attract Mode working again. I think I deactivated it some months ago, because it stopped working. And now that I've found time to look into it, I see it's the exact same issue, as mentioned above. In GameEx, whenever I start the Attract Mode/Screensaver, it goes right back to GameEx. By running the last action from log.txt in a command prompt, I get an "Error: unknown option: -artwork" message box. Does anyone else have it working? Or am I the only one running it on my cab? I spiced it up with some nostalgic videogame commercials.. I can watch those things for hours. I am by the way not using bezels. And I noticed GameEx is creating an "artworkgameex" folder in my Mame directory. I don't know if that's supposed to happen.
  6. Yeah, I found myself with some time on my hands again, so I thought, why not give the good old cab an update.
  7. Updated danish translation. By the way, "SearchList=Soegning" should be "SearchList=Søgning", but the danish character "ø" doesn't show up, resulting in "Sgning". As far as I can see, it only happens on the search page. Danish_v9.30.zip

For a cab, I'd also recommend WinXP Pro SP2, with a customized boot screen, and a hidden shell. I have a long running project of setting up a machine as media center, also running GameEx, and for that, I prefer Vista's media center. So far, I haven't encountered any problems, that I couldn't resolve in one way or another.
  9. Being from Denmark, Arcadeshop.de in germany and Ultimarc in the UK, are the preferred choices.

Hello there, I also stumbled upon the .nib set, and didn't know what to do with them, so I got the GameBase collection from somewhere. Unfortunately their cataloguing isn't very frontend friendly, except for their own. So I found a Top 100 C64 games list on the interweb, and manually plucked these plus a few of my own favourites out of the folders. Then it was easy to set up with VICE in GameEx.
  11. Updated danish translation. Danish_v9.02.zip
  12. GameEx is the only software I know of, that you can miss like 5 updates in one week. I better get the machine updated before it gets totally outdated. Nice work. I'll do an updated danish translation shortly.
  13. Guess not? Ah well, worth a try.

  15. I think it would be easier to find what you're looking for, if you're specifically searching for something. And I could imagine that it would save some work for moderators cleaning threads. But yeah, the actual setup of dividing threads into new categories, looks like an overwhelming task. I do think it would pay off though.
  16. As a moderator for a long time now on several forums in Denmark, I've grown fond of seperated forum categories. Seeing how the GameEx category on the Spesoft forum has grown to be very active, I'd like to suggest a dedicated GameEx forum. Has it been discussed before? What does Tom think? What does everybody else think? An example of how it could be set up.
  17. Well, I think cheating in a singpleplayer game or against ai players is fine, but cheating against other people is saying a lot about that person. I compare it to a very dishonest person, someone who would lie through their teeth. Not a person I would spend any time on.. And certainly not a person I would help cheat in any way. I should say that I had been engaged in the biggest danish counter-strike community - XplayN.com - 4-7 years ago, and have build a certain hate for these people with lack of ethics.
  18. I fixed it by cleaning the registry, and it has been working since then with very few changes to the keymappings. So for now, I'm set. But I'll keep it in mind if the problem comes up again, thanks.
  19. I have an Ipac, but it lost its config after every boot (the problem is not GameEx related). But when I finally got it working, I swore never to touch the config again, unless it was absolutely necessary. MAME has an option to configure keymappings for all games or games seperately in the "ingame" menu (tab button), so that's how I manage multiple keymappings. Regarding hiding windows, take a look at this article.
  20. Hey whattayaknow, it did do the trick. Sometimes the problem is obvious, but it takes a new set of eyes to pinpoint the exact cause. So thanks.
  21. Well, I'll be sure to let you know. My mame cabinet is not in my home, so I don't have the opportunity to try it out at the moment. It might not be tonight, and maybe not tomorrow, but I should have some time on wednesday. Sorry I can't give you feedback sooner, but thanks for looking at the issue, I'm sure you found the cause.
  22. How the heck could line feed dissapear? I've only used strict text editors, like notepad and textpad, for editing the list. It had never occured to me that line feed could go missing. Does GameEx process the .ini in some way and then save it? I'll give the fixed .ini a try, thanks. Edit: I just checked the .ini file, this does not have a (visible) missing linefeed in Textpad, but it does in Notepad. I assume Textpad corrects this upon viewing. But how it could place a CR without the LF, just for these 3 categories, is a mystery to me.
  23. I don't use the icons, so my .ini is pretty much just categories in [ ] brackets, followed by rom names. The [root] isn't used by GameEx, so that's also out. I attached my custom categories, if anyone is interested. Just rename to .ini. If anyone imports them, I'd be very interested to hear if you have the same problems with the multiplayer categories. Folders_GameEx.txt
  24. Yeah, I'm fairly sure it's format is correct, as all the categories in the .ini is shown in GameEx, only the multiplayer categories are empty. [2 Player] 1941 1941j 1943 ... [3 Player] 3stooges armwar armwara ... [4 Player] aafb aafbb aafbc ... etc. If I import it in Mame32, it shows up fine. That's what baffled me. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. I don't think I'll look into it further though, because all my spare time at the moment is going into starting a company. So as long as our favorite games are playable on the mame cab, I don't think I'll have the time or the energy to fiddle with config's. I do still keep visiting this forum, and I'm amazed by all the activity at the moment, and the level of helpfulness. And I'm curious as to which features are on the way, in future releases.
  25. It's not the nplayer.ini categories I have a problem with. I made a custom .ini with my own categories/genres, for example 2, 3 and 4 player multiplayer games. It was working well, but I noticed that the games in those categories dissapeared anywhere between versions 8.84 and 8.88. I'll admit I made a lot of config changes to GameEx at that time, but this topic reminded me of this issue. Maybe the two things has nothing to do with eachother, but in case they do, at least I know I'm not alone.
