  1. Thanks for the replies. After messing around with Launcher X as well as most settings in PinballX, my system is once again booting into PinballX from Windows startup (and I can see all 3 screens again). The setting that was causing all this frustration was in the Display Settings. I must have changed Full Screen Windowed to NO. This setting needs to be set to YES. Now, everything seems to be working once again. I will say that when this setting was set to NO, flipping between tables in PinballX was a lot snappier than it is now. I'll still trade that for all 3 screens working on bootup, but I wanted to note the differences.
  2. rablack97, Thanks for the reply. I finally had some time to test this a bit more and even though PinballX launches now on startup I just selected it to YES in the PinballX settings, I still only see the playfield screen. Sometimes PinballX minimizes itself in the taskbar again. This is mind boggling, since I had it working for over a year perfectly and the only thing I changed is VPX to run in exclusive fullscreen mode. As for using Instant sheller, I've always stayed away from shelling since I don't know enough about it to get my system out of trouble, if something goes wrong. That said and after reading the instructions on the Instantsheller/GameEx site, are all of those steps really necessary still or is there a more straight forward way of installing and setting up the sheller? Short of this, I'm stuck with not having PinballX load on startup. Instead, I'd unfortunately need to keep a mouse near the cab and manually click open the program each time.
  3. Update: I can now get PinballX to launch at Windows startup, however once open, I can only see the playfield screen. I can flip through the table selections and launch tables to play, but the backglass and DMD do not show up while in PinballX upon Windows startup. If I close Pinballx and the reopen with mouse clicks, it runs fine and I see all three of my screens. Also, if I launch a table (even though the backglass and DMD monitors are blank in Pinballx), the table loads fine and all three screen are on and work properly. Once I return to PinballX when I close that first table, all three screens are on as normal...but then after a few seconds, Pinballx sometimes gets minimized to the Windows task bar. This all used to work for me with no issues, however I'm lost here and don't know what to try next? Any help is very much appreciated.
  4. After switching to VPX exclusive full screen mode for smoother game play, I noticed when PinballX launched from my Windows 7 startup, it would launch, but then hide itself in the Windows task bar. I could click on it from the task bar and it would run as normal, but I wanted to find a way for Pinballx to open and stay open upon starting Windows (I previously had PinballX start at Windows startup without issue). So, in my trial and errors, I now can no longer even get Pinballx to open when Windows boots up. My system opens to the desktop and I need to click PinballX to open it. Can someone please let me know what settings to change in order to have PinballX launch when Windows starts? I already have the option set to YES in PinballX settings for it to open in Windows startup in the settings. There must be some other options I changed for this function to stop working (and to reverse and get it working again). Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.
  5. Hey guys, I was having the same issues as some of you once I switch VPX to run in exclusive fullscreen. I needed to switch to excl. fullscreen since there are an increasing number of awesome tables that gave my system ball stuttering when VPX was running in windowed mode. When I tried Tom's exe from his post above at 3:30pm and then changed FsWaitTime in the registry from 1368 to 0, that did the trick! I'm not sure if it was the exe and changing FsWaitTime but it's working and that is great! I'll do more testing, but for now, all db2s backglasses seem to be loading okay from PinballX. I had a couple of tables (Addams Family and Gold version) that didn't load, but then I swapped out my existed db2s files for those tables with other ones. That did the trick and those are now loading as well. If it was the FsWaitTime in the registry, great find. Of all the searching I've done, I never came across that as a suggestion before Tom mentioned it above. Thanks again, Tom!
  6. I found that my using custom xmls for just those table I wanted to create videos for actually created a lot more work (many of my tables in PBX reverted to older table videos under different names). I guess I have multiple videos of each table, so I may go back and delete all but those I now use. I let PBXRecorder run through all tables in my main xmls and after correcting a few errors, all looks good! Now when I add or change a table, I can run the recorder again and it's SO much faster to go through. Many thanks again to gtxjoe, Carny and gStav for the help and great work on this. This is one of the most efficient and useful tools on my pin cab!
  7. Thanks gStav, I removed the space after the file name and now it recorded the videos. Note, the videos I create don't play with the default f4v player, but they play fine with the vlc player and look good in PBX (which is all that matters). Now on to creating custom xmls to record only those tables I want to update or removing my existing vids needing an update, then re-record. Thanks guys for the help and this awesome tool.
  8. I finally got around to trying PBX Recorder and I'm sure I'm missing something simple. I removed all tables from my xml files, except the new Metallica pro table. When I run PBX recorder, it seems to render the table just fine. I can see in the log that it recorded both the table's PF and BG, but I can't locate the videos, as they're not in the media folder as it states in the log. What am I missing? Where can I locate the created videos?
  9. Thanks greeze. Sorry for the thread hijack, I'll jump back out now.
  10. I know it's off topic, but you mentioned a new Robocop table. Is this for VP9 or VP10 and where can I find a copy? Thanks!
  11. This looks like an awesome tool and I can't wait to try it. My current setup has videos playing for all tables in PBX (I don't believe there is any missing media for those tables in my xml), however I would like to record newer versions for some tables to better reflect the actual table being run. Is there a way to select specific tables to capture video from, instead of recording missing media or complete sets? Thanks.

    Exit Image

I figured out how to get an Exit image to display when exiting a table and going back to PBX. However I found by adding an Exit image, it takes an extra 5-7 seconds to get back to the PBX menu. So, I have removed the Exit image to speed up the return to PBX. Has anyone noticed a way to speed up Loading a table from PBX, say by removing the Loading image? This didn't work for me, but wanted to know if anyone else had such luck.

    Exit Image

If I use the same image (or located a different image), how to I get it to load when I exit tables from PBX? Do I simply place the image in the same folder as my "Loading" image and name it "Exit"?
  14. Update: This awesome table now plays every time it's launched from PBX (all other programs need to be closed). It is now among the top 5 tables played on my cab! Thanks for the great work and support!

    Exit Image

When launching tables on my cab, the "loading" image tells players what is happening. It is awesome that PinballX now supports exit images as well. Does anyone have some cool pinball or "please wait" or "just a moment" images they are willing to share? Thanks in advance!
  16. Thanks for the ideas. I searched both of my drives and found the culprit under PinballX>Media>Visual Pinball - Physmod 5>Backglass Images. I don't recall creating a separate folder for Physmod table media and this file name was not exact how the table is named elsewhere. This one seemed fairly hidden, but glad to have found it! Now that I see this media folder, I'm removing it and making sure I have only BG videos for all my VP tables in PBX. This seems to be working, as I now have the same BG video as my DB2S BGs (well, most of them are the same). This makes for a more seamless experience when exiting one table and launching another. Great stuff!
  17. I thought I'd bump this post, since I still cannot locate where this image with the speaker grill is coming from or how to remove it. Does anyone have an idea of where the image might be (it's not in my PBX media folder anywhere) and how to remove it from showing up when I launch or exit this table?
  18. Thanks for the suggestion. It could have been this (probably was), as I can now get ACDC Stern to launch from PBX, well, most of the time. The table still seems to have trouble sometimes if I have any other program running in the background. For example, if I have been making changes to PBX and the Game Manager open or a web browser, then this table sometimes crashes on launch. For the most part, it seems to be running more consistently. I still consider this an unpredictable table, as I never know if it's going to launch or crash. Since it's now launching more than it's crashing, I'm going to leave it and see how it does when it gets more play. Thanks for the help!
  19. All of my BGs are BG videos and are stored in my PBX media folder. The DB2S option doesn't seem to change this. Even though the images popping up during table launch and exit look like DB2S, they are bland/faded and static images. There must be somewhere these launch/exit images are being stored...I just can't locate them anywhere on my system. Any other suggestions where I might look for these images or even better, where I can force PBX to only use the same BG video (or even one of my static images of the same table) that I actually have in my media folder? Thanks!
  20. Thanks Ginsonic. For someone like me who has not done this, how exactly is it done? I open the ACDC stern table with regular VP, open the script, then what do I change in the script before compiling?
  21. Thanks for the reply. I do not have Directb2s enabled in PinballX. I didn't think this is the correct setting for my system, but since I'm running a 3 screen setup and my Directb2s back glasses are running properly when playing, might this work? I can always try it, but wanted to get your thoughts on different settings for this strange issue. Thanks!
  22. I did grab the log.txt after launching ACDC. It shows both the ACDC table and MM table attempted and one thing I notice in the log is MM shows Exit System Control Pressed (since I pressed the exit table button). The ACDC table shows Exiting, not Exit System Control Pressed (I did not press anything, it just crashes). Is this because VP crashed after launching ACDC or is this a normal log entry? It sounds like this might be the most resource intensive VP table (at least of the tables I have). There is an ACDC non-rom table, that plays great. It's just this amazing Stern version from Javier15 that is giving me so much trouble. Are there settings I should look at to be sure my system has enough resources/horse power to run this table every time?
  23. Hey guys, I wanted bump the post to see if there are any settings within my PC or PinballX to get tables to launch/exit a bit quicker than 10 seconds for each one. Maybe system resources are being pulled away to other actions and not to PBX? Any thoughts?
  24. Thanks rocky. I was able to get a couple of tables' media to change to what I want. Now for some reason, when I launch and exit Medieval Madness, I see an old BG with the speaker grills showing (instead of the BG video or image I have in my media folder). This is strange since I no longer have any MM BG images in my media folder with a speaker grill on it. I attached pics of the launch/exit BG and the BG when the table is playing. Where is this BG coming from? Where does PinballX look for BG images during table launch and exit (since it's definitely different than what I imported from the Game Manager)?
  25. Thanks Draco, here is my log. I hope you see something that I need to change (fingers crossed)! Log:
