Hello U-man, thanks for your advice. I will give the monitor a try and buy a low budget ati card! Is GameEx still working good on that setup with displaying games text and videos and so on? I also tried the prescale from 8 to 5 without noticing any difference. Then i tried your HLSL setting and it gives the extra pop on the pixels and looks very nice. i do like it better and using it now. Besides i couldn't quite remember where i got my setting but i think there was a U-man and jezze in that mame forum :-) -

Hi, 1. how hard and time consuming was it for you to set up (and i mean with all mame games running!!!) a cab with a arcade monitor + arcade card from ultimarc? Easy - Medium - Hard - You Will Cry Blood? 2. was it worth it in retrospect (time + money + hairloss)? 3. do you miss the bezels and art that mame can display? 4. is the hlsl setting in mame (0.167) like having a arcade monitor or close to it? Hello, is there a .ini line of code that changes the rotation of nebulas model 2 emulator? There is a option in mame called # # CORE ROTATION OPTIONS#rotate 1ror 0rol 0autoror 0autorol 0flipx 0flipy 0 by setting ror to 1 it will rotate right. is this possible with the sega model 2 emulator from nebula? anyone out there with a vertical cab setup? i want to play the emu on my soon to come vertical screen cab. Thanks

I was experiencing random crashes in my GameEx and could't solve the issue. After disabling the Desktop Customization ( Aero and stuff) it does work again and since then had not one CTD. I don't want to renounce the Aerostyle and my customized desktop so by using a link on my desktop an in that link under compatibility there set a hook on "disable Desktop Customization" . When gameex starts it will be disabled, when it is closed the desktop theme of windows 7 64bit SP2 with Aero is back on. So maybe this is also crashing your gameex so i'm sharing the info. If you have a nice tool for this that would be very handy! I tried different command lines with 7zip but its a hassel, i now have total commnder with a 7zip plugin. After decompression of my faulty 7zips i wil 7zip 500 psx folders. -
Hello, 7zip files that have a warning message prevents 7zip to work in game ex, extract these 7zips with the warning message and simply 7zip them again the games work instantly in gameex i hope i could help other people save some time (took me hours to figure out) AND avoid a space at the very end of the name of the rom, the .7z or .zip won't load! below is a long explanation

Thanks Thank you, i will check out SQLite Compare Utility, seems to be the best choice for this and then name it Gameboy BW&Color. Then select that .db3 in the emulator setup wizard. Hope it works! i tried it but it is to complex, i will stick with two emulators for the Gameboy and Gameboy Color -

If you choose to have trackball support by saying so in the setupmanager when using a Trackball moving the trackball to the right, the list or selector goes down and when moving to the left it goes up. This is bad when you don't use a list and instead use thumbnails of your games that are in rows and columns. This had to be changed to going left when moving left and right when moving right so you can actually use the trackball inside game ex to maneuver and then select a game you like. It renders the trackball useless or lets say very annoying to use because after scrolling fast to a row with a game you like to play or take a look at you then have to use the stick to get the selector on it. When using up it moves the List or selector up and down down, that's fine but please change left to going left and right to right. Everyone with a trackball will appreciate this. Hello, i have the same problem, i can't use any keyboard attached to my PC while using PinnballX, i can use a XBOX360 controller to use PinnballX but that is no option.I have installed the latest PinnballX and the latest Flash and the latest shark codecs.I have a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard, a bluetooth mini keyboard and a Tankstick. I disconnected them and used one keyboad at the time with no luck.Anybody out there who solved the issue? I really want to use PinnbalX, if i should provide more information i'll do. With the remote it is fun to play but after buying a aimtrak lightgun i now have a true arcade feeling and it is realy realy dead aim and worth the money! you will never need a crosshair again in mame just BLAM off the cuff !

Hello, maybe i have to clarify: I donwloaded the command line mame64 from mamedev.org like B2K24 suggested and used his updated files but it didn't work, i suppose GameEx is not using the new Category.ini My GameEx didn't had a Category.ini in it in the first place. I now Updated my GameEx and used the Files from B2K24 and the mame64 from mamedev.org, after the "Update list" the Category stopped between Puzzle Bobble 4 and Q*bert, everything after Puzzle Bobble 4 has no Category and is clearly not using the Categories at all from the Category.ini. When i go to the Category overview it states "no Categories". I then deleted the Category.ini to see what would happen and did a "Update list" instead of empty categories nothing changed. And how could it, the Category.ini is using [Racing / Cars 2] [Racing / 3D] and such and my games are labeled "Driving" "Driving / first person" in my "mame all games" list. I did take a look in the Catver.ini and found this in it:"samsh5sp=Fighter / Versus" thats how samurai showdown 5 special is in a category in my gameex and then there is "sfrush=Driving / Race (chase view)" that category-info is not showing up in Gameex but exists in the Catver.ini so why is gameex not using it? I deleted sfrush.zip and the chd folder but it did not do the trick. How come that all Games with "The..." have categories? With different Catver.ini i get category's till Puzzle Bobble or till Samurai showdown 5 special. after that i did use my old mame and old files from the datafolder. i now have categories till samurai showdown 5 special like before so sadly updating GameEx didn't help. I provide the NEW Gameex.ini and Log.txt + a screenshot of my Categories. (upload of gameex.ini failed again, but a zip file worked flawlessly???) What can i do? What is going wrong? Hello, i downloaded the command line mame64, made a clean folder, then i copied your files in the data folder, besides i didn't had the Category.ini in it, i opened the Category.ini in notepad++ and it is a file that sorts mame games in categories. it uses other categorys as those who are displayed in my gameex. like "Race" in the Category.ini is "Driving" in my GameEx-Category 1. what is the Category.ini good for? 2. should gameex use it? i used the gameex-wizard to look for a path to the Category.ini file but couldn't find it. after that i did a "update list" and sadly it didn't work well. At samurai shodown 5 special "Fighter/Versus" is some sort of break, after that the games are without a category, the next game for example is san francisco rush and its missing its category like all other games after samurai showdown. I checked Ridge Racer if that displays correct but ridge racer and ridge racer 2 Rave racer are without a category. Sadly my Problem is not related to the Mame version i use. My gameex version isn't updated for about 3/4 year. 3. Do i have to update gameex so this works correct? Somehow i don't dare to do that, i put so much work in it. 4. Is there anything i can try? Hello, thank you for trying to help me. I checked all the paths in the wizard. I did extract and overwrite the files in the data path, then did the update list. Now it is even worse, Ridgeracer for example has no category at all now, its just blank where the category is normaly shown, before that it was in the "driving 1.st person view" category and if selected it was showing that. If i go to the "Driving" category APB is still there but Roadblaster is gone, no other games are showing up from the other driving categorys. So basically the new files didn't add games, some even lost their category. What is going wrong there? i did an backup earlier of my old files and copyd them now over the one you provided. I then updated the list and back is ridgeracer with the "driving first person" category. In the "driving" category Roadblaster has also returned. Schould the category "driving" show all the mame racing games? What can i do? I provided log.txt if this is any help, i tried everything to add my gameex.ini but no matter what i tried i get errors like Upload Skipped (Error IO

Thanks for the quick reply. Under mame: When i select "shooter / gun" in the category selection, suddenly all mame light gun games do show up! So this is fine even if i dunno why it is correct now :-) When i select "Driving in the category selection in mame there is only APB and Roadblaster showing up and not the rest of the driving games, i assume it is not a base category where all driving games show up (Driving /1.Person, Driving /chase, etc.), only those who are labeled "Driving". When i go to a mame driving game and select it and then select "more driving" a huge list is showing up with hundreds of games from all sort of console and arcade roms. Is there a option to only show the Mame roms then? It's to confusing else and maybe there is no real solution to it.

1. Is this also possible for Lightgun-Games and Driving-Games? 2. Can i make a own category? When i set the category Lightgun in GameEx only half of my Mame-Lightgun-Games show up. The Driving-Games category is unusable because you have to choose a view type (1.st Person view, rear ,etc.) and shows all in all half of the games i have. I want to have all Driving-Games in one category.

Yes! Please try if it is possible to use two Wii-Motes! Atm i'm using Mame UI 1.55 with Dinput enabled and WiinRemote. In the Option-Menu of Mame-Ui i then have to tick lightgun when choosing controls for lightgun, not the mouse. Was going nuts about that because i wasted much time in needless fixing.

@ B2K24 yes! i was so wrong by doing the chd file not in a folder :-( after doing so it works! i did read it wrong on an other forum where it clearly states doing the chd to the zip files and i sticked by that. so null pointer was right at the beginning.. man i should have done that what he suggested. i thought it would not search in under folders. i changed the name of themameui to mame.exe to not get trouble with gameex THANK you Draco1962 nullPointer B2K24 and happy gaming!!! sorry to go offtopic but i dont want to start an other thread, does somebody get Mars Matrix to work? Mameui says files are missing but it lists exactly the files that are in the zip file??? i also put the qsound. bin in the zip. i tried to make a folder with the contens of the zip i tried to make a folder within the zip with the contens of zip but it keeps asking for the files. i have the parentrom and used all sort of combinations with us jpn . if someone has an idea you can also pm me please. thank you. -

@ Draco1962 'assuming you are using integrated MAME support' - yes i do use the integratet MAME support @ nullPointer setting 'show chds in seperate list' to true (ShowCHD=true in gameex.ini) just makes another list with game roms that require a chd. in a folder. when enabled it doesn't show psyvar ( just killer instict street fighter 3rd strike etc.) this game is startet with psyvaria.chd not a .zip file. @ B2K24 i did use update list, but somehow it won't show up psyvaria.chd . i also just took psyvaria.chd and renamed it to psyvaria.zip to have a look what happens, the game is displayed properly but is not starting. (the .chd works when using Mame ui) is your psyvaria will this be only displayed in the CHD seperate list? not with the other mame .zip games? i do use MAMEUI 0.149u1 i attached the Gameex.ini and log.txt -
Hello, i tried to let GameEx show up psyvaria.chd in the frontend but somehow it is ignored by it. How can i add .chd files to be shown up? I did put it directly to the other .zip , without a folder. Thanks
