I tried to get a wheel view at the startpage to no avail. I downloaded several themes and tried to make use of the theme editor and looked inside the theme.ini s . 1. Is there no way to get a wheel view of the startpage? 2. Can gameex evo show a wheel at start? 3. Can I transfer my gameex to evo? Thanks for your help

Thank you Tom Speirs, I found the mamebak in my theme. After deleting it, a blue gradient image is showing, it's the mamebak from the default theme. After deleting that, the background artworks are no longer showing when I select a Mame game and look at the game info. So I did replace the mamebak with a black png and now the transition is much better. It's a workaround.

Hello. When i select a Mame-Game in the Wheel while in the background the snapvideo is playing, for a Brief second a Mame Backgroundimage from Gameex is displayed, then the text and images pop up and the artwork and the other image is replaced. It is some sort of default Backgroundimage and comes with the default theme i think but i could not find it in it. I did search in every theme and Gameex Media folder to swap it with a black picture. I think i already did this some years ago. Now its not a good transition and is ruining the experience. Other Emulators are not affected. I have the same problem after taking the update. My custom theme and my custom menue is also messed up. even after deselecting custom menue and taking a downloaded theme the downloaded theme is not shown right. there is also no text-button for change view. so im stucked with text based gameslists and can not choose a wheele view. is there a keyboard command for change view in a theme? please fix this best regards

The Programm is called Gamma Panel, as far as i googeld it, it does not support command line instructions. the send keys does work and the keys to send on exit, after altering it to "^%(g)" and "^%(f)" it does change the profile within gamma panel!!! i am super hyper mega thrilled that this works! i tested it with several emulators and so far its a success. that was a pain in the ass before and i tried .bat files but this was easy after figuring out that i have to write everything in "" so that it will be pressed together and that letters are in normal () thankyou stigzler and reddog so much, you made my day!

Do I have to write everything without spaces? I will test it out tonight and I am totally excited if it will work. I have a real arcade cabinet with a arcade monitor. If any emulator is showing more then 640 x 288 the monitor will go into interlace and this results in a darker image. Some details are not visible and that was the reason I installed a program that can change gamma and other things with a keyboard command. So ctrl+alt+g will load the values for progressive and ctrl+alt+f the interlaced settings with higher gamma and brightness in that program running in the background. I tried Demulshooter today and finally i can play with both Aimtrak guns House of the Dead 2 or Confidential Misson in demul! Even Model 2 is supported. But sadly you have to specify by command line what system and what game you want to play first, then you start your emulator with that game and can enjoy two player lightgungames. for example: DemulShooter.exe -target=demul07a -rom=hotd2 -noresize does anybody did set this up in gameex and if how?

Hello Dr Evil, did you find a solution? What you are describing is exactly what happens to my new gameex installation. I did check all my MAME paths but still it is not updating. Is this maybe a bug in the new GameEx version?

again i did a clean install of gameex, then only put my old gameex.ini in it and downloaded the databasefiles with the repository updater. i started gameex and tried to update mame but it is not updating my games. it writes updating done after a second but there are no games present. the paths in the mame setup are 100% correct. what are the necessary files that gameex needs to build the mame section?

Here are my files, i did check all the entries in the mame setup in the wizard like the rom location and the mame exe location and also if the catver.ini etc. is in place but i could not find the error why gameex is not finding my mame roms, is this because i did copy over my gameex.ini from the other installation? what files do i need from my last installation so that the mame games are present again? i also tried that mame should show every mame game without looking for my roms and its still not showing up anything GameEx.ini log.txt

I did install it locally now but the error is exactly the same, some more suggestions please? i also did a clean install and gameex is working then but is without my setup. UPDATE: i did a clean install then did copy over gameex files but did not overwrite anything then did copy the gameex.ini over and now it does work the error is in the data folder, when i copy the old data folder to the new installation the error occurs. what are the main files that i need to transfer to have my mame setup? because now i dont have any games in my mame and when i update it does not find any roms. the other emulators are working

I did the update but now my GameEx is crashing directly when i launch it. I did try to disable my N64 because it is the 10 Emulator but it did not the trick. I do provide the log and ini, please help me GameEx.ini log.txt

i did change the setting in the wizard. in the gameex.ini it does show now as "DontSwitchRes=False" sadly it does not work and gameex is stil taking my actual win10 desktop resolution my windows display driver is set at a 640x288 60 hrz progressive desktop resolution (win 10 graphical user interface) i do use the GIGA DRIVE theme that does use a 800x600 resolution (which should be 30 hrz deinterlaced in my case) in the log it does show : 13:09:55.6 02.06.2017: Setting Resolution to 800x600 16 bit color 13:09:55.6 02.06.2017: Creating Surfaces 13:09:56.0 02.06.2017: Warning: Display is running in full screen compatibility mode. 13:09:56.0 02.06.2017: Applying GameEx is Loading Image 13:09:56.0 02.06.2017: Setting Resolution to 640x288 16 bit color 13:09:56.0 02.06.2017: Creating Surfaces 13:09:56.1 02.06.2017: Creating Primary Surface - Windowed Mode 13:09:56.1 02.06.2017: Loading graphic Surfaces 13:09:56.1 02.06.2017: Display is running at: 640x288 32bit color, 60hz full screen compatibility mode, what is that? does it resize and shrink and also set the display to a windowed one in 640x288 ? i did look into the compatibility settings in properties in the gameex.exe but the only tick is on run as administrator UPDATE: i did use all the ticks in the properties and there compatibility section of the gameex.exe and after using the windows 7 compatibility mode it DOES WORK AGAIN! i then unchecked the windows 7 compatibility mode and still gameeex is using the theme resolution again!!! must have been some sort of bug... i also changed my windows 7 to windows 10 a month ago dunno if this is related just two more questions: can i use a "start before" command to launch a .exe before launching mame? i want to launch a .exe to change my display setting and also restore with a "start after"? and the deadzone setting in display tab in the wizard is not working, it does nothing even when using 25 as a setting. i do have a huge overscan area so this would be nice to use, anybody had luck with this? Hello, gameex is not taking the theme resolution in the theme.ini, it doesn't matter what theme i choose. Also when i specify a resolution in the display setting in the setup wizard and set it to use it it is ignored. It is only using the display setting of win 10, so when i have a resolution of 800x600 or 640x480 or 640x288 in win 10 gameex is using that. i want to run the win 10 desktop in 640x288 and than a theme in 800x600 but can't figure out what is causing the problem. i did use a clean gameex.ini just to look if something is broken or messed up and after using the wizard the themes resolution is used by gameex again, not the win 10 desktop res.. but i don't want to loose my configurations. Sidequest: can i ShellBeforeLaunch in mame a .bat or a .exe? and what would it look like? i tried my best to fill in the path but it was not working (launching a bat that changes the display resolution) Does anybody has a clue what is the problem with gameex not taking the theme res? I want to change the size of the Wheel with the Logos, it is to little and the Logos also look very bad and not propper displayed. how can i do that?

Hi Evilforce, i did use "iobit driver booster" to update drivers, i also installed "all in one runtimes" but i will use "driver easy" as you suggested. I do have a AMD graphic card, its the ARCADE VGA 5000 from ULTIMARC with HD5450 chipset and installed the drivers from the ULTIMARC website. The card is running in a arcade cab with 15Khz resoutions. i did try a skin yesterday that was more text based without the wheel. i did not had a crash to desktop in that session. i will test it further.

After using GameEx for half an hour now today it did crash to desktop like before. The log looks a little different and also the last 7 minutes scrolling through games is not in the log. Also i did notice that in the wheel some wheel logos are often twice displayed with one wheel logo that is not right and the other one is correct. when selecting a game to the game overview (manual marquee etc.) and switch back it does display the correct wheel-logos. i will disable all plugins next and take a look. Can it be that scrolling many games has something to do with it? i did take a look to half of my emulators games and did scroll fast with my trackball. should i monitor my ram? GameEx.ini log.txt

I did not try to disable the plugins, before reading your message I did a clean install to my C: SSD drive and copied over my gameex files, but that did not change issue. but then i changed the gameex resolution from 800X600 to 640X288. 640X288 is my desktop windows resolution. i tried it now 2 times with a full reboot and it did not crash for the time i tested it, even scrolling very fast and changinging emulators and playing a game did not crash it. only thing is i do not see gameex boot up, loading databases, when windows starts, its just a blackscreen and by pressing the backbutton after 20 seconds or so the screen turns up. i will test it further if this is the solution and will not alter a thing and will report back when i am 100% sure it is now not crashing and changing the resoution in gamees did the trick

From one second to another the screen is gone and the desktop is visible, this is instant. The icons are hidden then, as is the mouse. there are no gameEx remains running in the background. it does happen mostly while scrolling through games with the wheel.

Hello Draco, thanks for your fast answere, i changed the setting in the gameex.ini but it did not solve the issue. I did a new install of gameex to a new location and copied over the old gameexfiles. It now even crashes at start up after 56 seconds and not doing a thing and again: 11:36:56.9 09.03.2017: Not Restoring Emulator Database From Cache: 1000 as the last entry. GameEx.ini log.txt
