  1. I have been trying to download the mame evolution database but it keeps quitting on me. I am using Winscp ftp protocol but it doesn't seem as if it is resuming. Is this a crappy ftp downloader?
  2. Here is the new ini. I disabled SNES emulator and this is the new error message GameEx.ini log.txt
  3. My computer stopped shutting down and so I went to the power settings to fix it.l I then got harddisk errors so that Windows 10 scanned it and removed GameEx and Hyperspin off my desktop. When I went to run Gameex later that day. It crashes and gives me and error. I forgot where the ini file is but I sent you the log. Thanks so much log.txt gameex.default.ini
  4. This is weird. When I went to load game ex it turns my screen black and crashes. I can't even use the Windows ctrl alt delete to show the Program so I have to restart my computer. I checked my setup wizard and touch screen is turned off. Thanks. I had it working perfectly for my emulators and mame. log.txt SetupWizard.log
  5. Thanks everyone, Turning touch screen off seemed to have worked. I got it to work but it seems to have eliminated all my emulators I had set up. Oh well at least Mame works
  6. I had GameEx working like a charm and than it just oneday wouldn't load. Here are my ini and log files. I don't know what the problem can be I uninstalled the version and than re installed it and still get a black screen. Any ideas?" Thanks GameEx.ini log.txt
  7. I downloaded that one but does it have zip support? They discussed it in enhancements but beyond that I think it has a higher learning curve to figure out how to use it. Am I thinking about this the right way. Will the C64 emulators work with any zip package or are they made to only recognize certain brands. Am I putting the files in the wrong place? I'll play around again tomorrow and see if I can't make additional progress thanks.
  8. Draco Yes the Atari 400 and 800's were good computer. Also for both the 400 and 800 they have the programming books available. The problem is the files are so much larger than the Commodore pdf. I spent 2 days downloading their books to lose them when my computer crashed. I still am unsure which graphics chip was better C64 or the Atari's graphics. That was designed by the Amiga guy Jay Milner.
  9. I was actually trying to do both. To learn how Gameex and Gamebase work. But this first problem is a Winvice Issue. I am unable to get zipped files of any type to unzip. There really aren't that many websites that deal with it. Lemon64 forum mentions something and also dos gamers commodore64 but they all date from around 2009. Really old. There is a problem with the ziptool not being able to read bracfkets right than that supposedly was fixed. But I can't get it to properly respond. Any ideas. Also infozip is no longer around is it? I used that in one installation and got the gamebase to work but I couldn't find it. Isn't 7Unaip the same thing except a different vendor?
  10. OK I dropped 7Zipg and m and the dll file into both Winvice and the games directory and while it seems like something is going on the color background changes nothing lands right ever. Should I just blow it off and unzip the roms They work fine when I do that but I would really like to make it work with them zipped. Also in GameEx would I need to initiate a different instance of gameEx per directory. (one for D64, another for T64) Sorry if I seem dumb I don't think this stuff is that easy to do.
  11. So now I downloaded the other X64 and the long filenames show which lets me search through the catalog of games but when I set the file to zip. It shows zip on the Winvice commodore 64. How do people make the unzip work? What step am I missing?
  12. Thanks for the download links. One thing I have noticed is I am having problems with Winvice reading zipped files. Even after I select zip They never seem to unzip and for example I was trying to run forbidden forest which I know works I have used it before. But I never see the directory copied and the disks never run correctly If I go ahead an unzip everything I never have this problem. But I can understand what I am doing wrong now so I am going to try to set it up correctly.
  13. In Hyperspin they lay out each game cleanly in a folder but in Gameex do I have to dump everything together to make it work?. Or sort a certain amount of it myself and label put to things like an A folder b folder c folder or will GameEx do that for me. Sorry I am confused about the whole database thing. What do I need to do as a user. When I extract with 7zip rar it extracts each game in its own folder. Is this bad? Should they all be dumped all over the floor directory. Also with respect to C64 can I be nesting things to deep so that Gameex can't read it? Sorry for dumb questions but I am able to unconfused myself so now I will share how I am confused?
  14. OK now I will work on this. I have not had success in fully understanding how the emulator side works yet. I normally keep everything related to one computer system or console together in one envelope so with respect to the C64 I have a GameEx Commodore 64 folder in that I have my Emulator folder which contains the emulator Winvice I decided to start over so my tree is C/Gameex Commodore64/Games/Commodore64/Games and there are the files as D64 and T64. The problem I have is they are zipped. I would like to keep them zipped. But Winvice doesn't read zipped files and then how do I get Gameex to recognize both the D64 and T64 in diffent folders. I put these in more or less the way Gamebase delivered them but I have gotten that to work with both the AMiga and Atari st files but I can't get it to work with that Gamebase so I would like to get it working in Gameex. What amn I missing? None of my other emulators will work in Gameex either. I just get no games found when I point it to the directories where they are.
  15. I have 40,000 C64 disks in this collection. I have successfully set up both the Amiga and the Atari St gamebases but the C64 absolutely refuses to work. I also unzipped the files so they would be d64. Is there a way to use the gamebase materials in Gameex and am I better off keeping everything as T64 and D64 or could I keep it zips and have it still work?
  16. Good News It works!!! Thanks everyone It found like close to 3900 games.
  17. I s that the same as Mame.exe am I not allowing it long enough to run after I'll try it again and give it a couple of hours and see what it does?
  18. Thanks for your reply it gets stuck at 55% than I break it and it says romset is ok but it seems to not go past 55%. What I runitgame.bat where do I find it?
  19. OK I got the update list to work but when I click on the game Mame isn't loading.
  20. I finally had time to work on it. I changed the directory and got it going to 55% then it gave me an error. It seems to have loaded Mame. Would I be bett off using the Mame ui64 on the C:/ drive than the roms on the R:/ drive? I pointed it to the Mame on R:/ GameEx.ini log.txt
  21. Red Dog, It is a hyperspin prepared drive. The reason I wanted to test it out in Gameex is that Gameex lists All the games It doesn't categorically divide the games the way hyperspin does. Oh well I guess it is incompatible with that drive. I thought I would try it. The Mame 64 UI works I am just curious why GameEx doesn't.
  22. I have the same issue my Mame games list goes to 25% than quits. It's better than the last version which would not even open the list. I had to go back to Win 8.1 because Win10 blew my computer up and it completely stopped working. So I will look through the threads and see if I can locate the version of gameex that Tom sent me that one worked. Are Win 10 and Win 8 that different? Will Win8.1 still be supported now that 10 is the new kitten or puppy? log.txt GameEx.ini
  23. SSF won't boot and gives me a Directx error. It has run before on this computer so I know it will work. Any explanation
  24. I have experienced 2 computers crashing with Windows 10 installed On this computer the ie in 10 quit working and so I reverted back to 8.1 On the other one which I use to create music. Windows 10 gave me no warning only that I would have to restart the whole process and lose my files. Which I did but I went back to 8.1 Question would it have been better for me to boot back to a 7?-- although that is not what the computer came with. And force that in; I have an existing 7 license? Or did I do the right thing? but now I can't get the mame list to install. When I downloaded Catalyst I customized it not to load raptor and My computer won't update the game list at all. I went through this before but I am curious. Amd's have been around a long time so why is there such an issue are they really that different from Intel?
  25. I don't know what happened but somehow the control panel switch is missing from the Start menu. That whole are went blank. Any ideas how to get it back in Windows 10?
