Just curious, but why are you using XPadder? I see that you have a SFIV stick which is detected as a gamepad. I'm just wondering why you are using XPadder when this stick *should* work correctly out of the box. Also, you might find that the GameEx custom inputs work better than XPadder for this stick.

You can do that with a "also launch" command. The U-HID device has been around for around a year now, so it's been used in quite a few systems. I would get one, but I don't need it for anything. I saw the new accelerometer units the other day when looking for it's big brother and it does look cool! I wonder how well it would work for detecting bumps and tilts for pinball emulation. That would be pretty cool if it did work!

Have you verified that XPadder is sending keys at all? You can either open notepad and verify that keys are typed or use a key capture program (there's at least one in the download section of the GameEx website).

You know, if a new version of MAME breaks something, you can always keep the old version and use it for specific roms. We now have a feature built right into GameEx to help do this. In fact, this is EXACTLY why I had MAME 0.117 and 0.83 installed on my machine. I used 0.117 for my gun games and MAME Analog+ 0.83 for my rotary games. With the alternate MAME code Tom just added, this task is SOOOOOO simple! For me, I only update my MAME exe when I see something worth jumping on. I was running 0.125 until just recently. I updated to 0.130u1 since I was recompiling anyway. I keep my romset up to date on my file server and only update the cabs when I update the exe. It's important to keep the rom set and the exe consistent!

If you are hooking up a pair of car speakers (or any speakers for that matter) directly to your sound card, then it won't sound very impressive. Your PC won't have the power to drive any speakers worth listening to. You really need powered PC speakers for anything other than the error beeps. That's what my donor pc speakers were for. They have a cheap, low powered amp in them that provides enough power to get ok sound out of the speakers I'm using. If you use high quality, high power speakers, then you probably will be disappointed by what you hear with such a low quality amp.

Yup, that's the setting that will be changed. I don't know why it's hiding in the Setup Wizard. That's how I set mine up...odd.

Another option that I've gone with and works surprisingly well is to take a set of powered PC speakers and gut them. Take the volume control and the amp circuit and hook up a pair of lower power car speakers to them. The impedance won't match, so technically this could be an issue. However, I've been using my setup like this for a while and the sound is MUCH better than I expected. Admittedly, I'm not using car speakers, but speakers I repurposed from a Rush the Rock machine (4.5" arcade speakers from what I recall). These fit perfectly in my Championship Sprint cab's original speaker locations and had much larger magnets (bigger magnets = good). The PC speakers I used were a 2.1 setup, so I have the sub in the base of the cab and the R/L below the marquee. Like I said, I expected mediocre and ended up with really good sound.

That way will work, but if you want to have this universal across any theme you pick, you can just go to the Setup Wizard, select Search, type in "video" (without quotes), and enter the only menu that comes up. There will be a box for a startup video path that can be either the path to a video or the path to a directory containing videos. Select to enable startup videos and you should be good to go. There are advantages to doing each of these methods, but for what you are trying to do, either will work. Thanks for the VERY detailed guide Mayhem!

There's another thread where they are talking about Magic Drop II and III. Apparently the problem is with MAME and is fixed in 0.130u2. I haven't tried it, so I can't verify this.

I've been glancing over the custom menu stuff in CustomMenu.ini. It looks pretty thorough from what I can see. It'll take a bit to figure out all the little details though since it is so detailed. Out of curiosity, you mentioned said "there is no GUI tool for this yet, but I plan to work on one shortly", so does that mean a short term goal of days or a longer term goal like weeks? The only difference is how much effort I put in to learn the text file format. If a nice tool is days away, I'd probably just wait. If it were further down the road then I'll at least play with it to try to break it Oh, one question now that I think about it. I don't see any way to insert a blank line in the menu. Did I miss it, or is this not currently possible? Thanks!

I've read about the change in the NeoGeo roms, but with a 0.130 romset and a 0.130 version of MAME, things should work fine, shouldn't they?

There is no way to have the boot up screen for windows use a video. You can have an animated bar and perhaps more if you know what you are doing (I don't), but it would be pretty lame IMO if you could. You can have GameEx run a startup video like the machine running GameEx that's linked in the stickied thread that uses the lightning intro (FWIW, that's what I use). Effectively that's the same thing, so I don't think it's a bad solution. Besides, if you use Instant Sheller, you really aren't launching the Windows GUI anyway, so doing that would look fine.

If it doesn't run outside of GameEx obviously it won't work inside. Definitely try the runitigame.bat to see what's going wrong.

You can use either a single video or any video in a single directory. Start the Setup Wizard and search for video. I don't remember the exact menu, but there's only one or two options that will pop up, so you should be able to find it really quickly. Let us know if you need more help.

Yup, it'll be interesting to see what the ebay market thinks these are worth. I know they cost quite a bit in both money and time to put together, so it'll be interesting to see if ebay buyers understand and will be willing to step up.

Disable slikstik input (direct input). If that doesn't help, post your config and a log file. Please post as an attachment (rename to .txt or zip prior to posting).

I turned off the verify option last night and rebuilt the list. Everything seems to show up now.

MAME 0.130 vanilla custom compiled to add in hiscore, CPWizard Bezels, disabled RAW inputs. I should check if I have verify turned on or not. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hmmm, I updated things in MAME and they all seem to work. I see them in the main list, just not in the Neo Geo list. Odd...

I have the NeoGeo list turned on in the Advanced MAME settings. In the past I know this contained a couple hundred games or so, but when I looked today I'm only seeing 3 games. I'm running MAME 0.130 currently. I haven't looked at this list in a while, so I don't know when it stopped working. Is it my config, or is this something other people are experiencing? I'm thinking this could have happened a few MAME revs ago when they changed all the NeoGeo stuff around? Not sure, but I'm open to suggestions. Btw, this new mameemumap.ini is AWESOME!

Let's see. If an album costs ~$10USD then that's ~$3000USD just for the music. I'm guessing that he won't get that, so I'm guessing he will be keeping copies. Just my opinion though...
