  1. I'm building a HTPC setup around this theme as well Krak. Do you think it would be possible for you to do a Capcom theme for the CPS games? I think you pretty much got everything else covered that I currently have up and running in my setup. Either way man, it looks fantastic as I've said before and I can't wait to see this bad boy on my system. Thanks for all the work your putting into this.
  2. Thanks nullPointer and Tom for all the hard work you guys put into this!
  3. You might want to carry this topic over to EmuMovies as the folks there might be able to help answer your questions in more detail, after all, it's what they do . I beleive Circo used a real Wii for some of the Wii video captures hosted there, so he may be able to help you with getting a proper setup for recording from the actual console. The last batch of Wii video snaps I did I used Doplhin and FRAPS. The Dolphin Emulator has made some serious strides as of late. I'm using a devlopement build and many games that were glitched or unplayable in previous builds are now working, so that's something to think about if by chance you decide to go the emulator route. Becoming a supporting member of EmuMovies is really worth it in the long run. I'm not trying to sell you anything but the folks there, myself included, put a lot of time and effort into the content provided. Being a supporting member gets you access to everything, as you already know. We're always looking for more folks willing to contribute to the project so give it some thought.
  4. I'm with you Han! I spent many sleepless nights tinkering and getting things setup just the way i want. Seriously hoping GEevo will be compatible with current setups, but either way, I'm excited to see it come to light

    Slow run

What is your CPU/processor speed? Type of processor? GFX card?
  6. I believe PS1 games in .ISO format is a bad idea as the music data is sometimes corrupted or in some cases non-existant. Best to have them in .bin .cue format, with your ROM filter pointing to your .cue files. Your .cue files must match your the name of the .bin file exactly as well. In some cases, you'll need to edit the .cue file internally by opening it up in notepad and making sure the name matches exactly there as well. Just wanted to put that out there for you in case you notice some games where the music tracks aren't being played. I've never had good results with PS1 games in .ISO format.
  7. Yes! I gotta say GC looks very nice indeed! I've been waiting for a theme like this to come along for GameEx for a long time, you've made the kid in me a happy camper! My kids are gonna freak seeing this in action!
  8. I think that's what I'm going to be shooting for with redoing all the system intro videos. L@@ks Sexy! There really isn't a "time standard" on some of the older intro videos. What do you guys think a decent length would be for the system intros? 2 minutes? On a side note, this is my 100th post Don't I feel special!
  9. Sorry, I just happen to see your post, I missed it earlier. Are you talking about a video that actually shows the console? I could probably throw in some system footage at the begining of the system intros provided i can find decent pieces of footage to use. Or maybe have the picture of the actual system display for a few seconds before going into the gameplay videos? This is an interesting idea and I'd like to run with it. It's a shame the older Nintendo and Sega comercials aren't in better quality. I could do some serious work with blending those in somehow if only the quality were better...
  10. Ok, this is kind of what I was going for... maybe I could find some foottage of some of the actual consoles or something like that to throw in the begining of these beforw the actual previews start. Most of the intro videos range from a minute and a half, to 3 minutes. I feel three minute videos are decent and allow enough time to showcase some gameplay. Here is one for SNES and I have also done one for Sega Genesis. I'll upload these to my folder on the Emumovies FTP and see what Circo thinks about branding the system intro videos with the system watermark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ure85ishhnU&feature=youtu.be
  11. Thanks guys! I'm thinking of getting with Circo to redo/update all the system intro videos. I need to find out what's been done if any. How would you guys feel about "branded" system intros... like having a small system logo in the corner of each intro video like I did with the GameEx video above? I could always leave it out as I realize some ppl might not like this concept, but I think having the system logo branding each video makes certain themes within GameEx and other front-ends "POP"... (not that HyperSpin needs any more eye candy) just an idea. @Draco1962 Didn't you do a set of 3D system logos? I'd like to use those if possible
  12. Thanks nullPointer! I always wanted to do something creative for GameEx in terms of videos. It's a bit long, but it keeps the kids entertained and gives them something to look at when GE loads up. I might do a few more of these, but not quite as long!
  13. Hope this is the right section to post this in. I decided to do my own GameEx branded startup video for my HTPC and arcade cab. It's kind of "epic" in terms of length. Features a rockin' score from DKC: Tropical Freeze. It has kind of an "Evolution" vibe to it! I'll post it to the EmuMovies FTP if anyone wants the High Quality version. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeVnY1LFo6Q&feature=youtu.be

    Reluctant

To echo the words of the gentleman above... yes, this hobby takes a massive amount of time, trial and error. I've been around the emulation scene since the late 90's. I've done my share of ROM hacking, beta testing various software, and helping out with other projects, etc. A few years ago when I decided to set up a home arcade cab and a new HTPC (mostly for retro gaming) I too found myself scratching my head quite often with uncertainty and frustration. There were many times where I thought I should throw in the towel so to speak. But my love for this great hobby of ours kept me coming back for more punishment, and eventually, things started to make more sense and come together. I bet I spent more time on forums researching and sifting through countless threads to find the answers to my questions than I did actually playing the old school games I wanted to relive from my childhood. Here I am 3 years later, and after toying with every major front-end out there, I've finally found a "home" here at GameEx. (I started with Maximus Arcade) But still, I spend more time tinkering and configuring rather than I do playing. There is always something new to discover, or something new to add or advance on within your setup, no matter what front-end you use. I also help contribute to the EmuMovies project and even still, you can find me doing artwork packs or lurking around over at HyperSpin from time to time. The point of my little story is that you get back whatever you put in, I'm in no way trying to discourage you, or any other newcomer. We were all "new" at one point in time, and I'm sure many of us share the same frustrations The folks here are always willing to help, and the amount of responces you've gotten on this thread reflects that. GameEx is a great choice for a front-end as It's pretty easy to setup once you learn the basics. The best advice I have to offer you is to take it a step at a time. When I started this hobby, I found myself wanting to rush things all to often, and many times important details were overlooked. Start with one emulator/system, and build from there. This not only gives you a satisfiying feeling of accomplishment, but also gives you a chance to learn the setup of GameEx and how she works. There is also a ton of valuable information and guides right here on the forums, so get to know the "search" feature and you'll be in good hands. If I can be of any help to you, feel free to send me a private message, or post here on the forums. As I said before, we're here to help. Hope you stick around, this hobby can be very fun and provide many hours of entertainment if just given the chance Good luck to you.
  15. Congrats to you Null!! You were the first person to help me when I first discovered GameEx and a prime example of what makes the support here in the GameEx community first class and a cut above the rest! Hats off to you my friend!
  16. I originally thought it was something not right in my GameEx setup due to Windows not recognizing the .mp4 files. That was something else and it's straitened out now. I'll send Circo a PM about the naming issues. Thanks guys.
  17. I got them straight from the FTP. Once I can get some time and get to my GE setup, I'll make note of the videos that needed renaming to play in GE. I believe Circo might have to take a look at some of these for naming inconsistancy like the example above. I reset my system last night and after renaming the video, I got it playing in GE, so now it's just a matter of finding the ones that might have naming issues. Not a big deal, just wanted to pass that along incase others might be wondering why some of their videos for the databases aren't playing If anyone is using the NES set, could you be kind enough to do a quick run through of them in GE to see if all are working? As I said I had issues with other sets too, but I think the NES set was the one with the most gaps.
  18. Some of the video names are slightly incorrect and therefore not playing in GameEx. For example: (Using the NES set) Video Name: capcom co., ltd Database Name: capcom co., ltd. Notice the period in the database name? However putting that period on the filename looks like this: capcom co., ltd..mp4 and seems to cause naming issues within Windows 7 by not recognizing the .mp4 file extention but the video wont play without it matching exactly to the database... There were more with similar naming issues, but I didn't keep track of all of them.
  19. I've gotten in the habbit of checking this thread daily for a dose of eye candy These look sweet! Very nice!
  20. I beleive you can replace the sounds in the theme your currently using with your own. I'm not near my setup at the moment but I'll check on this when I get the chance.
  21. I personally haven't done anything with Steam in my setup (yet). But from everything I've read here and there on the forums, I gather it's top notch. Maybe one of the other members here will chime in with their thoughts on the matter. Also, as for subscriptions, to me personally I think a lifetime subscription is the way to go. A year can fly by in no time and with lifetime, you know your always covered when getting all the latest features and updates GameEx has to offer, as the FE is updated quite often. Just a thought Welcome to the forums!
  22. Let me be the first to welcome you to the forums! Glad you got things sorted out. We were all new to GameEx at one point in time, so feel free to ask for help... that's why we're here. One of the great things about this forum is the amount of folks always willing to lend a hand in helping others. To me that's what sets us apart from the competition (I'm looking at you HyperSpin) But seriously, welcome aboard and happy gaming!
  23. Really looking forward to this theme as I said before. Will you be doing themes for all systems supported by GE or just the most common ones?
  24. Ah, ok. Thanks Adultery
  25. Loving the work your doing on this theme. Really can't wait for this one!
