  1. To get the full benefits of GameEx Arcade with Mame, just set it up under the Mame Settings. There is no need to set up anything under the Emulator Setup area. The Emulator Setup is generally for all the other emulators. If you prefer a simple Mame Setup, you can set it up under the Emulator Setup...in any case, you only need to set it up in one place. As far as paths, GameEx Arcade will use whatever paths you set up. If you have Automatic Artwork Down enabled, it will also place new assets in those folders. For instance, all of my roms and assets are located on an external drive I:\Emulation...so some of my folders are I:\Emulation\Mame, I:\Emulation\NES, I:\Emulation\Genesis, etc. Then, inside each of those folders I have folders for Logo, Title, Snaps, Video, Background, etc. I prefer to keep my assets outside of GameEx, mostly because I have that external drive that I can move around. I currently have 650Gigs of of emulation files and assets (I keep EVERYTHING), so it's nice to not take up my main PC hard drive. If you want to leave them inside the GameEx file structure, you can. If you ever decide to reorganize your asset structure, all you need to do is set up your folders, move your assets over, and update the paths in the Setup Wizard to match. If you do everything right, GameEx Arcade will not know the difference when you run it.
  2. Hello Garrett, Have you installed the LAV codecs? Many of the video problems people have are resolved by installing the proper codecs. If you already have the codec installed, can we assume that you are only asking for help for Mame right now? Your GameEx.ini file shows that no video paths have been set for your other emulators (PS2, Gamecube, N64, etc).
  3. I cannot speak for the devs on this, but I can say that a more appropriate place for this question would be the the Features Enhancement Request thread.
  4. I was curious Draco. Where did you find the background video for your theme...or did you make it yourself?
  5. Hi Killerbay, Videos will not download automatically. Just graphic assets like snapshots and logos. You will need to get videos yourself. You may want to check out the Sync program at emumovies.com. As a guest, you can download 250 Megs a day or unlimited if you purchase a subscription. Subscribers do get access to higher res videos, but the lower res ones are still nice to have if they work for your setup. They also release updates every so often. I use emumovies sync to check for new content once in a while. Also, you posted to the GameEx Evolution > General forum instead of the regular GameEx forum. Evolution has not yet been released yet (though it is getting there). If you have other GameEx questions, please post them to the GameEx > General forum. I have asked for this thread to be moved.
  6. Hey coda, Clearing the cache should have done it. When you cleared the cache, did you go to the GameEx\DATA folder and delete any file with Emu_4 and the .dbcache extension? If not, please give it another go. Make sure GameEx isn't running at the time as well. Also, how are you deleting games? By physically deleting the games outside of GameEx or using the Delete key from within GameEx? Side Note: You don't need to change the file extension on the gameex.ini to post it. The forums will handle it just fine. One less step to worry about.
  7. Hi Coda, you can edit any post by clicking the 'Edit' command in the post. I put 'Resolved' in your title for you.
  8. If you don't mind some renaming in the rom folder, this setup should work without .lnk files: Rom Path: C:\roms\wiiu Command Line: Cemu.exe -g -f "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Then, change the name of the .rpx file to match the game folder inside the wiiu folder. For example, for C:\roms\wiiu\mario 3d world\code\mario.rpx, rename mario.rpx to mario 3d world.rpx. You will also need to set Scan Sub Folders to Yes in the Advanced Emulator Setup. This worked for me and changing the names of the file and folder did not appear to break anything. I did only test with one game though.
  9. Yup, check out snarl's post. I am using the same command line and she is workin'.
  10. Hyperspin is using full screen video backgrounds. GameEx can certainly use the same video backgrounds if the theme was made to support them (themes that were not created to use full screen background videos may look odd or just bad). If you are using GameEx Arcade Edition and have the video background assets, I believe all you need to do is set the Video Theme path in the MAME Settings for Mame and the Emulator Section for emulators and you are set. To go an extra step, if you want a system video to play when no theme video is present, set the Video Background to a system video. If you need video themes, I believe they can be found on Emumovies. There may be other sources as well. ...Edited to fix a few errors...
  11. Here I thought the game information was pulled from the mameinfo.dat. My mistake. I see that is only relates to game recommendations. I will have to file that one away in the old memory bin.
  12. Just trying to be funny...and failing evidently... I took a look at the Ambient Occlusion theme and description popups are enabled by default. I am not a theme expert by any means, but I do not think that is your problem in any case. I am fairly certain that the entire description box is composed of the Game Name, Genre, Ratings, and Game Description. Either it is enabled or disabled, but you cannot pick and choose what is included. Since some of the details are being displayed, my guess is that the description information was not captured when your mame game list was built. I suggest rechecking the paths for your mameinfo.dat under the Mame Settings and then rebuilding the list. When I used the Ambient Occlusion theme on my rig, the descriptions displayed properly.
  13. Overall, my new rig has worked really well. The only 'regret' I have is not having enough knowledge of G-sync vs Free Sync. Had I known that G-Sync monitors were so expensive, I might have gone with an AMD based GPU....but when I built the machine, I had no intention of buying any monitors...and then black Friday came along and I could not help myself. Still, I am pretty happy. Coming from an 8 year old Gaming laptop, this thing is a beast.
  14. In Enable/Disable Features, check Show Game Information. Did you happen to change your theme? Some themes do not display the same information. Some creators may choose to hide elements for a more basic look. Did you change the paths to the MAMEInfo.dat file locations in the MAME Settings? Did you forget to pay my semi-annual-under-the-table-happy-gamer tithe? Small, unmarked bills are perfectly acceptable. Worse case, try retriggering GameEx to rebuild the list. If you have retriggered the list and paid the tithe and still cannot figure it out, please post your gameex.ini and log.txt file.
  15. I dig the Pi3 I bought. It is good for what it is, but it is also limited. I just don't think GameEx would work well on that platform. There are already a few front ends that do a good job for the Pi.
  16. @djcapalay, you posted this in the GameEx forum instead of PinballX. I will ask a mod to move this.
  17. Hi Coda, Glad you are liking GameEx. Your Mame version should match the version of your roms. I have not heard of extra games showing up if they do not match, but the list will likely be shorter. However, having mismatched versions does tend to make troubleshooting this sort of thing more difficult. What Mame are you using (official build/self built/MameUI/etc)? And do your roms match? We will want to retrigger the Mame gamelist to build itself and capture the log. Please recheck the values you have set in the MAME Settings > Advance Mame Settings from Only Working Games through No Clones and make any changes you feel are needed to get the list you want. If you do change any of the settings in the Mame Settings, GameEx should automatically prompt you to rebuild the gamelist the next time you enter the Mame section in GameEx. Otherwise, you will want to set Enable/Disable Features > Hide Update List to No so you can trigger it yourself. Do keep in mind that it can take a little time to generate the list. It depends on your PC, the number of games, and your parameters. Expect up to 10 minutes, perhaps even 20. After the list is done, exit GameEx and go to the GameEx\LOG folder and grab a copy of the log.txt file in case you need to post it. Next, run GameEx and look over the list. If the list looks good, well, cool. ...but if there are games that appear in your list that you do not have, pick a few out and double-check your rom folder to make sure there is no file there. Then post your gameex.ini file (found in GameEx\CONFIG) and the log.txt file you captured earlier. Just drag and drop them in a reply to the thread. Also give some examples of the roms you double-checked that are appearing that should not (title names and their related roms).
  18. @MoggFanatic Good to know what those are. You never can tell when someone might ask something like that again. Now, I BELIEVE I have it correct based on the link I gave you. I don't have demul set up, so I cannot test. It will give you a place to start though. ou should not need spaces. If my suggestion is correct it is just the symbols for (carrot)(percentage)(left bracket)g(right braket).
  19. I was looking at this as well. To determine the "Keys to Send" value, take a look at this site. There is a link listed in the Setup Wizard, but it appears to no longer be valid. I believe the values you will need to send are ^%{h} and ^%{g}. I am curious. What do each of these shortcuts do in demul? I was unable to find anything about them.
  20. He said it was retropie. That is a pic of an emustation config screen. @Floyd Turbo You need to hook up a usb keyboard. Once the rom is actually running, press Tab. The configuration is the same as any other Mame.
  21. Glad you are getting it figured out. That is the first time I have seen GameEx Arcade with the logo pic or name moving across the background like that.
  22. I mentioned the resolution because I thought that if it could be increased, the name would just be displayed and not scroll, therefore being a little less annoying visually. Also, a 500x350 sounded like an odd resolution anyway. With a Radeon HD 4550, you should be able to have as high of a resolution as the CRT allows. But I understand that you may have it all configured just the way you want it now. Some pictures would be a good idea. I think that will help.
  23. OK, your files explain what is going on. Your setup is not the standard setup as I suspected. You chose to set up Mame as an emulator instead of using the Integrated Mame settings. When GameEx Arcade originally was released, it was Mame only with no emulator section. It was always intended that Mame be configured in the Mame Settings. The emulator section was intended more for the other emulators like NES, SNES, Genesis, etc. You can put Mame there if you want and it can work fine. You should choose the [Arcade] Arcade (Mame) for the Database. This should fix most of the naming and description issues you have. If you do not have that database option, you can download one from here and place it in the DATA\EMULATORS directory. Then it will show up the next time you run the Setup Wizard. One drawback is that the database is from 2014. I have no idea how up to date it is. Databases are one part of GameEx that is a HUGE undertaking and they get done as best as they can. However, I do suggest you set up Mame in the Mame Settings instead of under the emulators. The setup is similar in many ways. What is different is that I believe the name and description info is pulled from the various mame .ini and .dat files contained in the DATA directory instead of the database file...and those files are more recent. If you do decide to set up Mame this way, do keep in mind that the first time after you run Mame after setting it up in the Mame Settings, GameEx will want to compile a mame gamelist based on your settings. This can take a while depending on how many games you have and how good of a computer you are using. On average, I would say 10 to 20 minutes. As far as the 'scrolling game name', I think I see what you are referring to now. When you set up an emulator in the Emulator Setup, the name of the rom file is displayed in the upper left of the screen. Since your resolution is so small (500x350), there isn't enough space for the name to be shown completely, so it scrolls across the screen. GameEx Arcade is designed to be easier to set up because it is less configurable. Many choices that are in the regular GameEx are hard-coded in GameEx Arcade...and there is no setting I can see to make that name not appear. Can you increase the resolution? Is your display really 500x350?
