  1. I only opened an additional topic because last time I started with a question/forum post and it was answered so I went on to ask more questions about the same topic in that same thread and I was asked by a mod to open another forum post to keep the topics separate. sorry.
  2. This might be a Mame question as I know Game Ex really is not creating the bezels unless I want to create or use their "Mame" Bezel but the bezel "wasted size" appears on the GameEx bezel and the mame bezels. What I mean by wasted size is the BLACK 1" that is on the left and right hand side of the screen between the bezel image and the edge of the LCD. I do not have a problem with the amount of space bezels take up but this "wasted space" has to be able to be utilized right? I do not see the point of it. I know people have mention the 4:3 ratio but mine is a Square 19" LCD, so the 16:9 does not apply to my setup. I was doing testing with a 1943 bezel, what a cool bezel! Any way this bezel image size is 4000x3000. After reading some other topics on this I saw people recommended changing the Bezel size to my screen resolution of 1280x1024. I did that and repacked the files in .zip format but now the bezel does not show up at all. So that must not be the way to do it...does anyone have a work around for this or is this just the way it is? The goal would be to keep the bezel intact and full size whil adding about 2" inches of size to the gameplay screen...make sense Thanks, Rich
  3. This can be marked as solved. I will open another topic for the Bezel size questions I have.
  4. yeah...that DID NOT WORK! Dang...it takes the bezel away completely. I'll need to do some more digging because as much as I like the bezels I just lose too much screen. I played kungfu...what and Awesome bezel!!! But it was playing full screen before now it is like 640x300 or something tiny...
  5. I read another post and I think maybe if I resize this 1943.png from 4000x3000 down to my screen resolution that might do the trick...need to rezip and test
  6. Dang I was hoping we could reduze that black on the outside edges. What about resizing the bezel in Photoshop? Too much work?
  7. Hey guys I know this is probably more of a CPWiz question but I thought I'd post here since most people use CP Wizard...I think Just saw I could enable move lists for games such as MK Series and Street Fighter Series in CP Wizard. I went through the options of CPWizard and enabled the Data for everything in options. But if I go into GameEx, run MK then hit Tab the menu seem the same for the normal mame. I do not see those extra options the CP should be dislaying. I DLed the control.dat file from http://home.comcast.net/~plotor/command.html and placed in mame.exe location as the instructions say but again no changes. I know i am probably doing something wrong as even on their site it says you need MAME PLUS and I am using just a standard High Score build of MAME 143..can someone try and point me in the right direction as I could not find anything on the CPWizard webpage, again I could've missed something there as well.? Thanks, Rich
  8. I checked out MR Do and I see what you mean...still made the screen small but I disabled the marquee on that one and it looks better. I see I can crop on 1943 but then you lose most of the bezel but then the whole screen is used. What I DO NOT LIKE is if crop is not enabled and the bezel iss full I still have like 1" on each side that is black...why is that not filling with the bezel and gameplay to make it bigger?
  9. thanks guys...I think with the disabling of the bezel in Game EX and changing the path in my mame.in to \emulators\artwork files\mame\artwork it did the trick. tested 1943...looks awesome but damn it takes up alot of the game play screen!
  10. bezel path/....in the mame.ini or somewhere in Game Ex?
  11. Yeah I checked 1943 as well and it is already enabled...generic Mame Bezel even though I verified the file in my artworkf olders
  12. ok I checked 1943 zip file in my c:\emulators\artwork files\mame\artwork(Artwork files is where I download all my images and whatnot too for all emulators.) and I see the bezel file in there. But when I run it in gameex it shows a generic MAME Bezel...which is more than I had before but it could be cooler. As I mentioned above bezel is enabled in mame.ini and it says artpath = artwork. So I thought maybe since I am not using the standard locations I needed to change that to c:\emulators\artwork files\mame\artwork...but alas same result. I know i am close just not sure where to look. Thanks
  13. generic mame bezels though....digging around sure a file path is off
  14. i ended up doing a search in gameex setup wizard and found any bezel options...I think I have it...well enabes anyway...testing now
  15. I checked around online and I find 3 or 4 different topics pointing to different area..basic in 1, advanced in another.,..advanced page 2 in another...BLAH! But I canot seem to find it in my settings...I am sure I am missing it. Also I verified my mame.exe is set to use bvels = 1 and artpath is pointed to artwork or vise versa...any help would be appreciated thanks, Rich
  16. Cool thanks!
  17. Not sure if this is the place to come or not as I went to CPwizard's site and did not really find a forum so I thought I'd try you guys. For the most part the default control list is fine. But then I come across MK Series and NBA Jam and I want to change those games to a certain layout that differs from the default. I take it I need to create a layout for each of these games but how does the "default" layout or setting pull my custom layouts to display? I'm not sure if I am wording this right or not. Thanks, Rich
  18. I'm not looking to add instability to my setup at this point...i'll just deal with the normal High Score Supprt...which is fine
  19. too bad this sounds like a really cool feature. I just got all my ROMS to this new version...i'm not going back again Thanks for the input.
  20. Hello all, I have a dual LCD setup and in MAMEui32.exe I can easily set each ROM to either have 1 LCD or use 2 LCDs. Then I can specify which screen goes where. But when I moved to MAME.exe v143 I only have that terrible searchable ROM list and I cannot figure out how in the world to configure the 2nd LCD. Does anyone have the CMD line commands I need for this and maybe how to even do it or is it not possible with mame.exe Thanks, Rich
  21. I saw another post - which I cannot find anymore - where A guy was looking at high scores outside of the ROM and inside of Game Ex menus. I believe it was in the game's info menu like where you see "Time played," "Info" and so on. I have it where MAME saves high scores in the "HI" folder and I believe I have "Hi-Scores" enabled in the Mame Settings for Game Ex but I do not see this option in any of the games. The games do save high scores inside but say I get High Score in "Ms. Pac-Man" it only has the score at the top...it seemed like this person had the scores and initials listed outside of the RO?M itself...I think. Anyway is this possible? Thanks, Rich
  22. I enjoyed the documentary I remember the arcades...I am 36 now but I loved...loved the arcades when I was younger...probably up into my late teens. The fun wore off near the end of the teen years because you could start playing great games at home. But if I had $5-$20 when IO was 10-14 years old I would go down and play...it was a great time and it is sad to see all there are around now are ticket arcades or redemption games.
  23. no worries...allows me to do some problem solving on my own.
  24. I think I might have figured this out. I was tinkering with the DB option in the emulator setup portion of Game Ex and found I think I can create a separate DB for my v129 I want to use for Dual monitor games and games that do not run on v143. Just going through and testing games and removing ROMS and what not to get a good clean starting DB.
  25. Hello again. Due to some great advice to by fellow forum goers here I was able to get a MAME version to support High Scores which is great. But in doing so I had to go from v129 to a newer version and I lost 18 ROMS at the start, which I expected. I noticed I also had duplicates so I ran through my filter settings and cleared and added the missing/duplicate ROMs and I only have about 8 casualties now. Some games I could care less about but one or two I Really want to be able to play from time to time. Instead of learning how to do the ROM update trick I was just going to do a quick fix through Game Ex where I add Mame v129 as a secondary emulator. When I did this though it lists every ROM I have(you the segments and everything) and on top of that...NONE of the games would work. I figured there is something in the "Advanced Emulator Options" I could do for the names but none of the ROMS working in Game Ex when I know they work in v129 is what scares me. I double checked the paths and all look ok. Any quick ideas? Sorry I have no screens as I am at work right now. Thanks, Rich
