  1. I have not had a chance to read the replies to this topic yet, but in the same vein - what can be improved in GameEx for emulator support? At the current time Im quite interested in making things more user friendly with the possibility of an XML driven special "emulator setup wizard", but I am also interested what else can be done. There are generally few future requests on the core emulator support, so maybe HK and I can work together on this?
  2. Im rolling bacl the plugin version in the current GameEx build, but not changing the version. So if you want to use the plugin. Download and install again in about 10 minutes. Cheers
  3. I did do stuff on the server earlier, due to obtaining gameex.com (see other post). So thats why you were likely having issues. I guess we'll have to see what HK says about the issue with the plugin. The last version did update it. Hopefully its something simple for him.
  4. Quite pleased, but I managed to acquire gameex.com via snapnames. The main site is now accesible as that. I thought I was going to grab it for $50 but there was a fair bit of bidding on it, and it cost me $350. Better in pounds though, and I really did have to have it :)Id have never of known it was becoming available if it wernt for lots of companies spamming me about it, offering it for crazy prices like $3000. So I did a little research and found out about snapnames, so Im pretty pleased about how savvy I was about it. So I have all top level domains for GameEx now, along with .info and .co.uk
  5. Can you try turning off the LED Plugin?
  6. I am very happy to welcome GreatFlash to the moderation team. Flash (along with Headkaze) has been instrumental in developing what I see as the most exciting feature in GameEx at this time, the database support. He's not one for people with pacemakers, but I think yourll agree he makes something fun, even more fun
  7. It will be in the release notes No its all automatic, if your already using them No, but there not downloaded with auto update. So a full install is required. Pretty much, other than there not included in the auto update. They are also available from gameex.net for an offline install.
  8. I see you as a strong part of the team, and would be honored to have you as a mod, and I think youd be good at it. However I always like things to be an optional and fun thing for people around here. So if its something youd like then fantastic, if not its cool too. I was not expecting gratitude or otherwise, just wanted to give you the option, now or at a later date. That's pretty much how I put it to the other mods, and thats how I see it. Im already greatful for all you do around here as it is, and the same goes for BKenobi, who also does loads around here, but didnt feel it right to be a mod just at the moment. Cheers Tom EDIT: In other words, YES, I would like, but its your choice!
  9. No worries, its cool, just wanted to put the idea out there. Talking about more on your plate, how you getting on with the scan? In regard to the developer, how much does GameEx DBM already scrape? I think I initially underestimated what was involved. Sorry about that.
  10. How about I make you a mod, so you can do it yourself?
  11. If I ever see a stranger (or a dog) wearing a GameEx t-shirt in my lifetime, then Ill consider the project complete, and cease development immediatly! And.. If I ever see a girl wearing a GameEx thong, ill marry her.
  12. No worries, Ill make it quite clear the databases are a WIP. Im really not wanting to put pressure on you, but it seems I am regardless, so sorry about that. In regard to speed, I think we should be good now after the caching improvements I made in the last release.
  13. Just a heads up, Im planning on implementing an "All Games" feature, this will effecitvly allow an automatic emulator group of all systems that are setup. Quite a good use of the databases I think. ie see all games by year, all games by category etc.
  14. Yes exactly as BK says. Please try a completely "fresh" install. From when you posted your log before as I said it did look like a screwy config as it was trying to set the resolution when you said youd told it not to do that. In fact I know whats happening. Its setting the resolution, failing but not erroring for some reason. So gameex is displaying at the resolution, but actually really running at the desktop resolution, hence why its showing only in the top left corner.
  15. Thing is noone elses econonmy is any good either right now. So its not just for you guys. Its also cheaper now for Australians, Canadians, and in the Euro Zone probably more so than america, as the Euro has got very strong against the pound as it is.
  16. Thanks for the ecouragment, I appreciate the backup saying Im doing the right thing. The Dollar to pound exchange rate has dropped a LOT last month or so, so its actually nearly $7 cheaper now.
  17. Yes, it may actually be the wrong target audience. If only they sold GameEx marquees, remote controls or game pads, then I could be onto something. I dont think it does any harm anyway.
  18. 20th October, 2008 - New GameEx Novelty Store I've just launched a GameEx novelty store here: http://www.cafepress.com/gameex. Get your GameEx T-Shirts, Mugs etc and other novelties. You won't find GameEx beer or a GameEx ash tray, but just about everything else is there.
  19. 20th October, 2008 - GameEx price reduced To celebrate the 4th birthday of GameEx, and to make sure you can still have fun in these difficult times, the standard registration price of GameEx has been slashed to 13 pounds (approx $23 dollars) until the end of November 2008. Hopefully better times will be with us soon, but in the meantime get it while its hot! Not only are you getting a feature rich and unique product with a huge amount of time and creativity put into it, your also supporting the author and community.
  20. This gets asked quite a bit, and is normally related to an install of the official divx codec. Its covered in the FAQ, and the easy simple answer is uninstall divx and install the recommended codecs (also in the FAQ).
  21. I dont know, Ive never tried. There's no specific support for WMP Media sharing, but it may still work. GameEx can access media over the network with mapped drives and UNC paths though.
  22. Gameex does actually move the mouse when playing videos a pixel every now and then. Its intentional and not bug. Its supposed to stop the screensaver from kicking in. It obviously needs tweaking a bit.
  23. No worries, that feature is not for everyone, but its a good one, especially with the database support and new other systems feature.
  24. You need to enable the game information page to add and remove to favorites. This can be set to enabled with the configuration application. This is normally on by default, but obviously has somehow got changed. Welcome to the Forums.
  25. Very pleased to see things like the Lynx (computer) and Laser. I do remember seeing those in radio rentals or the like when I was really young. My buddy had the sharp, and we're talking Junior school buddy here! But do you have the C64 console? Didnt see an Oric there either? I also seem to recall there was a "console" based spectrum that took carts. Bet you dont have one of those!
